I like this option much better.
Powerplant lake or a tailwater that draws water from the bottom of the lake

x2
Or find flowing water
Flowing water is an option, but do be careful. What would be an easy wade or paddle in the summer can be a lot more dangerous come freezing temperatures and cold water.
@everythingthatswims is spot on. Look for streams. Focus on tail waters below a dam and protected areas with little current either in deeper water or near deeper water and fish slow. This time of year, dead sticked soft plastic/(preferably) pork, hair jigs, float and fly nymph rigs, and blade baits can catch fish. They will be lethargic, but if you find where they're stacked up in the cold water, odds are good that you'll have opportunities to catch decent numbers
Florida..................was 80 today. matter of fact all weekend...........................
I hate...or should I say envy all you southerners at the moment. @crypt if you add our high temps up for the next 5 days they don't even total 80! I need to move haha

Excellent choice . The bass fishing is on fire now since the bass are in pre spawn/spawn mode. Its only going to get better the next couple months. It's going to be in the low 80's this weekend, so you can fish in shorts if you wanted to.
What to whut ? Where ?
Hmmmm, now I notice, it's one of them yankee whining 'bout the cold posts, ok, so it's mid Dec, 3 or 4 more months to go ..... yup, by the time you guys thaw we'll be at 100+'degrees doen here ....

Them fellas don't believe in global warmin', with those temps hard to believe it's happening.
South of the Mason-Dixon
I miss fishing and it is very cold out here.
We went directly from summer to winter here. It was the warmest November on record and its been pretty cold in December (typical).
Frozen in Michigan ice fishing sucks, going to do a little couch fishing. I catch way bigger fish couch fishing anyways!

HahahahahahahahahbahaHahahahahahaha hahhaha
Acapulco.............
Fortunately, we have two different power plant lakes within one hour drive from my home in Mt Pleasant, TX. Water temps there rarely drop below 70 degrees. Still have to try and keep ice out of the line guide eyes but fishing is great
Sorry to have to tell you that sometimes you can't fish when it is cold outside.
You stay inside and reorganize your tackle and practice your flipping and flipping in the garage.
If I get the itch real bad and the temps can be tolerated , I go below a dam . I can usually catch something .

Yup, we're doing a week in the Keys in Jan, Costa Rica and Panama in Feb, and probably the Amazon in March, life is too short to own an auger...
When the lakes and ponds are frozen over and you hate ice fishing then you need to finding moving water. Here in NE Iowa we have great trout fishing and winter is usually when i go the most. The streams are always open and hardly anyone ever goes. I'll have the entire stream to myself and it's rare that I'll even see foot prints from any of the previous days. No weeds to walk through.
If there aren't any trout stream in the area then find a river or stream that has some kind of game fish in it. Fishing below dams is generally good all year.
I'd try the PlayStation.
where do you usually go?
I usually fish craigslist , e bay, this sites flee market ,etc... for deals
