JJ's Magic has been getting a lot of play here on the Forum,
and I'm a fan, too! However, I am also a big fan of MegaStrike
Fish Attractant, especially this year's new formula.
Bobby says unlike other products that may hold a fish longer
once it has committed to the bite, MegaStrike actually improves
the bite count. Two examples are (1) short strikes and (2) final
commitment.
We have all experienced fish slapping a lure or striking hard,
but missing. Perhaps a lure treated with MegaStrike encourages
more bass to "try it again!"
By "final commitment" I mean when everything involved in the
presentation is just right, but the fish is still hesitant to attack,
MegaStrike may be the final factor that triggers the strike.
For those interested in something "other than garlic", this is
your answer. I think MegaStrike smells like dead shad, but
not overwhelming.
Most importantly, MegaStrike is user friendly. This product has
the consistancy of Vasoline when the weather is cool. It softens
in warm weather, but is still very easy to use: no mess and no
waste.
I think this product is good for all soft plastics, and recommended
for both soft and hard swimbaits. The lubricating aspect is another
big plus. A single application is usually all you will need.
So, pick up a tube and give it a try. I think you will be pleasantly
surprised with the effectiveness of this product. Using MegaStrike
just might put a few more bass in your boat.

Good luck!

I like both products, and highly recomend them both!
I've used the mega strike. I like it. No complaints here.
I recently got a tube of Yamamoto Megastrike form Dick's.
Asked Bobby about it and he said this batch was made for over in Japan as it is more of a crawfish scent and they go ape for that over there. Anyway, gave it a try and it works as good or better than the original. Went back and got another 2 tubes. Check your local Dick's to see if they have the Yamamoto Megastrike. It's actually priced less.
P.S JJ's stinks! ;D ;D
Just remember -when that Yamamoto product is gone -its gone- we sent skids upon skids to the Yamamoto Plant and it out of stock now
What RW said! Seriously, we have a couple tubes on the boat and a few spares at home, because we never want to run out of it.
Thanks for the heads up Bobby!
Will run to Dick's after work.
What is the shelf life of Megastrike anyway?
awesome stuff and it lasts forever. i put it on just about every plastic i throw and I am still using the tube I bought 2 years ago. cheap at twice the price. (please dont get any ideas bobbie)
Wow, thanks for the shameless product plug. :-X
anywhere or way i get can the original forumal? i hate the smell of garlic.

You are not paying attention...
The new formula smells like dead shad,
not garlic.

X2 Dead or alive, shad smell the same to me.
Hey R.W.-
Seriously, how long will this stuff last. I want to go back to Dick's and buy out the Yamamoto stuff but Bobby hasn't answered. Must be out fishing.
Burley, I didn't kow you had stock in Megastrike. ;D ;D
Maybe Bobby will have the technical answer,
but I'm thinking, indefinitely! Even though I
use MegaStrike nearly every time I'm out,
a tube seems to last forever. I have never
noticed any changes in the mixture other than
viscosity due to varying temperatures.

I've been using MegaStrike for 2 years now and use it all the time with plastic baits. Gives me the confidence edge! Haven't tried the "new" formula yet, but it looks like I'll be taking a trip to Dick's!
Like I tell everyone who we take fishing. "Watch And Learn" Take a plastic bait ,Jig or whatever you are using-bend the hook so you cant hook the fish-add some Magic Goo on there- fish with the bait til you feel the strike-let me know how long he swims with that bait in his mouth- It holds on so long that even the most novice of anglers can detect the strikes and set the hook. Its great for the kids to go fishing with. If they aren't catching-its a nightmare. There has been a few times that I can reel them in and flip them in the boat because they swallowed it. There is an outdoor writer named JT Bagwell that wrote about the same experience that happened to him while using it . He is on Yamamotos Pro Staff. As for shelf life-You can give it to your grandchildren's grandchildren.
Thanks for the write up RW; heading to Dick's this afternoon to pick some up.
Question about the new formula; will it say that on the tube/bottle? The Dick's near my house hasn't been the greatest at keeping old stuff off the shelves. Thanks.

It comes in a clamshell pack so if it's not stapled shut, open one up and smell it. You'll live. It's not as bad as JJ's. Might have a slight garlic scent but should be more fishy. Don't forget about the Yamamoto
stuff which should be right next to it.
There could be a date code on the package or tube somewhere also.

Thanks Bobby!
Off to Dick's at lunch.
HMMM better rephrase that CWB
QuoteHMMM better rephrase that CWB
Honestly I'm surprised you are the only one who caught that so far.
Maybe you're just as bad as the rest of us... or worse!
CWB, let me know how many tubes of that you get.
Wouldnt mind trying one if you can part with it. Let me know

They only had three left and I snapped 'em all up.
How about a trade for that Mattlures Bluegill?
P.M. me with your address and I might be persuaded to part with one.
The only problem with megastrike is when the fish grabs it way before the hook...they don't let the bait go so I can hook em...seriously great product. Better when paired with some *** worms.

I think there was a tube in your gift bag. I'll send you another with
the bluegill. I'll try to get them out tomorrow.

Oh, I still have that one.
He is talking about the Yamamoto Megastrike
Gotcha.
Maybe you guys could give us a smear by smear update on Megastrike usage? I know this is very different from the JJ's thread so I'll be hanging on by a thread. :
(I am a megastrike user so no accusations, please.)
Keith, I am accusing you of being very bored.
We conducted a little test a few years ago to see how many baits you could "smear" or coat with one tube of Megastrike. It was literally more than 1000 applications. If you do the math-it was less than 1/2 a cent per application. I figure its the best insurance policy in the fishing industry .
Bobby,
I hope you know that I was only poking fun at roadwarrior, not megastrike.
Wayne- not bored, just procrastinating (lots of work to do, once I find my motivation!)

So, am to understand that if it isn't displayed in the clam-shell packaging, it's not the "new" formula? Is there a better way to tell? I'd like to try the new formula only, as I have a couple of tubes of the original already. Also, isn't Megastrike a Yamamoto product? Above it says, "Don't forgaet about the Yamamoto stuff which should be right next to it." Now I'm confused!

Hey Kent-
You can send me some. That will make up for me sending Wayne some of the Yamamoto stuff. If you can send me a Mattlures Bluegill also, I'll be your best friend for life!!!!

As far as I know they are all in a Clamshell package. According to Bobby, the product labeled Yamamoto was made for use in Japan. It is more of a Crawfish scent. At the dick's by me they were right next to eachother on the display rack.
This thread won't seem to die. Just saw a replay of the classic on ESPN and it showed Ike rigging up a tube bait and then picking up a white tube of what I could swear was Megastrike. The camera cut away almost instantly. There was no mention of him using it in Bassmaster coverage. I'm pretty sure it was Megastrike. These guys must want to keep it a secret.
It's my understanding that Ike was indeed using MegaStrike, however he is sponsored by another company so the reason why the tube was just white.
LOL Thats why its called pay to play masters
