What does "firetiger" imitate? 2025

fishing user avataruicdent11 reply :

I have caught some of my biggest fish throwing a firetiger super spot over the last couple years. I was wondering what bait fish it imitates. Also, when do you have your best luck with this color. For me, it seems late summer and fall, but I didn't know if that was the norm.

fishing user avatarInfidel. reply :

If anything I would say a sunfish.  I think what it really comes down to is just something that gets their attention.  I never do good with this color in clear water, however, I've had a ton of luck with Chartreuse with a blue back Norman in crystal clear water.

fishing user avatarBASS fisherman reply :

I was thinking it imitates either a perch, or a gill.

fishing user avatarhercdoc reply :

Now I have always assumed that it imitates a crawdad.  I have better luck with this color in stained and muddy water than clear.

fishing user avatarSuskyDude reply :

I'm not sure it was intended to imitate a certain species of fish, but rather to be a bright, flashy, easily seen color.

Many darters (bottom dwelling fish) are brightly colored, but none that I know of have this particular color scheme.

fishing user avataruicdent11 reply :

I was also thinking gill. And I second what hercdoc just said about stained and muddy water. The lake I have had the best luck with it is stained.

fishing user avatarcbreeze22 reply :

bright and flashy for stained 8-) water and something fish isnt used to seeing imo

fishing user avatarCatt reply :

Fire Tiger represents that urge in the back of your mind where the bait monkey sits firmly saying buy it it's pretty!

fishing user avatarBassnMan Mike reply :

I'm not sure exactly what it imitates but I know I've had my best luck with the color when the water is dirty. However even when the water is clear it works at timnes.

As has already been said, something that really stands out and says "BITE ME!" ;D

fishing user avatarStringjam reply :

Isn't it obvious? A tiger that has caught on fire.

Jungle bass are far more vulnerable to the color, as they're more likely to see flaming tigers fall into the water.

Seriously, though...you can't go wrong with FT in any water color......you can tone down the hues a bit and it's a killer in clear water as well.   I have an old faded Bagley B-Flat in FT that kills in the clear stuff.

fishing user avatarBassinBoy reply :

Sunfish or a bluegill, and it's best for me in stained and murky water.

fishing user avatarBad to da Bass reply :

I'm with most of the guys here on this thread.  I would have to say it imtates a bluegill or a sunfish.

8-)

fishing user avatarCWB reply :

Looks more like a perch. Might not imitate anything but bright colors draw strikes in stained or dirty water and call in fish in clear water.

Might be a perch trying to attract other perch. (Not that there's anything wrong with that)  ;D

fishing user avatarDan: reply :

I always think about it as a perch color that is made to be seen in dirty water.

fishing user avatarMaxximus Redneckus reply :

yellow perch to me

fishing user avatarMichiganFisherman reply :

I'm with stringjam... a tiger that has caught on fire.  ;D

Seriously, I don't think it's meant to imitate any real fish.  It's just a bright flashy lure that triggers reaction strikes.

fishing user avatarThe Next KVD reply :

To me Firetiger is a very versitle lure color.  I think it imitates 3 creatures bass prey upon.

1. Yellow Perch (Big bass up here in the northland love em')

2. Sunfish ( A staple forage no matter where you go)

3. Crawfish (This one is for when fishing around rocks.  It imitates a green colored crawfish perfectly in my mind)

Tell me any other colors you can think of that imitates atleast 3 prey items?  I have a hard time coming up with one. ;) ;D

fishing user avatarThe_Natural reply :

It represents nothing in particular, but everything in general.  This can be said the majority of bass baits/colors.

fishing user avataretommy28 reply :

i dont beleive that it imates any thing it simply is flashy and visable and that is why typically its a fast moving reaction bait.

I was going to say something along those lines, to catch anglers.  ;D Incidentally, it just happesn to catch fish too. Gotta love firetiger!

fishing user avatarBassin_Fin@tic reply :

It imitates a bad day of fishing if I throw it. I absolutely detest that color >;)

fishing user avatarTrippyJai reply :

+1 for perch

fishing user avatardman reply :

I havnt thrown the color in years...The more serious ive gotten about fishing the less ive used it because it doesnt resemble any natural forage to me.......Maybe, Nuclear Perch ?

fishing user avatarStringjam reply :

Table Rock Shad doesn't resemble anything to an even greater degree than firetiger, but when Hughes came out with this color on Rogues they MURDERED down at Table Rock (super-clear) and other lakes around here.

If you guys haven't seen the original Table Rock Shad, it isn't subtle and nice like Lucky Craft's take, it's pretty loud and obnoxiously bright.

You can't have a closed mind in bass fishing......I fish clear water 90% of the time, and I've found that many times natural just ain't where it's at.

What's one of my best producing colors for clear water, winter jerkbaits?

lucky-craft-staysee-90-5.jpg

Now what in the heck does that resemble?  Doesn't matter.....it triggers bass.   ;)

fishing user avatarJ Francho reply :

I couldn't care less what it imitates, as far as I'm concerned it must look like breakfast, lunch, or dinner to the fish around here.  I use it in tannin stained water, green water, and muddy water.

fishing user avataruicdent11 reply :

It seems like stained/murky water is a fairly common theme. I would also add that overcast days seem to produce more and better fish on this color. Anyone have the same experience?
