Same here. I think I used Assassins before Flukes so they're an ingrained habit. The Assassins weigh about 15% more than the Flukes, but I was never able to detect any difference in effectiveness. I never tried any other brands because of a preconceived notion that my two brands were enough.
My first soft jerkbaits were Mr. Twister Slimy Slugs, very similar to Slug-Gos. They worked very well but I largely stopped using them--for reasons I'm not sure of--when I became acquainted with the Assassin-Fluke style.
My favorite fluke style baits are the Strike King Caffeine Shad in ghost shad and pearl blue, and the Strike King 3X ElazTech Z Too in blue glimmer pearl belly. But I have caught a lot of fish on the Zoom Super Fluke's too, pearl, glimmer blue, and bait fish have all produced very well for me.
try charlie chugos or lunkercity slugos- 4" with ewg mustad hook with barb insert and 12-15 lb flouro they cast 30-40yds and sink relatively well cause of the line. Want a little deeper insert 2 penny nails. These will get you quantity to fill the livewell and the occasional quality fish
Yum Houdini Shad, unweighted, 4/0 EWG hook, #10 line.
This rig can be fished through weeds or wood cover, twitched on top, walked slowly just under the surface, and, best of all, on the drop. Let it drop on the outside weededge. It has a wiggle on the fall just like a senko. None of the other "fluke" type baits has the wiggle. If you use heavier line you'll have to experiment with heavier hooks to get the horizontal fall and wiggle.

I saw this man in action! Give 'em a try.

X3
They no longer make the color "bluegill" which was, by far, my favorite.
Used to be a Zoom Super Fluke, now it's the Strike King Caffine Shad. The caffine shad has more salt, so it sinks and stays down better. On the fall it has a nice little tail wiggle too.....IDK if the fish care, but I like it. Color does not seem to matter, they bite them all, so I go with one I can see, like white.
Zoom Fluke in all sizes, usually I fish it with a 3-4' leader and a 4/0 hook, the leader is so the line will not twist up.
My favorite fluke style bait is the FLUKE.

Amen to that. Camo Pearl has been the next best color for me by far.
Super fluke watermelon seed with the tail dipped in chartuse garlic dye awesome in the mid summer months

Is that the "wrong color" you were fishing down here?
i like the zoom super fluke the best
Old school black/clear/silver flake SlugGo.
I'm pretty fond of the Boom R Ang, but it's terrible and you're all happy with what you have so don't go out and try them.

I caught a few on the shad color but no one try them.
I use Zooms for bass and I use DOA in saltwater. There is a guy I see almost daily, uses a standard Zoom and cheapo jig heads, like 10 2 bucks from Walmart, I use DOA and spend way more money. He catches as many as I do, who is the fool?........... Right, it's me !
Wherever I'm fishing I prefer light colors.
Always a Zoom Super Fluke. In clear freshwater I use Arkansas Shiner and Clear. In tannic stained water, Golden Bream or Houdini. In stained, Houdini. In saltwater and when visiting the big lakes in Tenn., White Ice. Ive caught more and bigger fish this last year on the super fluke than anything else, but probably cause I throw it 99% of the time. In any water that isnt clear I slip in a tiny glass rattle tube.
All time favorite is the Zoom Super Fluke . 2011 started fishing the Caffiene Shad and I'm very impressed with the action.
The Zoom super fluke is super. Unfortunately most of the anglers I compete against also think so. I went back to the sluggo to show the bass something different. So far it seems to be working.
Caffeine shad all the way. I love the fall on them.

Yep. I wish I had a buck for every time I've had somebody tell me that color is no good.
