New Trokar Hooks- World's Sharpest! 2025

I bought the flippin model and dropshot model a couple weeks ago and overall im not too impressed. Ive caught a few fish on both and can honestly say that they will stick more fish than gamakatsus and really dig into the fishes mouth due to the suuuuper sharp triangle point but for now there are other problems. On the flipping hook, which end up being $2.50 each, the shrink tube barb seems to be glued on and slipped on a few of my hooks. ill have to buy some quality shrinkwrap seperately now. The eyes arent welded so youll probably break off if you tie a snell knot for punch fishing with braid. The dropshot hooks feature an offset shank and, to my surprise, a dowturned eye. Any expert dropshotters have an explanation for this? it was difficult to make the hook ride straight up as proper so i took some pliers to bend the eye up and *snap*. Figured maybe too much carbon or something in the formula. tried the same thing with a new hook and this time was successful in bending the eye upwards and allowing it to ride straight up and hook em right in the top of the mouth this evening. Im kinda bummed about the inconsistency between the hooks of the same packs for the top $ price point. Another thing i was thinking of today was how all the hype of the points being crafted identical to surgical needles. As far as i know medical professionals do not re-use needles(granted mostly for hygienic reasons) and it seems that these hooks arent any different and are extremely difficult to resharpen. I thought the triangle design would make it easier but its veeery difficult to resharpen these guys once they loose their edge. I can get a dull gammi back to a razor point in a few strokes. Last note; theyre manufactured under eagle claw. Hopefully youve never had the misfortune of running out of decent hooks and resorting to wal mart eagle claw lazer sharp hooks and missing fish after fish. Honestly i think the $10 goes more towards the advertisement, flashy labeling, and big name sponsorships.What do you guys think?

thanks for a first hand review of these hooks, i was looking into getting some but was hesitant due to the price, i will now save my money and stick with my gammies, thanks again!

I tried them too. I will stick to gammies or owner. Trokar are similar to owner which are half the price.

I didn't think anyone would pay that much for hooks. I haven't had any problems with what I'm using to the point where it would drive me to spend 2.50 on a single hook.

Yea, well it was buy two packs get a free t sirt at bass jam and the $200 in cash spending money went to my head a bit, haha. Luckyly i put $119 of it towards a lamiglas excel bass rod

thanks for posting this. i was thinking about trying some out and now i won't. especially at the price they're charging. seems like eagle claw/wright and mcgill is trying to improve their reputation a little. i saw some of those fancy yellow wright and mcgill skeet reese rods at gander mtn. look real nice cosmetically, but they seemed a bit heavy and not very sensitive at all. even at that i might have tried one if the price wasn't $99.

you can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig. ;D

Tried them, don't like them. They are weak in comparison to Owner hooks. Yet cost twice as much.

I used Gamakatsu all summer and never had a problem so I will definitely stick to them. I also tried Owners and liked them alot too.

My big question why twice,3X the price? I don't get it....I lose enough hooks in one outing.I don't think I'd be able to afford them all season long.

I'll stick to owner hooks.

They're super pricey because they are the world's sharpest. Im pretty sure it's all mechanical sharpening, no chemicals. They go through the same process that surgical needles do. In reality i think the price is because they're the only of their kind on the market, are expensive to make, and have flashy labeling/packaging. Not to mention sponsorships....

95% of my hooks are gamakatsu's but i think I may start switching over to owner. I'll try the cutting point models a little more and see how they perform. I think they're a lot harder to resharpen than gamakatsu's so im not completely set

You cant really resharpen owner cutting points but they also hold and edge a whole lot longer than other hooks and the knife like point will go through the top of a hogs bony jaw like lukes lightsaber.

Personally I think the top brand hooks we have now are about as good as a fish hook will ever be and there can't be any justified reason to pay that much more for something else.As long as there are people that can afford whatever the heck they want in this world there will always be luxury products that are way overpriced and no better.

I am glad to see I'm not the only one that still sharpens hooks.8-)Many, if not most who post here will just replace a hook that is dull. I also use Gammy hooks which only need an occasional touch-up. Works for me.

I have pulled numerous Owners out from between the eyes of bass, and have very rarely had to change one out because it became dull. I will generally lose a hook to a snag before I lose one to dullness. Granted, after a few sets between the eyes and through the middle of the tough stuff, they aren't as sharp as they were straight out of the box, but they are still plenty sharp to get the job done and then some.

I simply cant justify the price tag of the Trokar, regardless of ability, when I already have something that works extremely well, and is generally hung-up and lost before it ever becomes too dull to use.

i buy matzuo hooks at kmart for $2.50 per 6 pack.they work for me.

OWNER CUTTING POINT are the best hooks period ............ 8-)

I saw those hooks the other day and was very tempted to buy them and try them out, but after reading this I realize they aint worth the money ha. I, like others, will stick to my gammies as well!!!

For regular hooks, I see no reason to even think about purchasing these hooks. However, I have been unsatisfied with every punching hook out on the market, so I did purchase a pack of the punch hooks.

The hooks are extremely sharp, but TOO sharp.

First fish - 2lbs - The very tip of the hook bent up and hook was ruined.

Tied on another hook. 2lber - Hook ok. Then another 2lber, hook tip bent.

I bent 3 hook tips on 5 fish all under 3lbs. I threw the rest away.

Interesting. I haven't fished these hooks enough to get quite the same result but I did experience the tip bending on the dropshot hooks with some minor snags in brushpiles that didn't even snap my 6 lb test. I'm just curious to know as to if you've tried paycheck bait's punch hook? It's manufactured under gamakatsu and you have to apply the shrinkwrap barb yourself but it seems like it's one of the better punching/flipping hooks on the market
