I was thinking while driving of how cool it would be if we could get a list of boaters and non boaters that are interested in taking people from this site fishing. I'm buying either an Xpress or Skeeter when I get out of Iraq and I would be up for taking people who wanted to go fishing in my area out with me. I'll try to outline how it would work...
1) Dude traveling to Central Texas wants to do some fishing on Saturday.
2) He looks at the list and sees that I am a boater that will take people out with me with a little notice.
3) He PM's or contacts me via email with the date.
4) I tell him where to meet me
5) We meet up and catch fish
6) We post pics of the trip
This will allow some of the non-boaters in our areas or traveling members to get out on the lake with people that own boats and know the water...hopefully for the enjoyment of all. This site is good at connecting members by ways like the Members Challenge and the Pass the Mojo deal. I think this would be an awesome way to futher connect members of this site as well as help all become better anglers and build those memories. All that would need to happen is information get posted so it gets out to Forum members. Then post the respective lists as stickies in each of the regional fishing forums (central, southeast, west, etc...) This way will get people in the water even while they are traveling. What do y'all think??
Now that is an excellent idea!
I am also a memeber of kayaksportfishing.com and they used a site called frapper to make a map of all the members and where they lived for that same purpose. I just filled mine out. All it took was a username, email, and zip code and away you went.
I would be happy to see one of those for this site.

Yeah I'm hoping that there is enough feedback or people willing to do this and we can get this show rolling. Where's LBH when you need him? That's the progect man ;D
Sounds like a plan to me
I'm in. Central NJ and a comfy boat to fish out of. Electric only, but that's the law here. Send me a PM if you want to go out and test em.
Ronnie
My back seat is always open.
North East PA I have an empty seat (Elec Only) on a boat I have at Mauch Chunk Lake also fish a lot of ponds, strippin pits and shore of the Leigh Heigh River If your up in this neck of the woods you are welcome to spend a day fishing Mook Style!!!!
i've recently began trying to find someone to go fishing with.....I really don't have access to many ponds, no longer have a floaty fiberglass structure...so its been rough.
I'm in 95209 any boaters need a back seat filled out let me know
What we need is a list to help organize this. I'll help get it started if anyone has any ideas. I'm horrible at organizing things. You should see my tackle box.
I think it would be best if we got reps from each region to help put together their respective lists of boaters and non-boaters looking for a fishing partner. We could post them in the Regional forums to help sort it all out. I'd expect there to be a pretty good bit of feedback, so it will help readers to find their boater/non-boater partner if they can limit it down to a few states. What do y'all think?
Mods...if y'all approve of this we are gonna need y'alls input
def. a great idea...i've got a seat open (i cant promise you'll catch even a single fish...) but...ya know...i would also be willing to go with someone, i'm in southwestern mich...yeah...i'm def. game...
eh..

AT,
That's a good idea! Just having a list of people and their locations will open the door for more meet up possibilities.
If I travel from Belton to Stillhouse, will you guide me? ;D
What the heck; Try this:

Sure. I'll trade ya a trip to Stillhouse for a Belton excursion lol. A few things have to happen first. You have to convince Bush to let me out of Iraq then I have to buy that new 18ft Skeeter ;D As soon as I get out of that hole I get my boat. One more reason to hate that country lol
Anyone in western NY willing to open a seat for a non-boater? ;D Shoot me a PM, it would be appreciated!
Pat
Yeah Kayl...that would work. One question...how do you use it
In the upper lefthand corner, click "Join!"
Then it will ask you for your city and state (it will guesstimate based on your ip address, but this isn't always very accurate). Type that in. Then you can add more details like your name and a "shoutout". In your shoutout, you could list if you have a boat or not, what lakes you like to fish, etc.
Hope this helps, let me know if you need more help!
Justin
Joined the buddy map. Central Jersey boater.
My wife and I drove to Killeen TX for the birth of a grandchild. I posted where I would be and when on the right forum. Several folks posted where I might try to do some bank fishing and one member even had me get in touch with him to go with him on his boat. It didn't work out because of timing, but it wasn't from a lack of him trying. All you fellows know who you are. I wrote in and thanked everyone for their kindness. Just wanted to let everyone on the forums know how great it is to have friends you haven't even met
As Ever,
Skillet
BTW What a great way to meet each other!!!!!!!!!
Count me in too guys. Considering my schedule it may be tough but if the timing is right, I'd love to participate!
what a great idea! I am a non boater in waco Tx, i joined the map thing
Cliff
WHAT A GREAT IDEA!!!
Anybody in S.E. Michigan, or traveling through this area that wants to give Lake St. Clair a try, just P.M. me. If we set up some kind of a thread to post our names I'll sign up.
I have a 25' Baja Sportfish center console, 250 H.P. Merc I can take a couple people out with no problem.
It would be so nice to finally meet some of the people on this great site.

On this map site thingy...can more than one person be in the same city?
Ok, I like how it's going so far. That map site isn't as hard as I thought. I had to fight with it, but I got it in the end! Still waiting on a response from the big dudes of the site...
This is one of the main reasons for the "northeast, central, southeast, etc" sections.
If you'd like to meet up to fish with people in your area, post your info there.
About a yr ago, I had suggested a map of the country. Click on your state and enter your contact info if interested. It's a lot of work to set up something like that though. I always have ideas that are just perfect for adding more work to Glenn's plate, lol
Aint Texan- When are you due home? SAFE TRAVELS!
I'm in Omaha, NE and think this is a wonderful idea. I was thinking about this the other day and thought about special events like our COLLEGE WORLD SERIES. If someone is coming for that or fall football travellers coming to Nebraska ( NO BURNT ORANGE on the boat ). PM me and we'll go fishing and take in the event.
GO BIG RED
QuoteAint Texan- When are you due home? SAFE TRAVELS!
Ask your president. We've been extended "for at least three additional months" on top of our already longer than any other branch of service tour of 12 months. Marines go 7, Navy go 6, Air Force go 3-6, Army Reserve/National Guard go 1 year. Active Duty Army (ME) go at least 15months.
Currently it's looking like Jan or Feb...though it -should- have been this October. No telling though with all the nonsense going on on Capitol Hill.
Omaha, NE here also.
Same rule As RWHusker said,
QuoteNO BURNT ORANGE on the boat
Not to say I won't take Texans. Just can't wear that fish scaring color.
GO BIG RED
We also need some simple rules. I.E non boater can exspect to pay half the gas
boater sould let non boater know approxamet time there going to be on the water.
( I had a friend that got stuck paying 50 bucks for gas to a guy and only spent 2 hours on the water)

Agreed! I think common courtesies like this are definitely important when doing something like this.
Deb here, have a boat that's free during the week. Hubby fishes with me on weekends. Kentucky Lake, what a great place to be!
Agreed. Rules shouldn't be laid in stone, with the exception to one rule.
The Rule: Don't be a ****. Talk to whoever you're going fishing with and come up with a plan for gas, food, and time on the water, etc.
Other than that, all the rules should be decided on between the two or three individuals involved. IE How much gear to bring for the non-boater, where to store gear, and other simple courtesies.
I'm interested in this as well. I usually have an open back seat on Mondays or Tuesdays while school is in session. I fish north and north east texas lakes, ie fork, sandlin, roberts, texoma. I'll sign up on the map.
We need to find a way to keep at least the link to the map up somewhere where everyone can see it/access it at all times....
Count me in, I am in N. Georgia, about 10 minutes from Varner Lake where Randall catches all those hawgs,,, Electric only here though, for me anyway. I have already fished with 2 guys off the site here, and one of them is my tournament partner now. A great way to meet new friends.

I'm in! NE Michigan, Mio specifically. My "stump bumper" almost always has room for one more!!
I meant to add myself to your map yesterday and I got busy and forgot about it. While the regional forums are good, being able to look at a single map to find someone in a region is convenient and efficient. Good idea, Ain't Texan, and thanks for the map link, Kayl.
Boater. Central GA. Not much on electric only. Ponds and big water.
EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT IDEA!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!
I just got myself on the map.
I got a small canoe that i'll share (no room for a lot of tackle) on small inland lakes (weather has to be reasonable calm), or i'll ride on the backseat of your boat (shared expenses, I'll get the brew).
Watch out guys, i'll be looking some of you up. We have a time share in eastern PA and we exchange the resort most of the years.
