favorite "walk tha dog" top water bait 2024

fishing user avatarTournyFish001 reply :

Talk about your pick- maybe some tips as well- thank you

fishing user avatarDan: reply :

I voted for other. My new favorite is a Yo-Zuri bait that I don't know the name of. It has a soft, spongy coating and they walk amazingly well. Another favorite when I want a bait with a loud sound is the Rapala Skitter Walk.

fishing user avatarCFFF 1.5 reply :

I chose other. My favorite is the Spro Chug Minnow. I like this bait because it is easy to walk and it kind of spits as it walks and has a different profile than most walk the dog baits. My second favorite is probably the Zara Spook.

fishing user avatar5bass reply :

I voted Spook just because I've been throwing them for so long.

fishing user avatarskillet reply :

Got a Dalton Special at a yardsale quite some time ago. Used it for a long time, until I got worried about losing it. Found out lately, the fellow responsible for the original is making them again under the name Skinny Water Sam...

fishing user avatarPrimus reply :

I picked the Vixen as a favorite, however I like and use all the ones selected.

fishing user avatarwarmer reply :

Spro Prime Chug Minnow 35.  good luck finding it, DAGNABBIT!  why do the good ones always die young?

fishing user avatarmike bat reply :

i rely on the old school spooks love em ... i have a box full of the spro chug minows too ,, havent had a chance to toss em tho ... they sure do look sweet ,,, and the hooks on the chug minnows are insanly sharp ...

fishing user avatarBassNub reply :

lucky craft Sammy is just too expensive for me at the moment. unless someone wana donate heheh ;)

fishing user avatarfourbizz reply :

My vote was for the Vixen.

I've got a Jackall Bowstick on the way that I fell in love with. Their Chart shad just turns me on, lol.

Also kinda like mine too ;)

Rapala Skitter Walk

fishing user avatarguitarkid reply :

I have only used two, so I would have to say the Heddon spittin' image.

fishing user avatarDanny1991 reply :

Heddon Spook (Spook Puppy specifically) Never had much luck with "walking" baits until late this summer, had some great action during late afternoon. They would just explode on it! ;D

fishing user avatarflatbass reply :

I voted other-Storm Chug Bug. Maybe not a true walking type bait, but it does walk very well and will also spit, pop, and chug.

x2  I like the Jr Rattling Spook or the Puppy. The Sammy isn't my favorite, but there are some days when they will only eat the Sammy and not the Spook for some reason. :-?

fishing user avatarMunkin reply :

LC Gunnish 95

While I do have and use most of the others on the list none of them come close to the number of fish I catch on the Gunnish.

fishing user avatarInfidel. reply :

Spittin image for numbers and the 2x4 for the big ones.

fishing user avatarMALTESE FALCON reply :

I seem to catch more on my Spook's than my Sammy's. The Sammy is easier to walk-the-dog with, but I catch more with the Spook.

fishing user avatarfishfordollars reply :

Sammy 100 in Am. Shad

fishing user avatarCWB reply :

I can't remember who makes it but I have several ZZ-Top baits that cast a mile, walk with ease and have an internal vibrator-get your minds out of the gutter- it must be a spring and a weight arrangement.

Slightly smaller than a spook. I think it might be made by Norman.

Spittin' Image pretty good too.

fishing user avatarvon reply :

BPS Slim Dog.  I like that it has no rattles and slits on the throat for water spittin'.

fishing user avatarBassin_Fin@tic reply :

Tough choice since they all have their time and place and some just plain out work better in certin bodies of water than others.

My top choices ormy most consistent producers would have to be

sammy 128

BPS slim dog-awesome cheap lure

super spook and ss jr.

fishing user avatarfishinfiend reply :

I have been using spooks for a while with great luck. However, I just got a few sammy 100's and I really like the colors and action. I think they are a strong contender.

fishing user avatarLAO162 reply :

Rapala Skitter Walk - Easy to learn with, relatively inexpensive and easy to find...

fishing user avatarAvalonjohn44 reply :

Cultiva Tango Dancer.  Easiest bait to walk ever.  I bought a bunch on ebay a few years ago when they were pretty cheap.  Great colors, Owner Hooks, I can't recommend this bait enough.

Be careful on Ebay when searching for these, there is a chinese seller than has a crankbait listed as a tango dancer...

fishing user avatarbowtech_182 reply :

I really like the H20 express topwaters.

fishing user avatarbooneangler reply :

i voted for the spook i have thrown some of the others but just keep going back to the spook time and time again.

fishing user avatarSlingBlades reply :

Simple....Spook. Blue Shore Minnow.   ;D

fishing user avatarDADto4 reply :

My favorites for "ease" of walking are the spooks and spook pups,

But I also think that the Weed Demon is another bait that will walk and glide across any slop you can find. I got turned on to this bait by a coworker 7 or 8 years ago and it has continued to be good for me.

;)

fishing user avatarKYntucky Warmouth reply :

The Original 4-1/2" spook....walks with ease

fishing user avatarArcticCat500 reply :

I tried the BPS XPS Topknocker a few years ago and have had very good luck with them...they may not be the best but I found they work.

fishing user avatarFR0G reply :

Lunker Punker, Bobbys perfect frog, and of course heddons super spook. I haven't tried a higher quality version of a spook yet. The spooks work so great for me, and I lost them occasionally and I wouldn't be able to stand losing a 10$ plus bait.

fishing user avatarBassFishingMachine reply :

I chose the sammy because I've caught some nice fish on it, but the spook is definetly 2nd.

Its good to see one of the cheapest if not the cheapest lure in the bunch to be voted most effective. Just goes to show you, price is not everything.
