Which is better: Bass Pro Shops or Cabela's? Personally, I like the selection from Bass Pro better, buy what do y'all think?
BPS for sure! All of my few orders from cabela's have been nothing but trouble and headaches!!!!!! Selection sucks too!
Both are o.k.
Basspro can have some really good sales but some bad customer service and shipping times. Cabelas sells good quality lures but can be overpriced. If it was up to me I would chose ***. ;D
for me to get to either one of the two I have to drive 3 1/2 hrs so by the time I get there I am happy to be there.
This coming weekend I will be going to BPS in Vegas so I plan on having a good old time in there;D ;D
like a kid in a candy store, if I could only get free samples...
QuoteBPS for sure! All of my few orders from cabela's have been nothing but trouble and headaches!!!!!! Selection sucks too!
yup, bps for sure.
QuoteBoth are o.k.
woah what? just O.K?
i prefer the mom and pop stores.. ill drive 45mins to buy from a guy trying to make a living like me than buy online.
im goin BPS all the way...
BPS.... ten times more stuff
Judging solely on customer service and shipping, Cabelas tops Bass Pro Shops by a wide margin.
Bass Pro Shops for sure.
I'd have to say BPS for me, even if the closest one to me is over 1000 miles away.
neither, Tackle Warehouse. Tops both in customer service
Quoteneither, Tackle Warehouse. Tops both in customer service
I agree with this. I would take Cabelas if I had to pick one. BPS is my last resort option.
Bass Pro hands down!!!!!!
Bass Pro has the best selection, Never have had good luck with Cabela's
I've recently decided I do NOT like BPS anymore, however, I do not have a cabelas anywhere near me (BPS is still an hour and a half) I do not like buying online, so its kinda up to local (ATLEAST 10% more expensive) or I do BPS...there are rumors of a cabelas or G. mountain opening near me tho, so maybe I'll be better off soon.
They are both fun stops if you are in the neighborhood. There are some great small companies that do mail order. I have the number for Northern Bass Supply in my cell phone and have called from the water and have ordered from the water and had a live well pump sitting on my doorstep the next morning. Susquehanna Tackle is another good one and in the west Bass Tackle Depot and Tackle Warehouse are both good and carry a lot of stuff that the giants do not. For reels I have found that Bait and Hook has the best price lately.
Its pretty awesome really for the Angler today. You can get anything on line and those little brown trucks come almost every day. Long gone are the days when we had to rely on Bass Pro and Cabela's alone
BPS by far. The Cabela's by me is a joke. They have about 1/10th in the store of what they have in the catalog. BPS has more. Never had any problems with returns etc. from BPS.
BPS without a doubt. The BPS brand baits are much higher quality than Cabelas. BPS has a much better selection too.
BPS needs to address their shipping/customer service problems. If I place a order on Saturday I expect to have it by the following Friday. BPS cannot provide this so I no longer use them.
Bass Pro All the Way

Every one of the hundreds of my BPS orders has never taken more than 4 days! For $1.00-2.00 more they do the 3 day upgrade(USPS only). I have had nothing but great experiences with their customer service as well!
I like BPS better but, I go to Cabela's because it's 2 hours closer.
joe
Personally I like ***. BPS has great selection, but Cabelas has them beat in customer service.
I have 2 BPS stores within a 1/2hour of my house. Cabelas is nearly an hour away. I definitely will choose BPS every time. Not just because they are closer but because they have a better selection and better pricing. Cabelas does carry some stuff that BPS doesn't and I will sometimes make the trip to Cabelas when I have too. Doesn't hurt that it is right by Kansas Speedway, Dave and Busters and Famous Dave's BBQ!
But I always check BPS first.
Later,
I buy first from Cabela's then BPS because of customer service. Then I buy from others.
I prefer mom and pops if im going to a place to shop. Cabelas has unique reels you can only find there but bass pro has more lure selection out of all places i been the last month GREENTOP is the best and big time customer service and they can match bass pro and gander wich are 5 mins from them but all in all id buy from cabelas first then TW then BPS
Tackle Warehouse for fishing stuff (Rods, reels, lures, etc.), but Cabelas for anything outdoors related. They have BPS beat in customer service which is the deciding factor for me.
Depends..... fishing I usually go with BPS... they are definately geared more toward fishing than cabelas... as says their name. Cabelas usually has just as good or better hunting stuff. Sometimes one will have something the other won't both ways. Both have great customer service and will basically take back anything you don't want or didn't like. If I had to stick with one or the other for the rest of my life it would be BPS over Cabelas... but I use both.
If I know exactly what I want, I'll order it from ***. I'll make the short drive to BPS (less than 15 miles) if I want to compare products or just feel like browsing a bit. I rarely buy anything from Cabelas because I'd have to pay for shipping. It would really have to be a smokin' deal.
Cabelas (I like their Cabelas branded rods and their Fly Departmant is better).
I'd have to say BPS cause I never been to Cabela's
BPS because there is not a Cabela's close to me. But normally if I am looking for a particular item I go to the local Academy, they have alot better pricing on almost all of their items.
cabelas online is way better than bps. (there isn't either close to me yet, so it's always online for me) cabelas bargain cave has more and better items and there are reviews on all products that i find helpful. but i've had very good customer service at both.
I'm within 30-45 driving time of both Cabelas and BPS and pretty much get everything from Cabelas. They have better sales to me and the layaway keeps my purchases going thru the off season.
Gotta go with Cabelas and love there customer service also
i live 40min from a bas pro hear in concord NC and its pritty good to me.iv bin to a cabelas in PA for its grand opining and WOW that was a big friking store ! but i felt it was more geard tords hunting. i orderd things last night from bps and got a email to day stating that all of my items are on back order or reorder? wut ever that meant :-/ so i should have just drove 40 minits to the store >
both are good cabelas has a better waterfowl section one plus BPS has is the six pay if your a good customer they let ya do it whenever ya want ;D when times are tight the six pay without huge interest works for a tight budget
Unless you like BPS brand stuff, I think they are close on rods and reels. BPS has more of a lure selection. Cabelas wins hands down on customer service.
Here is my list,
Rods-TW all the way!
Lures- Those I can't make, I have a local Mom and Pop shop that sells everything I want or need plus they have stuff that even BPS or Cabela's don't sell anymore, and they have tons of small custom tackle companies stuff too, IT'S BAIT MONKEY HEAVEN
Line-BPS
Reels- Here again the Mom and Pop shop have what I want.
If I had to pick it be BPS, But they don't know me by name or invite me to sit down and talk fishing with them, Mom and Pops stores all the way!!!!!
I have a selection of pretty good local fishing stores near me with knowledgeable people working there, plus they sell guns and hunting stuff which I always like to look at and buy. I usually go to this one place in town, they know my name and know what I like, I can chat with them and get deals. The service is much better for me from these little shops, so I buy from them.
BPS really does have a lot of selection and when I go to Springfield, MO to see my sister-in-law I stop buy and spend the afternoon. Huge store, well stocked and employees seem to know what they are doing. Don't have a Cabelas by me, but do have a Gander Mountain which I hate, they have terrible prices and their employees know diddly squat.
So for me its local and if they don't have it in stock I can get them to order it.
I've never been to BPS, it is @ an hour's drive from my house. Cabela's is only @ 12 minutes. I like the huge selection and prices at Cabela's, but I try to do the majority of my purchases at Fisherman's Choice Pro Shop, about 3 minutes away. VERY knowledgable staff and locally owned. They also sponser a Wednesday night tournement all summer at Lake Pleasant, the closest lake to my house at @ 45 minutes drive.
