Name a lure thats a fish catching machine 2024

fishing user avatarChris reply :

I know that there are several but which lure would you consider is a fish catching machine?

fishing user avatarroadwarrior reply :

Rat-L-Trap or the Lucky Craft version, LV 500 ( the LV 500 is 3/4 oz but the same size as a 1/2 oz Rat-L-Trap and you can throw it a mile.  The Lucky Craft comes with Gammie hooks so you don't have to replace them like you should on Rat-L-Traps).

fishing user avatarernel reply :

Spinnerbait. You can fiish it from the top of the water column to the bottom. All you have to do is change the weight of the lure and the blade. Not to mention it is almost as weedless as t-rigged worm.

fishing user avatarkajun reply :

I agree with spinnerbaits.  Just yesterday I was fishing some flooded timbers and at first I started using a jig-n-pig which was getting bites but I was in a place where I had no leverage or room to set the hook so I switched to pitching a spinnerbait with two colorado blades and a chartreause skirt.  I could only pitch it about 5 to 7ft at a time but the water was about 4 to 6ft deep all aroud me.  Needless to say the spinnerbait worked great for me.  Half the time the fish set the hook themselves so I didn't have to worry about lack of room.  The spinner bait, in my opinion, is the most verstile lure there is.  You can fish it whenever, regardless of water temp, color, fishing pressure and if there is fish around you should be able to catch one or two with a spinnerbait.  You may not catch the quality of fish you can with other baits but as far as quantity goes, you can't beat it.

                         Thanks

                            Kajun

fishing user avatarNick reply :

Often it's the angler that makes the lure deadly.

The best bait  based on its performance in all water temps, depths, locations, and speeds is the jig.

In the hands of a  very patient or even a novice angler, the Senko is king. I'm not disparaging fast, efficient fishers, but one catches  more doing lots less with the Senko in a variety of waters provided it is rigged correctly.

fishing user avatarBig_Bass_Rich reply :

3" White Mister Twister grub with a black jighead. It's a fish catching machine for sure!

fishing user avatarnjvbass reply :

Zoom trick worm or a jig.

fishing user avatarMainer reply :

Soft plastics.

fishing user avatarChris reply :

Here are some of mine bomber fat A its about an inch or so long crankbait.  Another would be a Bill Norman crappie baby little n.  Also a bass assassin soft jerkbait or fluke jr. I can't forget the bitsy jig and senko. For me all of these can catch a ton of fish of all sizes and can catch you a good fish too. These are just a few and I know there are more that I would consider under certain conditions to be fish catching machines.

fishing user avatarbquittem reply :

hands down black and blue jig

or if an angler isnt good with a jig, then a senko is best

fishing user avatarearthworm77 reply :

Jig n pig or a split shot worm

fishing user avatarD.Taylor reply :

Id have to say any lure that is tied to the end of my line.  Just for the simple fact that if you dont have confidence that it is a fish catching machine why throw it.

fishing user avatarL.D. reply :

In the river that I fish it would have to be the jig. The top two for me are the tube and senko in varrious sizes and colors depending on the river.

fishing user avatarroadwarrior reply :

When I replied to this thread the first time I'm thinking lure = hard bait...If everything's included I am Mr. Senko.  I'm not kidding about this, I quit using the 5" because I caught too many fish!  You still catch small fish with the 6" version but not as many.  The overall quality is much higher and I have caught ALL my big largemouth on 6'  senkos.   One more comment: In '05 I am going to focus on jigs.  I fish them a lot and catch some nice fish but I have heard and read so much about jigs  being THE big fish lure,  I'm going to really give it a test.

fishing user avatarHawg_Dog reply :

I would say a 6in. zoom lizard or a 3in zoom tube ;D

fishing user avatarbutch reply :

I would have to say a spinnerbait

fishing user avatarWill reply :

I know it sounds funny, but it has worked for me. A 6" twirl tail Renegade worm in the Electric Blue color which is pretty much a purple. I have caught fish on that worm when others anglers can't get a bite. Maybe the fish don't see those particular worms that often.

fishing user avatarUsername reply :

Zorro Spinnerbait?  Umm I think that theres no real fish catching machine but my favorite would be any softplastic.  Theres always a way to fish them and i've never had a "full" day on the water where i didnt feel like throwing one whether i did or not.

fishing user avatarChris reply :

lol shuttup quit giving out my secrets( Thats a bad old bait aint it!)

fishing user avatarTrivib1 reply :

Home grown soft plastic bait, 1/2 inch wide flat bottom, 4 inch long, I call it my weird-O bait.

fishing user avatarSnag reply :

Check out the "salty slings" from Venom Lures, 7" blu/blk power worm and some of the special orders from Reebs Lures. Specials are not on his site but e-mail me and I can hook you up with some killer plastics.

Tight lines,

Snag

fishing user avatarduncast48TN reply :

1/8 oz. chartreuse maribou RoadRunner. This lure catches bass.crappie,bluegill.

fishing user avatarUsername reply :

Yeah i mean "Zorro spnnerbaits?  Who catches fish on those lousy things?!"

fishing user avatarJT Bagwell reply :

I couldn't narrow it down to one fish catching machine, so I will name three (not in any particular order).

1. Jig and Pig (or Jig and Plastic)

2. Senko

3. Gary Yamamoto's Kreature

fishing user avatarBamaCoast reply :

Like hawg dog, I can catch bass on the 6" zoom lizard (watermelon seed) when nothing else works. I fish it weightless. The zoom lizard is barely ahead of the berkley 7" power worm (black). These are my go to baits. I also like the senko's 4 and 5 inch. There are many senko imitations that work just as good. 7" culprit (red shad) is very good also.

fishing user avatarNick_Barr reply :

spinnerbaits or creature baits= quanity

jig and oversized creature baits= Hawgs

fishing user avatarroadwarrior reply :

Give the Ika a try.  I rig them weedless and weightless.  Fish them like a jig in gnarly cover and structure, you'll catch some big fish and won't get hung up all the time.  I also have great success  fishing them like a weightless Senko, pulling a little at a time and letting them sit (not hopping or slow rolling).

fishing user avatarKlinger988 reply :

Black and blue jig with a power craw is my best lure.  If that dosent work then a baby brush hog should do the trick.

fishing user avatarFatdaddy150 reply :

;) 7" Powerbait worm pumpkinseed color. My need a limit quick bait. It never lets me down. If I need a kicker fish I go to a 5" Powerbait hawg junebug color or a 1/2 oz Terminator jig with a Uncle josh pork rind usually black and red.

Tight Lines,

Fatdaddy151

fishing user avatarriden reply :

When fish are busting shad in moderatly clear water on a sunny day, you can't beat a 1/4 oz luhr-jensen sugar shad.  I've caught 30+ bass in 1 1/2 hr in that situation. Overall though, a zoom u-tail worm./riden

fishing user avatarpeteP reply :

4" slider worm in june bug with a green fleck

fishing user avatarWaterWalker reply :

#1 - SENKO (or imitator...can u say STIK-O?) 4 1/4"

#2 - 3 7/8" Clown Colored Jerk Bait

#3 - 3/16 oz. White w/ Red In-Line Spinner....

nobody uses In-Line Spinners anymore - when will someone win a tough finesse tournament with one of these and bring them back into the limelight?  I hope never...he he he

fishing user avatarPond-Pro reply :

LuckyCraft's FLASHMINNOW in American Shad. That jerk bait is hard for fish to resist. I have caught almost everything on it.

fishing user avatarcrankbait reply :

RAPALA DT-SERIES....! ;)
