Just got word on a new show on Versus that just aired today. Big Bass Battle.
It will show again, Thurs @ 1:00 PM EST and Fri @ 10:30 EST.
Just a friendly heads up to those who have the itch to watch some fishing shows, but are tired of watching reruns of City Limits!
If this violates any forum rules, please feel free to delete. I am in no way affiliated with Versus. I just remembered seeing questions about City Limits and new episodes, figured this might help scratch that itch!
Just watched part of it....one of the most boring fishing shows I've seen in a while.
Here's an entertaining fishing show for you...
RLR (The most notorious man in the universe) bass fishing...on his Lambor-bass-a-boat-ghini with all his fancy gear 8-)
The show can be called Dos Bass-equis 8-)

I'd pay a lot of money just to have that show removed from the airwaves. Theres gotta be laws against TV pollution somewhere.

Do you prefer regular toilet paper or a paper towel to wipe all that stuff off your nose? :-*
Wow...
I'm gonna check it out.I don't have to work Thursday or Friday. I hope it's not as boring as redlinerobert says it is.
I DVR most fishing shows. There's only a couple that I really like...the format of this show just didnt hold my attention.

Aside from Mark Zona's show I find most are pretty boring, that said I still watch many of them. Watching fishing is just not as exciting and actually fishing. I will say that on another site many folks said it was good.

I've been hearing great things about it from others. I watched a bit of it, definitely better than a lot of the other shows in my opinion. Some shows don't show enough fish catching, and some are just too unrealistic.
I still think the absolute best fishing show is The Bass Pros (which is on vurses now instead of ESPN).
That show wasn't too bad. I still like Hook N' Look, and The Bass Pros.
Just saw Ultimate Match Fishing with Gerald Swindle and Mike Iaconelli scheduled for Friday. That is going to be a show to watch.
Well for those who like zona his new show starts 12/31 on the outdoor channel at 8:00pm eastern time.

Come on David....you're a good guy. Lets be real here though. The ONLY reason you're posting about this show is due to the fact that Gary Dobyns is in it. If he wasn't, you'd not be making this thread.

Isn't BR member Tom Redington involved with that show?
Just watched it.
The bad: virtually no instruction. What I like to see most from the anglers is their presentation; rarely is this ever shown on a fishing show and BBB is no exception.
The good: smack talking and buds beating on each other. You can usually find better beatdowns here, but it wasn't all bad on the show...

Yes, we should be seeing Tom in an upcoming episode
Another crappy fishing show...
I think one of my all-time favorites was Schooled By Denny Brauer.
I'm not seeing it on the Versus listings at 1. Is it still going to be on? I am interested in watching it.
It airs this morning after Aarons Outdoors. 10am on the west coat.
Alright, well it was the first episode. I hope it improves, if not it wont last. There is alot of potential, but the producer did a really bad job. Lets hope that future episodes improve into something good.

yeah.....I had a hard time watching the whole 1/2 hour of it. I've seen better videos from members on here from you tube.It was BORRRRRING!
I fell asleep after watching a few minutes of it. I woke up just in time to see the end. Yeah. That was....yeah.
I thought it was decent. It's nice to watch fishing when you can't actually fish.
I also thought it was cool that they had Gary Dobyns on the show.
Haven't watched it on TV, but went on utube and looked at the sneak peak. Meh, If it was on i guess i would watch it. Why does that one guy need the title of "Army Bass Angler"? Does he fish FOR the army or something?
Bah, not impressed. Looked like a 30 minute Lake Fork Tackle commercial.

IIRC, they're one of the show's sponsors.

Yes, it is a team. Not sure if he is still in the army, but I think he is. If not he was in, he mentioned it in the show.
It looks very similar to The Scott Challenge, which is one of my favorite shows, so I have high hopes!

That dude is aggravating as hell. I didn't even watch all that much of it and I heard more "hooahs" than I heard the entire time I was on active duty while watching the show. I wanted to punch him in the jejunum.

Lol, i just watched the SNEAK PEAK on utube and i though he was kinda douchey!
QuoteThat show wasn't too bad. I still like Hook N' Look, and The Bass Pros.
i think hook n look gets kinda old.Theres not a whole lot of catching in it and almost everytime the underwater stuff is the same.Plus he never shuts up about his POC evinrude lol

Kinda like Roland Martin saying son every 5 seconds?lol and he'll get like a topwater strike or something and be like that was so cool that was so cool man that was so cool (couple second pause)... that was so cool did u see the way he came up and ate that thing?that was so cool

True, I like Scotts show also. The difference is that 2 anglers vs 4 anglers in a 30 minute show. Im hoping it gets better.
I really like Ultimate Match and the Bass Pros as far as bass fishing shows, but Flats Class is by far the most informative show on TV. Much info learned even carries over into freshwater.
In my opinion you're crazy to mention a fishing show on a message board or forum since everyone seems to like different stuff. You'll get a few people that like it and most people will complain about it. I wish there were more fishing shows period. I'd rather watch fishing than just about anything else on TV. And if it's a local guy on it, I'm happier to watch it that way. I know I was really excited when Jarrett Edwards got his own show.

Most of our local shows are boring.Like Angler West or the true bass show lol
UMF is bout all I watch.
Clancy W
I dunno if that was sarcastic but I LOVED truebass. If you wanted to learn how to fish they showed you just about as specific as possible.
I looked on both Thurs. & Friday and didn't see it listed here in MA? I have all the sports channels, including Versus and WFN.

Just got a chance to watch the show today, and I have one word for it....TERRIBLE!!
Sean, like you said there are 4 anglers, which makes it hard to keep up with the actual competition aspect of the show. I also noticed that the personalities of the anglers just aren't fit for their own show, if anything Gary Dobyns should be hosting.
That army angler needs to go...he tried WAY too hard to be funny.
QuoteJust watched part of it....one of the most boring fishing shows I've seen in a while.
They lost me after about 5 minutes. I tried again later and they lost me even faster.
"The Bass Pros" is my favorite simply because it consistently passes on good information. And this year they dropped Rick Clunn's "The Art of Angling" segment and replaced it with an instructional segment with Stacy King called "Bass 101." Good move.

I like the instructional shows - I hate it when I watch a fishing show and they don't tell you what exactly they are using, just some generalities such as "I'm fishin a shakey head". I watch fishing shows to learn stuff, watching some guys high five'n each other and yelling "SON" gets old.
And I don't like the shows were mainly they are selling a bait, seems like when they do that type of show, they are fishing a private lake bass heaven at a prime time of the year. If you want to sell me a bait, go out on a highly pressured public lake (and please mention the lake name) and catch fish. That impresses me a heckuva lot more.

x 1,000,000,000.....I love watching the Bass Pros show. It seems to be the show that teaches the most. Rick Clunn's portion was the only part i couldn't stand. I know he knows his stuff and has forgotten more info on fishing than i will probably ever know but listening to him talk was like listening to a CD with a million scratches in it. Stacy King has always be one of my favorites. I think he will do a fantastic job.
Haven't seen the new Bass Pro's show yet, but I'm all for dropping Rick Clunn's segment. Listening to him is like watching grass grow.
Show me different techniques....show me how a lure looks underwater when worked properly...show me SOMETHING besides somebody's home movies for crying out loud!
Did anyone catch Fish Fishburn's new show? I really like the boy, but that show was just painfull to watch.
Just watched the 2nd episode of Big Bass Battle . I know its hard to believe, but it actually got worse
QuoteDid anyone catch Fish Fishburn's new show? I really like the boy, but that show was just painfull to watch.
Just saw it and WOW ws that stupid. I really like Fish, but that was ridiculous, it wasn't even funny; however if I ever find myself trying to land a bass on a topwater while fishing from a tree stand in a pond with six pound line, that is the show to watch!
The only show that I watch every episode of is my buddy Larry's show, Hunt For Big Fish.

Well, after watching this show from my DVR, I actually had the same thought, because this show was painful to watch and wondered why someone would promote it so strongly.
As far as The Bass Pros, episode 2 of this season was on yesterday. The Bass Fishing 101 segment had Woo Daves featured in it this week and it was relatively informative. They really upgraded the show by removing the Art of Angling and adding the Bass Fishing 101 segment. I also like how they extended "Fishing in 4" to "Fishing in 5." Just an all around great show.

This is a good show....Thinking about ordering the DVD set.Not really a bass fishing show, but a great show nevertheless.
QuoteThe only show that I watch every episode of is my buddy Larry's show, Hunt For Big Fish.
He's not my buddy, but same for me. He does seem like my buddy though.
I have basic cable and there's not that many fishing shows on any more.
QuoteThe only show that I watch every episode of is my buddy Larry's show, Hunt For Big Fish.
Love that d**n show. What I wouldn't give to fish in some of the places he's visited.
What was the name of the green paddle tail worm the younger guy was using in the first episode? He said what it was but I can't remember the name. Thanks
I think all of those guys were using Lake Fork Plastics.

The only Lake Fork paddle tail worm I can think of is the Hyper Worm.
Hyper worm, that's the one Thanks
Watched Zona's show yesterday. He and Jeff Kriet were catching Smallmouth. They may be engaged. There was more hugging and crying on that show than a soap opera.
Kelley

Engaged? That's a new word for it ;D
I was trying to be "Politically Correct". I am sure any who read or saw the show will understand my meaning.
Kelley
Seems like a bad attempt at tongue and cheek "therapy" session. Came off thuper-fabulouth. Not that there is anything wrong with that.
There is no Brokeback fishing on BR. ;D
I DVR most all the fishing shows. After seeing the title Big Bass Battle I thought good, we'll see people trying to target bigger fish for a change. I quit DVR'ing the show after the second episode was worse than the first.
Bass Pros, Zona and the Lindner boys are the best fishing shows IMO. Almost forgot UMF & Pro Team Journal.
I watched the next episode of Big Bass Battle - I realize now that 1 episode was my limit. I can't watch any more.

I LOVE THAT SHOW. Redline you are one lucky son-of-a-gun to know him. His show is amazing, and he seems like a really cool dude.
Personally, I think he is one the best fisherman of all time.
