New Way To Watch Fishing Videos 2024

So I found a new way to watch fishing videos, on my TV, from YouTube.
This means virtually any video you find on YouTube can be played on your TV.
You need to have a Roku, which is a device that lets you stream content from the internet to your TV. You can buy them for under $100, and all you need is a high-speed internet connection and a TV.
Once you've got that you can subscribe to Netflix, Hulu Plus, Amazon Prime, and a plethora of other streaming services. I did this to "cut the cord" from my TV provider since I was paying about $80/mo to watch about 6 channels, now I pay $14/mo and have more TV and movies to watch than I can shake a stick at
......anyways.....
Once you've got the Roku and it's all hooked up, download an app on your iPhone/Android and also on your Roku called "Twonky."
Yea it's a weird name, but basically Twonky takes the video that's playing on your phone and beams it to your TV......it sounds too good to be true, but it's no lie!

The Roku is pretty awesome. I had the Roku 2 but got a Roku 3 for Christmas. The cool thing now - Roku has come to agreement with YouTube and now the Roku 3 has a YouTube channel. Roku and YouTube is suppose to come out with YouTube channels for older Roku's later in the year.
Anyway, the Roku is awesome. I have my YouTube channel synced to my regular youtube channel on my PC. So all the fishing videos I'm subscribed to shows up on the Roku. There are also pay channels and there are some pay fishing channels. Al and Ron Lindner has a channel. I subscribed to it for a month - for around $5.00 a month you can stream all their DVD's and Angling Edge shows.
Watching YouTube on the Roku is almost the equal of watching TV on cable. I can watch Nick the Informative Fisherman, Totally Awesome Fishing Show (although based in England the guy who hosts it is great), and a ton of other fishing videos/channels.

Yea Glenn, I heard that, but when I bought this Roku, there was no such thing as a Chromecast 
I hear Chromecast is pretty sweet too.
Either way, it's saving me a bundle over cable, and I still get to watch fishing vids on the TV, along with any other YouTube video. The other nice thing about Twonky is I've not found very many sites that it WON'T stream. So I can watch videos not just from YouTube but Wimp.com and other video sites. Pretty much any streaming video will work.

Alright guys I guess I have to step in and save all of you a ton of money. Just go to http://www.monoprice.com/ and buy a full length hdmi cord for $6 and plug your laptop in that way. But doing it my way allows you to use it in any room in the house. Im not sure about the Roku but I can put anything from my laptop onto my tv without paying any subscriptions. Im not going to get into torrenting or watching movies online everyone here can make their own judgement call on that. I saved upwards of $500 the past few years buying cables from them rather than best buy or different premium audio stores.

I have a 60" Vizio Smart TV. I can stream neftlix, hulu, amazon, youtube and more right to the tv with WiFi. I can also stream from my PS3 so if one fails, I have the other. No additional money spent here.

Got my Chromecast for $30. I can see YouTube vids and movies/tv shows from Google Play.
It rocks.

I thought of that route but my laptop, which is from work and IS monitored for non-work related activity, doesn't have an HDMI output. I'd have to get some kind of converter-whoop-dee-do cord and who knows how much that'd cost since this is a Mac. But the thought crossed my mind. We were already looking at cutting the cord, so the Roku just made sense for us.

That's my next purchase. I'm starting to get some screen burn on this 7-year old LCD of mine. My next will probably be a 50" LED Smart TV.

I just plug in my laptop HDMI port to my TV and watch YouTube videos for free. I could also watch Netflix this way too if I wanted, but I haven't been on there to look for fishing videos. Are there a lot on there?

Plus its much easier to sit there with my wireless keyboard and control my smart tv.

The mac adapter is in one of the links in my post lol. Also I wouldnt use my work laptop for anything personal its not smart.

Most tv fishing series are awful. I would much rather buy major league fishing and watch bassmaster videos. I wish *** did full length vidoes of a lot of the techniques they show.

I just use Sony Blueray to play youtube on TV, but typing with those remote control is p-a-i-n to me. Plus my current favorite fishing tv is www.apstv.net and it won't show up on youtube except for a couple of episodes.

Lots of $$ invested in the Apple ecosystem, so it's all Apple TV for me and the fam. Same thing can be done from any iDevice

Anyone try to watch Major league fishing on thier Roku using the MyMedia channel? I am wondering how it streams and what the quality is like. Would hate to waste the one time 5 doller fee if it doesnt even work...

I use Apple TV and "mirror" my phone. Watched several videos from TW's website the other day - Awesome. And like the others, it has a Youtube app built in - works great!

Bought a new Sony Vaio for Christmas. Once connected to the same network it become available to stream YouTube, Netflix etc. Pleasantly surprised.

Your just finding out about the amazing Roku? lol. I've had one now for thee years and love it. I now have a Roku three. I probably watch Youtube videos on my Roku on TV as much as I watch regular cable TV. Also, on my iPad I can watch YouTube videos and easily have them play on the Roku, pretty cool. But that Roku box, if you have good wireless, is a great little box. That Roku 3 I have does not crash as much as the Roku 2 and I've noticed it actually resets itself when it jams up. With my old Roku I had to sometimes unhook the power cable from it and hook it back up. Yeah, Roku is awesome and Roku 3 is super awesome!

If you have a lot of videos on your PC then download Plex on your PC and Roku. I've got it so I can stream my videos from my PC to my Roku and watch them on the TV. I can watch my fishing videos I took over the summer over and over (5 degrees here as I type). lol.

If your desktop or laptop has an HDMI jack you can just hook it up to the tv.

My DirecTV allows instant access to YouTube straight through them, no internet needed. Its just like I'm watching a recorded program on the TV.

The apps mentioned that are on Roku, most Blu-ray players and other Smart devices typically are popular sites (Netflix, YouTube, etc.). You won't find an app for bassresource.com or other specialty sites on these devices.
However, most of the better Smart TV's made by Sony, Samsung & Sharp also feature a web browser. This way you can access just about any website on your TV without having to connect or disconnect your laptop or phone (be it wired or mirrored). This will become a more normal feature for TV's in the coming years.

Another Chromecast user here. The new Chromecast app allows you to cast your entire screen so it doesn't even matter if you have applicable apps now - everything works. It is fantastic.
Somebody mentioned most fishing series are bad, while that may be true I love watching Addictive Fishing with Blair Wiggins. Its 99% saltwater but its good stuff. He has a channel on YouTube and I believe they have five seasons on episodes on there right now. Just watched him catch reds and trout in Vero Beach, FL.
