I made it in the Olympian Newspaper here in Olympia, WA. Its about me and the fishing trip that I took the Editor on. Bad weather, whihc he didnt mention, kinda screwed up fishing. But it was alot of fun.
It was the feature story on the Outdoors page.
Thanks,
Nick Barr
sweet!
That is just too cool. Congarts Nick. Keep that one for your scrap book and send one to each of your sponsors, and a few sponsors you don't have yet.
Dude - that absolutely rocks. I bet your mom is extremely proud. Heck, someday your kids and grandkids are gonna be proud of you when they read that.
Congrats, man.
adam
Man ... props to mom!!!!!
Congrats young man.
Way to go Nick!!
nice going nick!
That's a great article Nick! Most bass fisherman fish a lifetime without being the subject of a newspaper or magazine article. It also sounds like you are a good bass fisherman. Congratulations. Maybe the article will make other youth ask their parents to take them fishing, which would be a great thing for the youth and the parents. You are a great example for your peers.
We have a celebrity in our midst.
Way to go Nick! Congratulate your mother as well! You are a lucky son, young man!
Yes I know, I am so lucky to have a mother that does so much for me and supports whatever decisions I may take. I thank God for her everyday. I will make sure to say a special thanks to my mom today on behalf of BassResource.com
Thanks,
Nick
Ill tell you right now nick. You have something going. As a person who has an undieing passion for the sport of bass fishing and everything that comes with it, the marketing, public relations, travel, and of course the fishing i know a good thing when i see it.
You definently have a good contact. Keep in touch with that writer and always think out of the box and promote your sponsors. This is how you grow as a pro. Its all selling. As a professional these companies pay you to move their BOTTOM LINE! And if you can show them that you do this......by sending them reports of what you have done to promote their product or service you can really move up on the totem pole. You need to save articles like this and put them into a portfolio and really work on it. Future sponsors will jump all over you when you show them you are a good PROMOTER....which to them is (i hate to say it) a bit more important than a fisherman.
And work on your public speeking skills this is really key.......being able to speek to the public is very important.
I personally have many articles in my portfolio........storys promoting the Baranof Wilderness Lodge in Warm Springs Bay Alaska (sponsor) and also on other things such as tournament finishes, lake reports, and on my All-Teen Team Bass Tournament Fudraiser bass tournament i organized. these are all things that i save.........even the smallest because i am starting out too. Personally im saving my portfolio until i graduate from college because as a sponsored ATHALETE you need to think of it as a FULL TIME job......and i want to save that until i have finished my Marketing degree. But thats my path.......you have chosen another one and for your age.........you are doing PHENOMINAL and i mean that!!
I dont mean to lecture you about this but i really see something in you, and i want you to grow as an angler and a proficient promotor of the sport of bass fishing........but i dont think you need this info because i think you already know it.
Anyways......youve got it bro. Ill see you on the water.
-Miles
Way to go!!!! I really like to see younger people gettin the glory that they should for being a good role modle for this sport.
Nick,
That is very impressive. Congratulations!
I think I can speak for everyone on this forum when I tell you that,
"We are so proud of you".
NICE GOING NICK!!
YOUR MOM SOUNDS LIKE A VERY SPECIAL LADY.
I HAVE A FEELING WE WILL BE SEEING YOU ON TELEVISION ON SATURDAY MORNINGS GOING HEAD-TO-HEAD WITH THE LIKES OF KVD AND GREG HACKNEY AND ALL THE OTHER PROS.
GOOD LUCK,
RICK
Yes, I hope so too.
As for the Portfolio I do have one with all my articles and pictures.
I think I have a good resume now, but I am going to remake mine this summer and its going to be in color and everything, and I am sure going to include the articles.
-Nick

That's impressive- I wish they had the Junior bassmasters when I was your age. Keep it up dude...I don't doubt for a minute I'll see your name again.
Nice job Nick. You are well on your way to proving you have what it takes on the water, and you seem to the have the intelligence and personality needed to make it big in the business of fishing. Keep working hard, add a good education, listen to your momma, and one of these days we'll all be saying, "I knew him back when he was just getting started."
Good Job Nick--
Sounds like the newspaper will be your next sponsor.
WOW that is so cool! For a 14 yr old you are way ahead of most adults in the fishing world. Looking forward to seeing you put the hurt on KVD and IKE!
