What ever happened to Mike Icannelli? I enjoyed hearing from that guy. Seems to have dropped off the face of the earth. I never see his name on tourney leaderboards. Or am I just not looking in the right places?
Still on the tourney trail. He just competed in the Bass Masters Classic.
He's still in the mix, still making checks. He'll probably win another one, sooner or later

Just not looking in the right places I guess. He is literally one of the most active and socially present fishermen in the country. No big series wins as of late, but always there.
If you listen closely, you can hear him screaming halfway across the country after he catches a 1.5lb giant...
touting his Fishing University class...................
He is active on YouTube. His channel is IkeLive
Mike was competing at the 2018 Classic this weekend as well.
He does a podcast. One of his podcast guests recently insulted the Googan Squad. A silly Twitter volley ensued. If you don't know who that is, look them up on YouTube. There is debate about whether they're good or bad for the sport. Once upon a time the pros ruled the bass fishing information highway. YouTube has given rise to the average Joe fishing channel and a lot of people who either can't or don't want to fish tourneys, myself included, get a lot out of those videos.
The Pursuit channel picked up his Youtube show Going Ike. They are also resurrecting City Limit Fishing as well. He is still fishing the Elites series but seems he is more into promoting the sport than competing.
Isn't also doing the Bass University thing as well?
He is actually a member here, too, just doesn't post much.
Mike is super active on social media and does some awesome things for the sport. He's all over Instagram, FB, etc... Can't wait till he wins another tournament!

Yes he's all over the country with Bass University. He also tries to hit as many expos and shows as he can. I seen his schedule when he came to Ohio for an expo. He did 2 days in Pittsburgh, 2 days in Columbus and 3 days in Louisville all with in 10 days of each other. He is all over the area promoting the sport and trying to grow it.

They were talking to Mikeybalzz who is known as the 1st YouTube angler. He was talking about how pro anglers do not respect the YT guys and a producer interrupted and said that pro anglers only hate the Googan Squad. Then there was some mumbling and the producer went on to say that they are bad anglers who make fun videos.
That started the battle mostly with Lunkers who is confrontational and self righteous anyway.

No way!!! What did lunkers have to say about that and where can it be found?
You can follow him on Facebook.

That was a great show I hope they bring it back!
You have five hours to catch a five fish limit in City limits fishing. Oh look there is a large baby doll head floating! That fine piece of cover ought to hold a big'gun. Ahh I did enjoy watching that show.

It was one of my favorite shows as well but I really disliked Byron Velvick as the host.
I’m sure I seen every episode. Didn’t they get skunked by carp? Lol I don’t remember they were using pop corn.
Mike Iaconelli participates in Major League Fishing:

Ike is EVERYWHERE.
He is still very much into competing. He finished 38th in the Classic a few weeks ago but
at one point during the live broadcast I think he was in the top 12. He finished 6th at last year's Classic and had a few top 20's on the 2017 tour.
Last time I looked, you could watch all of his previous Ike Live shows on his website. I have a podcast
app on my phone and just listen to them when I am driving or sitting at my desk. Sometimes it isn't the best
and then other times it has me laughing so hard my stomach hurts. I highly recommend the Ike Live from the Bassmaster Classic episode where it was Jeff Kriet, James Watson and Scott Suggs telling stories. It was absolutely hilarious.
He is also filming some new tv shows and has some major deal coming that hasn't been announced yet.
He is a really good dude and does a TON for this sport by helping others, especially little kids (ikefoundation.org).
So yes, he is still around.
Mike is still going "Ike".......unfortunitly.
Tom
He's probably spending more time fishing for fun that spending time on things that don't matter as much.

I like the guy for the most part, but watching him screaming on this years MLF tour to his Marshall was a bit too outrageous. The whole thing was so forced it takes away from a real reaction in my view.
Love him or hate him, he knows how to draw. He totally understands that he can make more money by standing out than by just being a quiet catcher of fish. Is some of it forced...debatable. Is some of it played up, absolutely. Is he a fantastic fisherman and champion of the sport? For sure.
Funny, the guys who seem to win the most and make the most money seem to be quiet catchers of fish who present themselves as mature professionals.

And some people are perfectly good dudes who like to fish and have fun, and loathe the professional aspect of the thing they love to do most. We need more Jim Harbaugh's and less Bill Belichick's. Especially to appeal to the future generations.
