By this I mean out of every softbait/lure etc that you have, what is your most used? Regardless of the time of year/fishing situation. Mine would have to be a 3inch GYCB or YUM senko.
Spinner baits.
Fat Ika
6" Senko
Micro Munch Tackle El Gordo tube
My goal for 2006 and moving now into 2007 is focusing much of my time on jigs. I hope to make this lure class my "go to" baits.
A jig, a 3/8oz. black/blue one to be exact. I always have one tied on no matter where or what I am fishing.

Vyron's Custom Made Spinnerbaits
I don't have a bait that I use most often. I'm pretty comfortable and enjoy fishing a bunch of different styles.
1/2 oz black/blue strike king pro model jig, although I am starting to find myself using a sweet beaver/berkley beast (watermelon red flake) in a lot of situations where I usually pitch a jig. Now I have to re-evaluate everything. Dang it!
#1 Texas Rigged Gene Larew 7 ½ Salty Ring Worm Cinnamon Pepper Neon/June Bug Laminated (Camouflage).
The rings give this bait a fatter/larger profile in the water, but the actual body where your hook goes is very small providing for a faster more solid hook penetration.
any of the 7 inch draggin series paddletail worms
I Carolina rig mroe than anything. About any plastic creature will do the job.
Jigs and plastics would be #2.
Brad
1/4 oz swim jig with either a single or double tail grub
I have 3 I use every time out
Original Floating or Jointed Rapala Silver/Black Back #7 to # 11
Manns Jelly worms Marmalde(motoroil) or Grape(Purple) weightless t rigged

I have four that I used most often, and four rods rigged with these baits at all times.
Senko 5" Red Shad
Ika Blue
Tube Black/blue
Spinnerbait Chart/white willow leaf
this time of year im usin a Pumpkin tube or small black/Red flake lizard
edit: plus any spider jig
LARGEMOUTH BASS
Plastic Worm
Any long, slender, cylindrical soft plastic, IMO, the only 'true' year-round lure
SMALLMOUTH BASS
Jig & Grub <> Tube Lure
A dead heat

My sammy 100 in american shad is always on. Also, 1/8oz tru-tungsten ikey head jighead, 1/4oz spot remover jighead, and spot stalker 1/8oz jighead with a watermelon/gold flake or seedless watermelon trick worm
QuoteI don't have a bait that I use most often. I'm pretty comfortable and enjoy fishing a bunch of different styles.
I'm similar to Cart7 but I probably have 5 or 6 baits which cover most situations that I'll fish more than others.
Tubes, Tubes, Tubes............. ;D ;D ;D
Whenever river fishing for smallies, which is about 75% of the time, I never leave home without a couple of these
white terminators and yum dingers in baby bass color.
whittler, what is that?
T rigged worms but I just bought some Rapala crankbaits.......we'll see ;D
SPEEDBEAD, that is a crankbait that I make, my signature is on the bottom.
John
I always have some type of ratltrap type bait on one of my rods.
a jig is also pretty much a gurantee.
If you see me fishing a senko you can count on one thing for certain.
I'm having a tough day.
Manns 1- NOTE: Most south jersey lakes are shallow
snagproof frogs
Depends on structure, depth, time of day etc. I use a varitey of baits never really relying on any one all the time have 4 to 6 rods rigged up at any one time.

Oh how I love fishing crankbaits.Whether I'm fishing for bass, walleye, or pike.Don't matter what kind, lipless, deepdiving, shallow diving, jointed, straight, suspending, or floating.A lot of the time I find myself fishing them a lot longer than I should be when they aren't produceing simply cause I like fishing them so much.I plan on changing that in the near future though.Gotta learn to fish those Senkos.I hear nothing but good things about them.
I have 2:
Spro Bronzeye frog in natural green or GYCB Fat Ika in watermelon
A 3/8 oz blue/black jig with a black Joe's chunk
QuoteThis little guy
That little guy looks familiar . It got me one of my 4 hook ups at the Rock.
As for me...I use a TON of crankbaits. It just seems like I can always catch SOMETHING on 'em. Normally some sorta baitfish colors...shad, bluegill, firetiger, or when fall and winter roll around and shade of red or crayfish looking colors. Jigs are starting to quickly become my second go to bait...ben pretty much all I have fished since about 9-30-06 with decent success.
I would say dark senko w/ weight.
Spinnerbaits, spooks, and frogs.
I'd say crankbaits and t-rigged worms.
If i'm not crankin deep, i'm shallow pullin em in on some sort of t-rigged worm.
Jason
My starting line-up most days (3 pre-rigged rods):
Spinnerbait. Generally 1/2 white with the main blade a Colorado, and a white trailer.
Rat-L-Trap, generally 1/2-3/4 oz chrome/blue.
Senko. Always with some greenish color to it.
I generally am fishing shallow water in and around weeds.
There is really not a single lure that I would say I fish most often - it really depends on the situation I have to face. I would use anything, finesse T-rig worms, cranks, spinnerbaits, topwaters, jigs, you name it.
BUT: If I was restricted to only three lures to use, based on my past experience they would be
1. Spinnerbait 1/2oz with colorado and willow gold blades and chartrause/white skirt.
2. Yamamoto 6" Senko Black/Blue Flake (weightless).
3. Rapala Flat-sided, square-lipped DT7 (I'm not sure if it's the correct name) with blue back and chartrause sides.
Hard to name just one,but I mostly use C-rig w/Various plastics, spinnerbaits, crankbaits, and flippin tubes.
1. strike king spinnerbait bleeding hook
2. black grape trick worm
A 1/4 ounce or 3/8 ounce black-blue jig.
Any 1/4 oz white spinnerbait, with a ball bearing swivel, and Gamakatsu, or Mustad hook, or 1/2 oz chrome Rat-L-Trap with Gamakatsu EWGs
I ALWAYS HAVE MY TERMINATOR T-1 DOUBLE WILLOW LEAF SPINNERBAIT, SHAD RAP, T-RIGGED WORM, AND AN X-RAP TO START MY TRIP.
Mine would be a toss-up between a white spinnerbait and a T-rigged Yum Dinger in Carolina Pumpkin/Chartreuse.
This is what I have rigged when I hit the water 90 % of the time.
Rod 1: sinking swimbait
Rod 2: topwater swimbait
Rod 3: jerkbait or trap
Rod 4: jig w/ trailer or stick/creature
Rod 5: dropshot or dart head.
a standard start would be, crankbait shallow and deep runner,t-rig worm or other plastic, spinnerbait, horny toad i usually have these rigged most of the time
Booyah Blade spinnerbait / texas rigged yum dinger / Rapala DTSS04/06
1. Baby brush hog
2. Horny Toad
3. Tiki Worm
im got a very junky style but you can almost bet that ill have a jig of some sort, depending on what im fishing and a hand poured senko or fat ika tied on(often interchangeable on the same rig). they rarely dont fit somewhere in the arsenal.
matt
If I was limited to one bait it would be a T-rigged worm year round.
I usually go out with six rods rigged. Most days they would be:
T-rigged worm
Spinner bait
Senko or Fat Ika
Crank bait
Buzz bait or other topwater
Finesse or trick worm on Spinning Rod
The top two don't change, I use them year round.
The bottom four change according to where I am Fishing, time of year, depth, type of structure etc.
I fish with a number of rods out on the deck usually about 6 rods. The rod locker hides the other 8 rods, what can I say the Bait Monkey owns me. However, I will say there is one rod that the lure doesnt change, Castaway Jig & Worm Rod 6ft 10in MH, Diawa TD-Z left hand retrieve , Pline 20lb Flurocarbon, 1/4 oz Black & Blue Hi-Tek Tackle GMW (Get Me Wet) Jig w/Uncle Josh #11 Black Pork Frog. Nuff said..
Super Spook Jr., various colors, many custom painted by a friend. Fish them throughout the day even at high noon.
I try to be able to switch to most anything, but for the past two years I've pretty much lived or died by shallow cranking. A Norman Mad "N" in Mad Bass color has been a killer for me.
Norman fatboy, T-rigged worm or baby brushhog, 1/4oz Shakey head.
I always either have a
GYCB 5in watermelon senk with a chrt. tip
or
a Brush hog in watermelon
YO-ZURI ratlnvibe - baby bass color(what color is still left on it that is)
Many lures rapala is one of the best. My favorite is crankbaits and jerkbaits.
Jigs,1/2 oz black and blue is my no. one choice for largemouth if I have to choose only one, then spinnerbaits and worms.
Smallmouth---Tubes, hair jigs,flukes,grubs,spinnerbaits,jerkbaits
