Pros doing a series on youtube 2024

fishing user avatarcjam93 reply :

Hey guys today I have been watching the series Scott Martin is putting on youtube and really enjoying it. Are there any other anglers you know of flw or bass doing the same kind of video series? Thanks!

fishing user avatarFishinBuck07 reply :

I think Jacob Wheeler does something, one of the Shryock brothers I think also.

fishing user avatarNittyGrittyBoy reply :

Mark Daniels & Brian Latimer

fishing user avatarFordsnFishin reply :

I watch Jacob wheeler and scott Martin fairly often.

fishing user avatarreb67 reply :

Scott's dad Roland has is own channel

fishing user avatarscaleface reply :

Scotts is going to be interesting because he is  going to be focusing on Bass Open events and trying to reach the Elites . He had a good start with a 5th place finish in the opening event . He was 60th after the first day . You get a look at the life of a Bass Pro . This will not be a cake-walk , theres a lot of outstanding competition fishing the opens .

Wouldnt a Youtube channel  of a young angler trying to make it be good to watch ?

fishing user avatarHower08 reply :

Scott Martin Jacob Wheeler both Fletcher and Hunter Shryok Roland Martin Brian Latimer and a few others as well. I like the YouTube stuff better than most fishing shows on TV

Most of the real young YouTube fishing kids are a bunch of goof balls that you can't take more then about two minutes of watching.

fishing user avatarhoosierbass07 reply :

Roland Martin is surprisingly entertaining and good in his youtube videos.  The guy knows how to be enthusiastic about things.

This guy is awesome, down to earth, family man and his vlogs are great.

I'm not a fan of Scott, but love Rolland. He's got soo many tricks up his sleeve and I love his DIY projects.

I catch Wheeler on *** all the time, he's good too. Nothing beats Bob Izumi tho haha

fishing user avatarHawkeye21 reply :

Brandon Palanuik has some good videos as well.

fishing user avatarGReb reply :

I watch all the Wheeler, Connell, and MDJ videos for comedy. Connell is a riot.

fishing user avatarChance_Taker4 reply :

I love Brian Latimer's channel. I have learned a ton from him. I'm not a fan of Scott or Roland so I really don't watch their channels. I enjoy Wheeler's but he needs to learn more about lighting and camera work some of his videos give me headaches from the camera motion and lighting. David Dudley also have a great channel. But the one channel I watch religiously is Tactical Bassin.

If I had that kind of money I would consider sponsoring a young angler .

I probably don't count as young anymore anyway haha

fishing user avatarflyingmonkie reply :

I spend way too much time on YouTube.

Hunter Shryocks "27" series is AMAZING!  His newer "24/7" stuff is good too, but "27" chronicles his 2017 season of the Bassmaster Opens that ultimately qualified him for the Elite Series (He had 27 days of open competition to qualify for Classic/Elites).

Palaniuk's videos are also at the top of my list.

Not Bass/FLW, but if you're into kayak tournaments, Greg Blanchard has a great channel.  Jon Boat tournaments?  Check out SBFISHINGTV.

Along with Latimer. Jacob is primarily a vlog, not a ton of info provided but he drops a few tips and such every episode and he shows the good and bad. He's a fun watch while I'm doing other stuff. B-Lat is a mix, he does pure info dump videos and then he's got total fluff/fun stuff where there might be some info mixed in or not. I have only watched a couple of Scott Martin's videos so I don't know yet. I know a couple others have channels but it doesn't seem like they put a lot of effort into it consistently. I'd bet that changes in the next year or two. Sponsors will start pushing pretty hard and also making it easier by providing camera/editing support and content ideas if needed.

It amazes me that more of the pros aren't doing this. It's literally their business. The fish are totally secondary, they're marketing people and niche celebrities. The fact that most of them have little or no presence on the key social media platforms is nuts. If it hasn't happened already I would bet that Jacob and Brian can negotiate a significant increase in their sponsorship levels and get sponsor support for their social media work. Jacob basically lives in his jersey on video and both of them spend a lot of time talking about and naming sponsored gear. Unless they're ignoring YT rules, even the videos they do about specifically sponsored equipment isn't being paid for or specifically provided for the video.

I know that my buying decisions have been influenced by their videos. Including specifically getting the Z-Man chatterbaits because of B-Lat's videos.

fishing user avatarTnRiver46 reply :

I love B-Latt's channel! I wouldn't say the fish is secondary to anything. To borrow a quote from Zona, the fish itself was, is, and always will be the star of the show. No fish= no show

From a non-pro angle, there's a long list of great YT personalities:

  • Tactical Bassin (the benchmark)
  • KeepinItReelFishing (Karl is hands down my favorite YT personality, in-depth breakdowns on gear and tackle, sportspal user)
  • Tackle Advisor (reel teardowns, maintenance, reviews and comparisons)
  • Online Outdoorsman (kayaking, technique specific)
  • The Nature of Fishing (in depth knowledge for every fishing situation, older guy with straight facts, no sizzle)
  • Salt Strong (reviews, maintenance, rigging videos)
  • i_fish (reviews, teardowns, in-depth look at gear etc)
  • BassResource.com
  • Jekyll Productions - custom painting

Criminally underrated. If you wanna learn a bunch about the ned rig, I highly suggest going through this playlist. He got me hooked on it.

fishing user avatarGReb reply :

Wheeler and Scott Martin both pay folks to do most of the filming and all of the editing. Time is the barrier most pros face. They don’t sacrifice  the time to film and edit videos. But I think you are seeing more guys that realize it can be a source of money and influence to help gain sponsors. Not mention they already have a decent base of subs day 1 so they are in the money very early on

@Paul Roberts I'm a big fan of your content. You're like the Bob Ross of Fishing videos. No disrespect, nothing but admiration.

Thanks, Dangerfield. No disrespect taken. That's another check in the Bob Ross column. I've also been likened to: Mr. Rogers, Bill Nye, Jim Carey, Doug Hannon, Glen Lau, and even Al Lindner (although, I'm much more Ron than Al, I think). I think Bob Ross may be the most appropriate. "I see a happy little Potemogeton ri-i-i-i-ight over there." :))

No sizzle. For fish(ing) nerds only. The rest will be bored.

fishing user avatarkdubracing reply :

Good thread. I've been watching several of the channels listed here, but have some new ones now too.

fishing user avatarfishindad reply :

Hands down the most entertaining YT channels:

Uncut Angling: watch their 39 Hours episodes. Multi species angling mostly in Canada.

BlacktipH: saltwater fishing and incredible catches. Very professionally filmed and edited ($$$)

Just reminding folks to focus on answering the OP's question.  Keep it on topic please.

fishing user avatarhoosierbass07 reply :

There is of course Mike Iaconelli.  More and more I keep thinking that guy is the best self promoter out there for himself and bass fishing.  He's passionate and fun to listen to.

Let's put a little laydown over here, in the corner.  It's spring, and this will make a cozy spot for a big bass.

Really like his videos, I feel like he is a better teacher of things fishing than most guys doing to YouTube stuff.

I've enjoyed some of Ike's shop series.
