So, on Monday, I am planning on going to this pond that I know about that I don't think anybody has fished in for YEARS.
The owner dug it about fifteen years ago, and stocked it with trout, so I don't even know if it has any bass in it?
This ponds is surrounded in cattails and stuff like that, and I don't know if the fish will be really spooky or not?
Need some tips and stuff for how to fish it!
~Kevin
Just walk around, looking down for snakes, and throw what ever you want.
You can start with search baits as crankbaits or go for finesse with a flip and pitch rig.
If there are largemouth bass in the pond you will find out.
But before you go, check out how to fish for trout so you can bring some tackle and go after them if there are no bass in the pond.
Let us know what you threw and the results.
Good luck.

Snakes are the worst thing that I will be scared off....

I used to fish a little pond with a buddy that was kinda like yours. It was on some of his family's property. Way off the main road, smack dab in the middle of the woods. Kinda treacherous to get to, but we caught bass on just about anything we tossed in there. We would go through bags and bags of senkos. Very fun fishing. Snakes everywhere though. Hanging on tree limbs, the whole 9. Just be careful and pay attention to your surroundings. Have fun!!
Senkos and spinnerbaits are my favorite starting baits. If there's not a ton of vegetation/wood I'll switch to a lipless from the 'bait.
Inline spinners will catch bass and trout. I would start there.
There are snakes that chill out where I fish too. They usually are more scared of you than you are them

Lol. But to answer your question I would fish what you have confidence in.
First post, welcome to the forum.
Search baits,
Topwater baits.
Spinnerbaits.
Shallow cranks.
Minnow baits.
Split shot rigged worm.
Carolina rigged senkos / brushogs. 1/8oz weight.
Inline spinners.
Scents, polarized glasses, your lucky hat, make sure you have your skills with you.
I fish from shore too.

My #1 choice as well, bass jump all over them, I've been catching quite few over 18-20" on them. How deep is the pond and what's the vegetation like? I would also have with me flukes, they can be fished as a topwater or further down in the water column, can't go wrong with senko. I wouldn't take any thing else.

I have no clue how deep it is or what vegetation is or anything else about it.
I have NEVER been right down beside it...

Ok, so I went there, and caught 5 tiny little guys...
I will upload some pics a little later, but this pond is really cool!

5 tiny little guys are cool? Lol glad you had fun I love trying new waters.
Here is the pond, and of my goodness, these guys were green!
P.S. Sorry about the lines through the one picture, I was shaking!
~Kevin
Thats a nice pond you get to fish there.
I don't know how to find the bigger ones in there.....
All I can catch is smaller ones

Well, I tried frogs, but not spinnerbaits....
I thought about using them, but decided not to?
What color should I use?

A 1/4 Oz Booyah Chartreuse/white spinnerbait

Ditto.
I have to say, of all the places people fish on this website, you fish some of the nicest/most picturesque looking ponds

Well, thanks!

I second that!
I want to try a wacky rig
Do you think the little fish would go after that as much(it like a 7-9 inch worm)
~Kevin
Probably, those little fish are ambitious. I had a 5-inch bass eat my 5-inch senko earlier this year.
I didn't post a picture of it....you'd all get jealous of it's massive size!
That's a pretty place. Try larger lures to see if you can cull the smaller ones. The problem with a hole that size is they're usually overstocked with bass under a pound. But they're hungry and dumb because they outnumber the bait. If it's alright with the owner, someone should take as many as they can for a while to thin the herd. Small bass from clean water are good eating.

The thing is, this pond was NEVER stocked....

At some point someone had to put a few bass in there, cause they sure didn't walk there. Maybe the man that created the pond just isn't sure what it was stocked with. I know of some guys that will. At h fish from a local lake and bring them back and release them in a few of the ponds they fish..
Wacky rig, bladed jig, and frogs all day on that water.
Watermelon Red wacky rig
Black/blue bladed jig with rage menace trailer (vertical)
Spro bronzeye in nasty shad

That's my favorite combo! i like me a live target frog though.
I am going to be there tomorrow evening, and don't know how it will go...
I will probably get there about 4 in the afternoon and stay till about 9...
It is suppose to be hot that day, so even with all the tips you gave me, is there any more?
Thanks!
~Kevin
P.S. The water is really clear
I would be pitching/casting t rigged beavers and jigs into the thickest stuff there.
Also I would be throwing a 68 special weedless Hudd. Even if they don't bite it, you're likely to see a big girl follow it up, simultaneously giving away her hiding spot.

Sadly, I have no hudds....
They are to expensive
Would a smaller swimbait work?
I want to get some sometime!
~Kevin
I'm sure a smaller swimbait could work, but it doesn't have the drawing power of a Hudd to get followers.

Maybe I will get a hudd when the next sale is...
