I'll start it. Even though it has been quite some time since I caught a teener, I really expect to stick a 16 to 17 plus this year. Every year my home lake Berryessa kicks out 2 to 5, 16 to 17lb plus fish, yet my PB from this lake is only a 12.4. All of my really big bass have come from little trout ponds. I just feel like I'm due to get a giant from my 22,000 acre home lake.
Also, I hope / expect to get my first double digit Northern strainer. Got three 9's last year.
And finally, I hope / expect to get a 7 plus Smallie. Almost embarrasing that my current PB is only a 5.7...... But I really expect to just skip right past the 6's :-)
Who's next ?
Peace,
Fish
I'm going with 7 in '07.
Im hopin for an 8 but predicting a 7 to top my pb of 6. Hopefully I can get out there soon.
In '04 I couldn't break 8lbs. In '05 I couldn't break 9lbs. Last year my best was 9.98lbs. So this is going to be my year. With the trip to Fork and then coming home just in time for the Lake Varner spawn it should be perfect. I am moving into the double digits this year. That's all I want to do, just break 10lbs.
Since I've only been at this a couple of years I'd like to catch a 5 pounder........maybe at the Fork :
QuoteSince I've only been at this a couple of years I'd like to catch a 5 pounder........maybe at the Fork :
I hope I can help you with that.
I'm hoping to finally get one over 11 lbs. I've caught 2 over 10 lbs... But, Ill take some 7's, 8's, 9's, well actually I'll take whatever I can set the hook on!
one more 10lber than in 06. So 4 10+ lbers in 2007, and at least one single 5 bass limit day of 35+ lbs.
I want a fifteen pounder in '07. I saw a couple on Lake Varner last year during the spawn that I am guessing were around 15lbs and there was a 15lb floater found this past summer so I know they are in the lake. I lost a 15lb 8oz fish a couple years ago only to have a bank fishermen catch it the next day and the only way to get the picture out of my mind of that fish throwing the hook is to catch another one just as big.
I'm hoping for a teen fish ;D, but I'll be happy with anything over 8.
I am going to be realistic for these Maryland Waters. I am going for a 9 green this year and a 6 brown one. For some reason it seems the 6's are getting rare on the Potomac and Susquehanna. Its funny what ten years will do to a fisherie. Oh, and Randall, I think you must have died and went to heaven. Those are some awesome numbers you are throwing out. I wish you luck. I could only imagine living around stock like that. Those are some hawgs. :)By the way, has anyone noticed the trend on sizes related to the region everyone is from?
i'm in ny so i'm going with and 8 lber.
Here it is!
It's 1/16/07 It's a cool crisp morning on the Stick Marsh with the sun just poppin up on the horizon. George Welcome idles into what the locals call " The HOLE".
There is barely a ripple as the steam from the 74 degree water rises up to greet us. I tie on my new SNAKE ( I hope it gets here in time) and toss it into the abyss. As i slowly titch it across the matted grass out of the fog I here KABOOOSHHH.
11 lbs 7 ozs Pics to follow
I'm with Dodgeguy, I'll be very happy to match last yrs 8.3
I want an 8 pounder and that means Cyprus record.
Its extremely difficult 2 do it but I hope I ll do it.
A new pb. And i am going to get it from a real lake, not the same old farm pond.
Rock- Home is where the heart is. You had a great year in that little farm pond. That qualifies it as a REAL lake! (to me anyway)
I've only got one real shot to fish good weather and that will be April while I'm on leave. Post spawn for Louisiana. I'll only be able to get one ONE day, two max in a row-boat with my usual 6'6 Quantum TE rod and baitcaster reel. I only have one tacklebox available...the one with my jigs and hula grubs. The lake is huge with tons of cover with no outstanding features in Louisiana.
sounds bad?
I got a feeling this is the one trip where I'm going to hang my 10lber. Gotta go against the odds and always root for the underdog. Everything is against me with the exception I have my favorite rod and reel and favorite baits. I've gotta make it a big trip since this is going to be the only good one this year.
Good news is if y'all are doing Fork next year, I'll have my 18ft Xpress with that Yamaha 150 Vmax. Thank god for combat pay
I am going to be pretty realistic for the state of MO as far as the area I fish are concerned. I am going to saty on my 5 lb goal I never even got a whiff of last year. Pretty hard to find the pig from the bank, so I think I am going to be trying to get more boat time...even if that means I am paddling. I'll have a good chance in April at Little Dixie I think.
As far as smallmouth go, I would be content just to catch one. Never even hooked one of the little brown scrappers. I have found a section of the Big River in MO that is not far from here that hold Smallmouth...and wouldn't ya know my cousin lives right on that section of river with a boat. I think I will start pretty modest for the smallies. 2 lb smallie in '07 sounds good to me.
Well, last year I predicted a 7+ smallie, and I had her on, and due to my being DUMB I lost her at the boat.
I've been stuck on 6 lb-15oz for too long. I'm predicting (hoping) to break the 7# mark this year. I know they are out there, I just have to use my head when I have her hooked.
Wish me luck,
Falcon
Well looking for a new personal best 5+ lbs. I have been stuck on 4 for to long. It is so sad
Being that im pretty much new to the sport and my PB now is a 3, ill take anything that breaks that but shooting for a 5.
I'll predict a 6 lber. I think it can be done at my local pond, accessed only by me and my friend.
I am going to shoot for a 5 pounder.
LMB over 10, SMB over 7, and 5 fish limit over 20...during a tourney (already done the 20 lb 5 fish deal while pre-fishin). Im sure I will do the PB upgrades while pre-fishin too, I can never pull em out during a tourney.
I'm saying 10 pounds, 4 ounces. From Toho.
I've been close but I've never broken the 7 lb barrier. I think this is the year. I'm really looking for an 8. I've got this large pond that I've been fishing and the owner nailed a 7 lb'er during the spawn last year. He doesn't fish it very often. I've caught quite a few 4's and 5's from it in 2006. I'm going to try to do this in January and February because the few other people that fish this aren't winter fishermen.
I'm really hoping for 6lbs 9oz or better. A 7 would be awesome.
I want to break the 7 lb mark because I have not done it since 04. Although this spring I am going to hit it hard and try and land that Iowa State record. Big dreams but I believe a few bodies I fish could hold one.
I am shooting for 7lbs green, 5lbs brown. Verified by scale this time!!!!
This is the year I finally break 6# for largemouth! I'm shooting for a 4# smallie too.
Well my PB is 5lbs 13oz and the lake I fish is known for "monsters" (as my boyfriend puts it) so I am hoping for atleast a 7lber this year if not bigger!!!
I am going for a 17 lber. I hooked it three times last year, two pull-offs and one break-off, same fish, same submerged tree, saw it once on the surface. I got the address, just need to complete the task.
13 pound Largemouth is what I'm shooting for in 2007. Got the double digits in 2006 so it only makes sense to up the bar.
I'm shootin for a 8lber largemouth. I doubt I fish anywere with smallies of any size this year.
Hopefully ill beat my 7lb 4oz lm i guess we'll see
im hopin for a 5 1/2 to 6#.
aaron
I'm going for it this year.
10 lbs.
I will settle for nothing less
avid has spoken
I'm always up for a ten, but you know, I'd settle for an 8 or 9 this year. . .
God just grant me the health and well-being to get out and try!!
As a newbie I will be ecstatic if I can land a five pounder. I am counting on the Lake Fork trip and all of the expertise that will be surrounding me to help me achieve my goal.
Mike
I already surpassed my 2006 best and LBH's 03, 04, 05 is a close call and he was DQ in 2006 for weighing in his live bait
1-6-2007
Well, my best to date is 3lbs - 15oz.....sooooo, i'm shooting for at least 4lbs even
Jason
Largemouth has to be at least 6 pounds this year.
Smallmouth has to be the same!!!!
Not so much a prediction as a goal:
5 over 10, another teener would be nice
8.5 lb smallie
3.5 lb crappie
13lbs to break my 12lb record.. ;D...We need a fishing forum for the Hawg of Fame..The only post you can put in it is 10lbs plus fish, with time of day, lure caught, water depth, temperature, rising or falling barometer and other details..This would be a great way for us to put or heads together to catch big fish..

Dont forget that size is relative to where you live....10lbs may be common at Varner and Nunya, but in PA that is pushing state record territory.

Anything over 7 and it will be a great year! I will always take the 4's 5's and 6's too, as those are few and far between up here.
I'm going with a 10 this year
I'm predicting a 7 or 8 and hoping for a double digit. In the lake I fish,a 10-12 pounder can be done if you spend a lot of time on the water, but if things don't improve from last year I think I'll be stuck in the 7-8 lb range.
Hoping to break 6lbs in '07 this year. I had him last year but he broke me off!! It's ok I know where he lives I'll get him when the Michigan ice melts.
Considering last year was my first year truly bass fishing I"ll be very happy to break the 4 to 5 pound mark. Since I"ll be at Lake Fork I wouldn't mind hooking on to a 10 pounder. ;D
Im gunning for anything over 6 lbs this year....and of course the Iowa state record largemouth (10-12 since 1984)
Mine is just the opposite of Fourbizzle - I would like 10 over 5 since 5 over 10 is just be a dream for most of us in New England (except for LB Hooker)!
And one more over 6.6 to beat my PB.
Last years post I hoped for at least a 5Lb 5oz in 2006. I actually caught a 7Lb 1oz. So I'd like to beat that and get my first 8+ lber. I have caught 2 over 7lbs now, but I still haven't caught one in the 5 and 6Lbs range.
Now that I have a nicer boat I hope to make a southern road trip sometime and go for double digits. Probably not this year, but my son finished college this year and after he makes his first $million$, maybe he'll pay for the trip. 8-)
Last year I had a shorten year last year due to a deployment and some boat problems, but I still managed a 4lb 10 oz LM and a 3lb SM. For 07, providing I stay in New Mexico the entire year, I will aim for a 5lb LM and 4lb SM.
I wanna break the 8# barrier at the Fork Trip. 4 two pounders will be more like it ;D
Up here in the North it's tough to get Bass over 5 lbs., on a regular
basis. There are plenty 3-4# fish to be had, but 5+ takes some work.
I did manage to catch a 6# bass two years ago and last year my biggie
was 4#. I would be a happy camper if I can hook a 5#+ fish in '07.
I sincerely believe a few 5's are coming my way....especially during
our Monday eve. tournaments .

I'm shooting for something over 9lbs. I caught several 6 lb-ers last year and a 7.5 lb-er. I'm eager for Spring, because I'm getting my butt kicked this winter!

ONLY 5.7 :oMAN YOU GOT SOME HIGHHHHHHHHHH STANDARDS
I am going to fish some more lakes with bigger bass around my area my PB right now for a largemouth is 6lbs 4oz so an 8 lb largemouth would be nice.I don't catch many smallies except when I am fishing for stripers LOL so one over 4lb would be nice since my PB smallie is 3 1/2lbs.
My pb is 8.5 lbs, so anything over that would be nice. If I catch a 10 lb lunker, I think I'll put my rod down for a few minutes, stare at my fish, and have a Bud....
NOT TO GET SKUNKED!!!!!
My goal is to break the Toledo Bend record of 15.32 lbs
Ff the wind will ever get under 20 mph id like to get anything over 6 for sm and 8for lm
smallmouth 6#
Largemouth 6#
Sturgeon 10' +
Salmon 42#
Stealhead 16#
i want to get a 7 pound smallie
I have a 10, 10.8, and an 11. If trend continues I say it would be wonderful to get a 12 this year. Go to Mexico about every 6 months. Will be there in two weeks on the full moon. Maybe I can stick one full of Tilapia and eggs. Will let everyone know how it went.
