Alright, here's the deal guys:
So I was walking down the mall in Nashville, TN, the Opry Mills Mall to be exact. I was down there for a bluegrass convention (see my topic in everything else). So, I was walking down to Bass Pro Shops, when I see Kevin VanDam right beside me! I got my picture with him. He was on the phone, so I didn't bother him long, just enough time to get this picture.
That was a big deal for me, seeing my idol in the mall!
Did he offer up any advice?
Way to go man! He was at my local Bass Pro last April, but I didn't go down. I would say you got lucky there! ;D
Shoulda mugged him.
QuoteDid he offer up any advice?
Nope, he had a guy with him who was kind of hurrying him along, so I didn't take up too much of his time.
Burley...
What, I'm serious. I bet he had a good amount of folding money in that back pocket!
that is sweet i would love to meet KVD!!! did you get his autograph?
sweet man!
Why in the world was KVD in West Virginia? Taking out his trash maybe...? ;D
Funny Hookem It wasn't even in WV. It was in Nashville --->
I didn't get his autograph b/c my sharpie was in the car.

Oh, now that makes sense. People normally don't travel through WV just for fun.
It's pretty sweet that you got to meet him. I've never met anybody like that out in public (Although I did meet Hulk Hogan at the Memphis airport last year)
Hulk Hogan would be cool to meet! We also saw Vince Gill at that mall. I need to go there more often!
Awesome Pic Troutfisher, it's crazy how you just meet people at times you never expect.
He must hang out at Opry Mills a lot.
I live in Nashville and talked to him at the BPS store about three years ago. He was in street clothes and chasing his twin boys around the store. They were just in town messing around.
Really nice guy, and from what I hear, he's a pretty decent fisherman too.
KVD was always friendly at the old Bassmasters University series.
And his seminars were excellent.
He is a great ambassador for bass fishing.
Maybe one day you can meet him and he will autograph your photo.
In fact, maybe you can send him a letter asking him if he would autograph the photo.
If so, get it blown up to 8 and a half by eleven and send it to him along with an envelope with postage on it so he can mail it back.
You did good.
Excellent! Glad you got to meet him!
P.S. Never leave your sharpie in the car.
Ronnie
Cool dude
Any time there is a Bassmater or FLW tournament near where y'all live I would plan a trip to the weigh-in.

You lucky dog!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That was great, 2 years ago I saw Harold Allen sitting in the lobby at Wal-Mart in East Texas but i did not get an autograph. It kind of shocked me.
Now that is something. It's one thing going to where they are supposed to be, and see them, but to see them out and about is all the better. It does look like he was working though. Maybe was heading to, or just coming from, something at the BPS???
Cool!!! Meeting celebrities is always a thrill, at least the ones who act like human beings instead of arrogant "head cases". IMO:o)
Nice, glad you got to meet him. I am never lucky enough to get to run into anyone like that.
good stuff! I'm meeting Jay Yelas friday night, so i'm looking forward for that
I was driving from Tallahassee to Kentucky Saturday and stopped in that BPS store. I slipped behind the curtain and got to watch Denny Brauer do a presentation about, of all things , flipping and pitching. I learned more from that presentation than I could have imagined.
I got tickled at Denny telling how he had eaten lunch with Bill Dance and Roland Martin earlier in the day. "Man, I have admired those guys ever since I was a little boy."
Looks like MR.Walmuts is trying his best to get you in his crew, gotta work on a gnagster name for you
PS Thats pretty cool, I remember meeting some of my mucial heros, enjoy these things they are the gifts of being a young man
I don't understand why everyone is so surprised to see someone out like that. They are just regular people like you and I, they just got alot more money and more people know who they are. But all in all they still like to go out and be just normal people.
Although it is nice to meet them and talk to'em like that.
Troutfisher: You may be interested to know, since you said you were at a bluegrass convention. That Ralph Stanley and Jim & Jesee McReynolds are from my hometown. I see Ralph all the time and know him quite well, he and my grandfather grew up together and were good friends.
That's awesome. Jim and Jesse had a great group, and Jesse still does good picking. I love Ralph's banjo picking as well. 8-)
J&J might have been from Coeburn, but they never really claimed the place.
Now Ralph, on the other hand... ;D Kind of like grocery shopping and running into Alice Cooper in the spice isle.
Yep, old Ralph gets around pretty good.
that's awesome u got to meet KVD! when i was on the water in Lake Toho during the Classic a couple of years ago i got to meet Rick Clunn...except i had my arse hangin over the back of the boat doin some business..he still waved though! ;D
Thats awesome man! KVD is a super nice guy. I was at an Elite Series event a couple of years ago on Lake Guntersville (KVD didnt make it to the final day) and I was really looking forward to meeting him, but didnt see him during the event. So, I was heading to my car and I look over in the parking lot, and hes walking right beside me! I got an autograph and all. He was super nice about it. Pretty neat!
