fishing user avatarHarold Scoggins reply :

A rattle ball in place of blades?

fishing user avatarHarold Scoggins reply :

Guess I got to get out more, looks like TW has had them for a couple years.

fishing user avatarNittyGrittyBoy reply :

New to me too. Weird

fishing user avatarGundog reply :

They're heavily discounted at the Dick's in my area. Even with that nobody is buying them. Not sure if or how they work. Anybody use them?

fishing user avatarkenmitch reply :

They look weird in the water. Kind of a shake your booty bait.

fishing user avatarMIbassyaker reply :

I'm sure it will catch bass.  My question is: will it outfish a wrench???

fishing user avatarColumbia Craw reply :

Remember the thread about practicing your casting and Catt recommended practicing with what you throw when fishing?  I won't be practicing with this bait.

fishing user avatarBluebasser86 reply :

I don't believe the ball rattles, at least mine doesn't. It doesn't do much honestly.

Is the feel the same as with a Colorado or willow leaf bladed spinner bait or is it more thump or less thump?

Less, it really feels like it is doing nothing during the retrieve, like fishing a swimjig with a wire arm and little ball that kind of comes through the water and sometimes wiggles a little bit.

I have a few yo zuri baits...this will not be one of them.

Hear, hear! This is why I could never be a professional angler...when the contract says I have to do video promoting all their company products - I just couldn't do it even if I'm getting paid

fishing user avatarJ Francho reply :

Yeah, but it has that UV color fish can't resist.

fishing user avatarBig Rick reply :

There are two options. One has a rattle in the ball and the other has a reflective holographic prism square. I bought one of each on a whim and have never caught a fish on either. In all fairness, I haven't given them much water time either.

I think you could be as fair as you can and the results wouldn't change. The blade is the important part of a spinner bait and they removed that. You can reinvent the wheel but if its square it ain't gonna work.

Is that made by 3/16 tackle? ...

Well, they tout the vibration of the Knuckle Ball and it DOES vibrate. But, is it the frequency that attracts fish? I can't determine that.

fishing user avatarmatbellon3 reply :

These baits have worked well for me is stained water. Clear water not so much.

I wouldn't waste the $2.98 to find out.

I would. Looks solidly built an nothing a pair of dykes (I miss college) and a colorado blade can't fix...

fishing user avatarHawkeye21 reply :

I've been seeing more people talking about this lure lately which makes me wonder if they got it in their Mystery Tackle Box.  I got one in mine which I wasn't thrilled about since I already own one.  I bought one off of TW a year ago and only used it a few times because I really disliked it.

fishing user avatarColumbia Craw reply :

Okay, the challenge is on !  My local shop got some free and I will get one or two free and prove to all of you that this design doesn't catch fish. So there. Mark it on your calendar boys and girls. And when the data is in, the release of the guy that marketed this bait will be even more justified.

They aren' free here. Cabelas is asking just shy of $9.00.

Seems a bit pricey for a weird shaped Spinnerbait with a plastic ball instead of stamped blades.

fishing user avatarfin reply :

If the ball floated, so that the bait was balanced and would suspend, they might have something.

But a spinnerbait is esentially a weedless blade. Take away the blade and you've basically got a jig. Add a ball and you've got something to spook the fish.

A friend bought one, he wasn't too happy. He said he was expecting it to "do something".

Yo-zuri makes some beautiful stuff, I don't understand why they are pushing this product so much instead of some of their other stuff. The product description says, "3 years of testing and development". I guess they're trying to recoup some of that expense.

My local Walmart has $1.00 spinner baits that you don't need to add a blade to so I'll pass on the knuckle head bait.

Maybe I'll try that next year...

fishing user avatarvolzfan59 reply :

I bought one in each of the original four colors. Gave them several honest tries. Not impressed at all. I will say they had a good "thump" to them. If I remember correctly, only two of the colors had rattles.

fishing user avatareverythingthatswims reply :

I have never used one. My friend did say they skip like a dream, so maybe there would be a time and place for that.

Fish get a lot more pressure these days and it continues to increase with the popularity of angling and the influence of social media on angling. Fishing is "cool" now. With that being said, sometimes dumb stuff can work, because it is something that the bass haven't seen.

I still don't plan on trying a knuckle bait.
