I know, its color! But I see all the Youtube vid guys are using green type ones.
Safe to go with green pumpkin, watermelon seed, mardi gras?
For what its worth, I think color definitely matters. My yellow powereggs for trout outfish any of the other colors I have including pink and orange.
Your eggs confidence could be based on coincidence... many variables such as location of each bait and time spent using each kind...
That being said I bet I have 20+ different color senkos.... And don't have a single pack that didn't catch bass....
Always have leaned towards dark and very bright for dark water and more natural colors for clear.. not sure it matters much.
In YUM Dingers I use green pumpkin or watermelon red fleck (I think it's called). I only use them on shakey heads, though. I have another brand of Senko knock off in red shad (red and black) that I have caught a lot of fish on.
I really like the watermelon pearl belly. In dirty water the pearl stands out, in clear water it still looks natural like a small bass.
When in doubt, green pumpkin.
The only time I use a dinger that small, it's for bed fishing. I use something bright - orange, pink, or white - so I can see when the fish picks it up.
As far comparing trout to bass, in my time fishing for each, trout can be much more color selective than bass. If it's down to some specific color the bass are patterned on, then it's been a pretty tough day fishing for me.
I fish pretty much exclusively Yum Dingers, and my favorite color by far is watermelon red flake. Even if it's a slow day, I know I can throw one on weightless Texas rigged, and I at least won't be skunked for the day!
If you place great importance on color,
then your favorite color will work far better than mine

I have had great success with the pumpkin pepper/green flake.
Other than that I like:
Green Pumpkin
Morning Dawn
Watermelon seed
I have a pack of Carolina Pumpkin/Chartruese and Tinfoil I am going to try out this summer.

Ditto. Painfully slow, but catches fish nonetheless.
Best producing stick bait color down here in our area is Watermelon Red. Sticko Morning Dawn does well for me at certain times of the day.
Watermelon pearl laminate and Smoke pearl laminate are quickly becoming favorites of mine.
Watermelon red, green pumpkin for clear water conditions. Dirty water condition black and blue color.
Green pumpkin,watermelon seed,black,toasted almond,cashew,butternut squash....you get the point.
I believe YUM makes very good colors - 3 of my favorites in a YUM Dinger are : WM Red (clear water / clear day), Bream (stained water / overcast) and GP Purple (clear water - stained water / clear day) .
I'll tell you my secret to fishing Yum Dingers....Shhhhhh...don't tell anyone else..........I get them out..any color....look at them....put them back...pull out a Senko.......catch fish. EASY PEASY!!!

Tried a 4" watermelon red flake with o-ring and 1/0 circle hook 3 ft from a bobber. No hits. Got the skunk.
I keep colors of plastics for bass very simple: black/purple, green pumpkin, watermelon red, smoke/shad/white. Forage and water clarity determine which I throw.

I tried fishing wacky rigged senkos with a 1/0 finesse wide gap hook with a weed guard and I missed so many fish. I figured the hook was too small. I switched to a 3/0 with no weed guard and I have been on fire.

I had the same problem when using a 1/0 VMC wacky weedless hook and an O ring. I switched to a Eagle Claw Lazer Sharp 1/0 wacky hook and have had no problems since.
Weedless and wacky don't do it for me.
Junebug wacky rigged is my go too bud. Works in both clear and muddy water, I catch more fish then with and green pumpkin or watermelon colors
I am another guy who likes to K.I.S.S. when it comes to color.
4" Yum Dingers are a "go-to" bait for me in tough bite conditions.
My color choices (for other sized Dingers as well) are:
Green pumpkin: Day in day out the best all purpose color.
Black w/blue flake: cloudy darker days, with stained water
Green pumpkin w/chart tip: Sunny bright days with stained water. I like the ones that come with the chart. tip over dipping them in dye. Less mess and fuss. I will dip other plastics, but since the Dingers come with this option I use it.
Watermelon w/red flake: Ultra clear water
Pearl (white) w/silver flake: from about late August on for some reason white outfishes the other colors. Unless I am faced with gin clear water in late summer/early fall water (rare here), white has become a "go-to" late in the year.
I like the pumpkin pepper with the chart tail. Works great on a Ned head
I know a lot of guys like to keep their colors simple, and that makes complete sense to me.
On the other hand, I like to experiment and given the range of colors out there, there are a lot of options to play around with.
Over the past week I've caught them in similar situations (moderately stained, warm, late post-spawn) on:
Bream or Bama Magic (olive green and light blue swirl - my favorite by a long shot)
Junebug
Smoke Blue and Gold Flake (senko)
In short, I like blue tones and have a lot of success with those. I could rationalize it by saying bluegills are a primary forage, but the main reason is I personally prefer blues over greens. Nothing to do with the bass.
In the same situations I've caught fish on "baby bass" and purple, while I've watched others catch them on Red Shad and green pumpkin.
Have fun with it.
Doesn't matter what color you throw as long as it's green pumpkin or junebug.
Watermelon red flake , junbug dont seem to work on bass at all in the lake I fish hehehehehehehe.
I've got a boatload of Dingers in 4 and 5 inch. I don't believe I've bought a pack that won't catch fish. I do have my favorites though. My top 3 colors would be Mardi Gras, Black/Blue Laminate, and green pumpkin.
I use Yums 90% of the time Im fishing a soft plastic (mostly dingers or whatever they call their senko). I use green pumpkin religiously. I've tried others and get decent results but green pumpkin is my go-to in all sizes. If Im not using GP I'm using black or black/blue flake. I have been having some really good success with cinnamon lately though... never have liked it before this year.

The 4" Dinger is a good option either T-Rigged or wacky rigged with a 1/16th oz. wacky jig head for spoted bass ... A lot of times they do better than the larger 5" Dinger when the spots want a smaller profile that particular day .
What's a spotted bass? (kidding). Don't have them up here.
