What's your favorite season to fish for LMB and/or SMB and why?
It was a tough call for me but the fact that it's just now starting to be ice out here in Colorado makes me realize how amazing and theraputic bass fishing really is.
Therefore, Spring is MY answer. Not just because the possiblities of catching an egg filled TOAD while she's pre-spawning is obviously larger than other seasons, but because all the possibilities of whats to come in the months ahead linger right in front of me. My fishing imagination goes wild in the sping, compared to other seasons. VERY tough call, but it's Spring for me.
RIGHT NOW !!!!!! 8-)
FALL. Topwater, schools, less people on the lake, better weather.
Spring through early fall for green fish.
Autumn through winter for small jaws.

My favorite is spring synonymous with pre spawn. Fish are generally heavier and more cooperative for me.
I like them all. some of my best fish have come through the ice. Nothing like pulling out a nice one through that hole. Always amazes me how people don't want to get out there in winter.
I get out when I can, regardless of season, and don't have a favorite, because if you know what the fish are doing all year is a great time to be on the water. Only time I don't like is when it gets "hot", but luckily I live on top of a mountain so I stay pretty cool all year.
Post spawn for LMB, Fall for SMB
For me it is an excellent question, this is the first spring I am fishing for bass. I will have to let you know. I normally don't get out bass fishing till mid June.
Easy one for me. Ice out to ice up. I love it all.
No ice out in Alabama
I just like any time I can get out there period - each season is unique and offer its own advantages....I will say this last winter stunk with lots of rain, some snow, and more frigid temperatures than usual for Alabama, but mostly I get out year round and enoy it year round!!!
"a bad day of fising is better than a good day at the office"
Without a doubt it's spring time. When duck/goose hunting season is up, I am literally counting the days till the bass wake up.
Spring, and fall. Can't stand the summer, since I will get sun burn fairly quick. :-[
Summer! Even though it's hotter than heck this is the time I catch the most fish!
Heat of the summer in the cool of the night
Anytime the water isn't frozen.

...a.k.a. "construction season"
Pre-spawn, spring.

DITTO
To be specific, the "late" pre-spawn which tends to find receptive cows in shallow water (= More Big Fish)
Frosting on the cake are the hordes of mindlessly protective bucks

All of them
It has to be the late winter, early spring, for no other reason than the entire season is ahead of you.
Other than that, I really have no favorite season, or time.
Dead heat of summer, by far. First, there is so much pressure on the waters I fish during spawn, that I wish they would close everything for two weeks to give some of the fish a chance to spawn in peace. I think it would do wonders for the fisheries! By June, the bed jumpers are gone, and by July and August, it's so hot, I can fish all day and only see one or two other boats. I do quite well fishing deep in the dead heat of summer.
Spring into mid summer is my favorite, but if I have a rod in my hand, I'm happy.
September until mid-October. School starts around Labor Day and the jet skiers seem to suddenly disappear and there's only half as many people on the lakes. The bass are getting hungry, the water is cooling off and the weeds are thinning, and the leaves are changing. Listening to MLB Pennant Race baseball on my boat on a crisp Fall evening while chasing bass with a big spinnerbait is pretty much what I look forward to all Winter long.
Late prespawn when they are moving close to the beds, they start really hitting topwaters at that time too.
June/July/August
Deep crank, big spinnerbait, jig.
Mid spring to early summer for largemouth for me
QuoteJune/July/AugustDeep crank, big spinnerbait, jig.
Exactly except Texas Rigs & Jig-N-Craws on deep water structure
Why? When you catch a 10 lb+ it aint an 8 with 3 lbs of eggs!
Night time summer fishing. No crowds, no cold weather gear, and lots of heavy weights.
Last year I didn't do much bass fishing in the spring, so I may have a new favorite season after this spring. Last year my favorite was during the fall. I love catching fish after fish on cranks and topwaters.
