fishing user avatarbasshole8190 reply :

Hey guys I have an iPod I take out on the water and I like to listen to it when my confidence is low or i feel out of my rhythm I think it helps me a lot

And even gives me a tempo when using poppers or walking top water baits my most productive retrieve is to George straights all my exes live in Texas haha

fishing user avatarbasshole8190 reply :

Was wondering if anyone else does this?

fishing user avataraquaholic reply :

Never bass fishing, I have done it on river banks fishing for cats at night with a group of friends though.

fishing user avatarJellyMan reply :

I use my iPhone and a Jam Box to listen to music quite a bit. Just depends on my mood. Sometimes i like music and sometimes I like the sounds of my surroundings.

I'de say 15% of my time on the water is musical.

fishing user avatarGrizzn N Bassin reply :

Nah no musi for me

fishing user avatarGrizzn N Bassin reply :

Music

fishing user avatargramps50 reply :

Bank fishing I normally don't listen to music, but when in the boat I will normally play some CW music.  BTW normally I am in the boat by myself so the music is my company.

fishing user avatarThe Commodore reply :

It matters if I am fishing with a beer or not.  If so then it will be classic rock or late 80's to early 90's country.

fishing user avatarrmcguirk reply :

Yes.  About half the time, I will have my music playing on my phone.

I do the same thing when I'm out fishing by myself. Although my music is a little more intense than George Straight. Try walking the dog to some Godsmack lol!

fishing user avatarA-Jay reply :

I am very fortunate to be able to fish places that provide an abundance of "Natural Music", day and night.

Anything else, would just be noise.

A-Jay

fishing user avatarDarren. reply :

Nope. Only time I listened to anything (once) was an NFL game while on the water. Prefer to be with the "noise" of nature...

LOL, we were thinking the same thing, A-Jay.

fishing user avatarHyrule Bass reply :

depends. if i am on my uncles dock at SML then i will be playing music. most of the time im night fishing there, music helps drown out any creepy sounds and entertains me when the fish arent biting...

fishing user avatarchromedog reply :

I always listen to music.  Mostly country or classic rock.  Unless the family is with me.  Then they want to listen to the top 40 type stuff.

fishing user avatarBankbeater reply :

When I take the kids fishing they bring some music.  They don't get so bored if they're not catching.

fishing user avatartrailer reply :

A radio is the one feature I wish I had on my boat. I have considered installing one. If I had one I'd play Stranglehold every time I launched! It wouldn't help me, but it would be nice.

Lol yea I have some heavier stuff too George straight seems to be the most productive

fishing user avatarFishing Rhino reply :

No music for me, but I see nothing wrong with it.

After all, fish and music have something in common.  Both have scales.  :eyebrows:

fishing user avatarpeachhead reply :

Sometimes I listen to sc baseball or NASCAR.

fishing user avatarflyfisher reply :

When i am fishing by myself i always take the iPod shuffle and keep it at a volume that i can hear the music and still hear stuff going on around me.  If i am fishing with friends then the music stays home.

Probably catch the heck out of some peacock bass with that retrieve!

fishing user avatarBassAssassin726 reply :

Im obsessed with music. Ive been playing guitar since I was 6. Music means a lot to me. For some reason though when Im out fishing I prefer the sounds of nature. The birds, the bugs, frogs, all that good stuff. Its peaceful and relaxing.

fishing user avatarjherm87 reply :

Just depends on the day. I've had some very productive days with an ear bud in. It helps me to stay focused and keeps me from being too antsy

fishing user avatarderekxec reply :

i listen to music whenever im fishing through pandora except when im fish saltwater flats...then i have to make sure im very quiet always lol

when shark fishing in a boat i like music that has a hard beat to it for attraction :D

fishing user avatarslonezp reply :

Music fun fishing, no music tourney fishing. Bears games during fall fishing.

fishing user avatarWhiteMike1018 reply :

Id never do this, its great to hear when fish or shad pop on the surface around you and I think the noise of nature also helps give clues to figuring out a pattern.

But music is definitely in my ear alot when im not on the water.

Don't get me wrong I enjoy the sounds of nature too but its good to have something to help me boost my confidence when its low
fishing user avatarJames Beck IV reply :

when my cousin and I head out for our Sunday Trip, i always play im gonna miss her- Brad Paisley, on the way to the lake its our theme song lol

fishing user avatargrizzgreen18 reply :

If I'm getting off my 12 hour night shift and go to my local pond I always play my real heavy music ( old Metallica, lamb of god, slayer) but if I'm off and I go by myself then I normally listen to Waylon or brad paisley.

If I'm with my buddies or my girlfriend the music stays in the car

fishing user avatarww2farmer reply :

I always have my ipod with me. When I am by myself and the fishing is slow, I use it. I honestly think it helps me from saying " screw it, this sucks, I am out of here" and instead has kept me on the water long enough to figure something out, or they turned back on. When I am with people, I leave it off.

fishing user avatarK_Mac reply :

I love music and it is a big part of my life, but with that said I agree with A-Jay. When I am fishing or camping I want to hear what is going on around me, and do not want music, news, or anything else making noise. I don't really care if others listen as long it is not cranked to the point where it is shaking screws loose on my boat...

fishing user avatarBuckMaxx reply :

Bottleneck or jawja Boys Youtube em.

fishing user avatarSam reply :

No music, radio, TV, iPhone, iPad, computer, dropping stuff on the floor, dropping storage compartment covers, rattling through your baits and while in my boat, no farting!

I need complete silence to concentrate on fishing.

Music, news, sporting events takes my concentration away.

And I don't want those little green SOBs to get any additional advantages.

fishing user avatarGeorgiaBassBros reply :

I usually will have some music on while im fishing. i prefer country or metal like pantera, metallica, five finger death punch.

fishing user avatarderekxec reply :

lets all go on sams boat and...

lol

fishing user avatarKoofy Smacker reply :

Always. Actually Im about to install speakers into the boat to keep the phone battery at a max. Its always techno music though. Odd thing is that my friends or guys tell me to turn it on when we are out because we always get into fish when I do

fishing user avatarHighhawk1948 reply :

I like the quiet.

fishing user avatarScott F reply :

I love listening to music but when fishing, the only music I want to hear is my drag singing.

fishing user avatarFish Chris reply :

I LOVE loud, clean music. Crank my 1600 wt system all the way to the lake :) But once I'm on the water, I don't want to hear anything but nature. With my ADD, my effectiveness would be cut in half, if I were listening to music, while trying to fish.

fishing user avatarjames 14 reply :

I'm a music teacher and even I don't want music while in the boat. I'd get distracted by it and would miss stuff going on around me like fish hitting the surface or any number of other things. I also don't want any excess noise in the boat to spook the fish.

fishing user avatardeaknh03 reply :

If you want to catch the big, wily bass, read Bill Murphy's book. He is of the notion that the music, and basically any other noise, will spook most bass away from your boat.

fishing user avatar---=Martin=--- reply :

No music for me. The quieter the better. Fishing, besides giving the the thrill of catching my next largest bass or snakehead, also is my zen time :-) i like it nice and quiet...

fishing user avatarSuthernProg reply :

I'm a music fanatic, but I don't cuz I wont hear the big splash of a big fish behind me, or the hiss of a moccasin dead ahead.

fishing user avatarSherlock 60 reply :

I prefer the peaceful sounds of nature while fishing.

fishing user avatarTopwaterspook reply :

No music for me.

fishing user avatarSeth12 reply :

If I can pick up service for pandora I usually listen to country if I am cat fishing. But normally only have music If I am on the pier with a few people fishing.

fishing user avatarMarkH024 reply :

Never in the boat for me. Bank fishing on the rare occasion that I do, I have headphones in for my phone so sometimes I'll have Pandora going.

fishing user avatarKyle Mahaffey reply :

If I'm cat fishing I do because it passes the time while waiting for my pole to touch its feet. But I will if its slow and thinking about going home.

fishing user avatarwhitwolf reply :

I  prefer the solitude and peacefulness of fishing which Is why I never play music, keep the phone on vibrate, and during the warmer months I go only at night when the pleasure boaters, jet ski's, and the party folks are at a minimum.

fishing user avatarLARGEMOUTH ANGLER reply :

not bass fishing but inshore fishing yes to pandora

fishing user avatarOregon Native reply :

I go fishin to enjoy what our good Lord has created and to listen to the various sounds and like when I fished Lake Powell the absolute silence.

To each their own and tight lines

fishing user avatarATRoberts reply :

I sometimes listen to music while fishing. I would like to put some speakers in the boat. I like to use my phone to listen to Pandora whenbi am out on the water.

fishing user avatarAK-Jax86 reply :

I play music on my iphone while i fish

fishing user avatarA-Rob reply :

First thing in the morning no music for me... I just enjoy being there.

Later on in the day after the 1000th cast sometimes I'll throw on some skynyrd, allman bros, alan jackson, eric church, george strait or some sheepdogs for my mid day pick up!

fishing user avatarChuck D reply :

Yep, I listen to tunes now and then or a ball game but through a head set if I do it but I usually don't as I'm replaying a lot of my recent days/weeks in my head and sorting myself out which is part of what I love fishing; time to decompress and slow my mind down.

I prefer to be quiet when on the water as I fish really clear water and heavily pressured lakes so stealth matters (at least to me) but sound doesn't distract me when I'm fishing so I can enjoy some tunes now and then.   If I do, it's usually fishing for a reaction bite like cranking, spinner bait fishing, topwater, etc as when I'm fishing the bottom I close my eyes quite often to focus more on my "feel" and keep in tune with what my bait is doing.

fishing user avatarMikey40 reply :

Motley Crue - "Kickstart my Heart" first thing in the morning!!  I would say I listen to music 50% of the time while fishing alone!!

fishing user avatarJaxBasser reply :

I love music, maybe almost as much as bass fishing. I never listen to music while I bass fish though.

fishing user avatarbartdude186 reply :

Only if i'm catfishing, bass fishing i can't or i will lose focus and miss strikes. but after a long day of not catching anything, the trip home requires some old school Metallica blasting from my 1500w system.

fishing user avatarYakenMax reply :

Great idea

fishing user avatarBass-minded reply :

Music? When fishing? That's possible? Hahaha!!!

fishing user avatarrabidsquirrel reply :

My answer to this question is "rarely"... I have a decent radio setup in the boat, and an auxiliary jack so I can plug in my phone to the radio (Spotify).

I do, however, smoke cigars when I fish. So does my fishing partner...

:coffee2:

fishing user avatarGotfishyfingers? reply :

I was just thinking about the effects music being played has on fishing lately. Will it spook them and get them excited?? I'm in the process of installing a mp3/ radio system in my boat.  I was thinking if the Hydrowave gives off sounds that are suppose to fire up the fish into biting, then why wouldn't other sounds possibly do the same thing, right?  I can't wait to get this thing installed on go jam out while fishing and go to test my theory. Hopefully they like techno! lmao :respect-059:  :eyebrows:
