we got between 4 and 5 inches of rain yesterday everything around here looks like this. my lake, yuck!!
Mmm... chocolate milk ? I'm tempted to go this afternoon, but it looks like there's more rain on its way in!
I don't like to drink milk or fish in it , yuck.
That's what we call the "Willy Wonka" conditions ! Beware !!

Oh man I'll drink milk. I love milk, but my wife is the same way, she can't stand milk. Between myself and my son and daughter we go through 3-4 gallons a week!
Regular water color in my area. Yesterday, one of the lakes I tried was black!
that would be different. but I guess if that's the only choice I would have ,well; a man has got do what a man has got to do! FISH!!!

wonder if there is a site for you like "used cows .com"!!
Love me some muddy water! Put a lipless and a jig in my hand and I'll catch fish
In comprised water visibility like that, the best thing is a pitch black lure
with an outboard motor on the stern

We havent had rain in Orlando in like 2 months, the water levels in the retention ponds I fish have fallen by at least 4 feet so no choc milk for me

Let's keep our fingers crossed, they're predicting 50% chance of rain for Tuesday

Better rain, the grass in my area basically looks like it was burned and I feel like the water level drop is affecting fishing
haha, that is some muddy water believe it or not you can catch fish in that water on spinner baits and catterbaits in cart colors.
Looks like home!
Water like that takes a lot of the guesswork out of fishing. You know exactly where the fish are gonna be - shallow, and in cover! With all that greenery along the bank, i'd be paralleling the bank with buzzbait. Better believe they are hanging out in those stickups too! Pitch ya something in them. Other good recommendations above.
Don't let chocolate milk discourage you from fishing. Bass are incredibly adaptable. A major change in water color/level/temp might throw them outta whack for a day or two, but they'll get hungry before too long.
oh ill fish anything. just not my preference. I guess I'm getting picky in my old age.my wife tells me that I am getting so old that when I was born the dead sea was just sick!!
Did you know that humans are the only mammal that drinks milk after being weaned. I like to throw a black paddle tail worm in those conditions.
One lake I go to regularly and where my PB came from is like that. Black and blue stuff works pretty well. And surprisingly white spinnerbaits and a Norman Coffin bill in the silver and white.
I've seen rats drinking milk from the kiddie's supply in films shot in India.
All our lakes look like that right now. Makes lure selection easy. Went out Thursday with a spinnerbait with big copper blades, a dark colored bladed jig, a dark colored jig, and a noisy squarebill. Fish were caught and good times were had.
We in SoCal are done with that chocolate milk now, just wait for the green thing (Algea bloom) which should happen in 3.....2......
That's what our lake looks like. Gonna hit it in a half hour. It's only over pool by about 8". Have most of the above mentioned baits already tied on!
Going to truly kick off my bass season on Sunday. We have some nasty weather rolling in Thursday night and all day on Friday. Not sure what I'll be up against. Feel sorry for the Midwest guys. I know it will not be to that degree.
Dude go fish it right now !!! Every time I fish murky water like that my chances of a big one seem to go through the roof... For two reasons (when bank fishing)
1 ) they tend to come up shallow !!! Even in the middle of the day. Feeding heavy on it's outmatched forage ! I've seen it time and time again and have found them to literally be right by the bank. Corners are your best bet. !
2) I strongly believe they are more easily fooled in these conditions (bigger bass). And I don't believe this for no reason!! It's based off my results under all conditions .they just can't see as well ! In super clear water they will see your bait from a distance , zoom up to it and never touch it ! Well in this dark water their lateral line comes into play... All they feel is the vibrations... Get lucky enough to get your bait close to the bass and you get to see that awesome belly roll right in front of you . Happened to me like 2 days ago.
My favorite baits for this is a shad rap.in yellow perch (shallow runner) sweeping retrieve.. back and forth..
And any plastic with alot of movement. Any of the rage series. But especially the structure bug and craw. Keep them moving !

Up here in Noblesville we have about the same conditions....
That's when I break out the Black/Blue Chatterbait. Sometimes I have great fishing that way. The fish can't see me on the bank so I don't spook them as easily, so my success usually goes up. Use something with the heaviest thump you can - you want it to feel like you're holding on to a Sikorsky

frog time!! top water bites are the best!!
No. Illinois is same ... I haven't been out on a river all year. Going out tomorrow to a power plant cooling lake, did great last Friday and am curious to see what all of this rain did to the fish.

good luck. show us a power plant honey!
went out for about an hour this evening, that's all my back would take, been a rough week, this old body not happy I guess. got these two out of the chocolate. the biggest about 3lb. chatter bait!
Dude I love stained or muddy water. Did some yesterday. Had a great day. Brings the fish close to cover or the bank. Fishing my favorite lures being jig, spinnerbait, and square bill.

Yummy, chocolate fish
ive left clear water (because the bite was non existent) and went and caught a decent sack in the chocolate milk water numerous times.
The water clarity was normal, but the temp was down 4-5 degrees from last Friday and I think that made a difference. Today was "fair", everything between 1-2 pounds.
I'm really waiting for the rivers to come down, I do enjoy fishing rivers and the water is just too high and fast, and I think it's going to be a while before they are in good shape.
I went. Threw most all the above mentioned baits. Nothing for me.. It was nice being the only one out there.
The dirty water will bother the bass' gills and of course they will try to find the cleanest water they can find.
If you can find cleaner water then that is where to fish.
Use dark colored baits.
Have fun and don't let a little rain cancel out your fishing trip.
I love when the water gets muddy around here. It really takes the guess work out of it for me. Big spinner baits, chartreuse square bills, and a black buzz bait fished around shallow grass works every time.
My rule of thumb is that they will shut down for a day or 2 when the water gets dirty but by day 3 they gotta eat!! That's when I go after them. I fish everything from gin clear to heavy stain and one thing is consistent.....sooner or later they have to eat.
