Spinnerbait Selection 2024

Ive recently been gaining confidence in these baits. I currently only have a few double willow blade strike king and booyaa models all of which are whit or white and chartreuse. Any advise on what to get would be apreciated. I believe in quality and cant seem to find out online what the best spinnerbaits are.

I use a willow and Colorado bladed booyah most of the time. They seem to last well and be made good.

I'm a big spinnerbait guy. I have a box of them to choose from, my go to spinnerbait is the 3/8oz Terminator T1. IMO it's the best spinnerbait made. I typically throw the double willow leaf model. I have a variety of colors so depending on the water clarity, cover and sun conditions on that day, I typically like to throw the emerald shiner, sunfish or the Hot olive. I also like to buy a blue, white and chartreuse color Terminator brand skirt and replace the hot olive skirt. The b,w,c combo has always been a fish catcher for me, especially with the gold and silver willow leaf blades.
If I'm in big fish waters, I'll step up to a half ounce model.

I've found its much more than the brand.. its thoroughly understanding the colors etc, blade configs, and how to work it.. understanding this you can catch just as many if not more on a walmart spinnerbait configured and fished properly.

Hey JT Harris, I went to the tackle warehouse and they don't have a wide range of color: Do you stay between white and green or are there many other colors out there that TW is not carrying or at least displaying?

80% of my spinnerbait fishing is done with 2 spinnerbaits:
3/8 oz Strike King single Tennessee nickel blade white & chartreuse skit ( this spinnerbait style is no longer available per se, mine are very old, but it still exists, it´s called "Midnight Special" )
1/2 oz Strike King Double Willow diamond pattern gold blade white skirt ( which actually is not 1/2 oz, that sucker weights a good full ounce )

If you keep gettimg bit short, or hit without with a hook up, consider adding a trailer hook.
I personally don't throw a spinnerbait without one.

Im partial to War Eagles, Stanleys and Boohyahs.
But I certainly become acquainted with all of the blade configurations and the conditions which they excel in. Its good to own a small variety of different configs for different purposes.

Spinnerbait fishing is #1 for me. Recently tried out some BPS Laser Eye spinnerbaits on sale. Bought the Single Blade 1/4oz. size in various skirt and blade colors. Performed well and caught more than a few LMB. Grade: A.

I only throw 'War Eagle' spinnerbaits:

Over the years I've learned to keep it simple. The colors in my original post are what I have with me 99% of the time.

Everyone needs at least a couple War Eagle Finesse spinnerbaits. They're just a killer little bait.
War Eagle is about the only spinnerbait I fish. Mouse, Hot Mouse, Spot Remover, Lavender Shad, Chart/white, white, coleslaw, and sexy shad and I'm set. I have lots of different sizes and blade configurations/colors, but those are my main colors.

Stanley spinner baits are proven to produce more flash & vibration than any spinner bait on the market period!

I've caught more bass on the BPS brand of el cheapo SB's than any other. Colors you need: White and chartreuse-you can get other accents in the head, but probably doesn't matter. You need a Colorado blade for cold water and willow blades for warm water. There's really no reason for a single willow blade, so tandems will do. You need from 1/4 oz-1/2 oz. So,, that's 3 sizes in two basic colors. Use gold blades where there are shiners, use silver where it's shad.
That will cover most of your daytime fishing. Now you can buy some specialty ones like black for nighttime/extremely low light. You can get one of those small ones like Pond Magic for small fish/small waters. If you fish a place with a different baitfish, you can try to match that hatch. Or you can buy them with painted or baitfish specific blades. I never have.
Lastly, some people will disagree, even some pros, but I don't care...You should use a quality trailer hook. I put a good one on every SB I get when I get it. You'll catch a lot more fish with it. There will be fish you catch that you wouldn't even know were striking short. Worried about hanging up? Why? Go get the SB out of the snag. You usually fish less than 5' deep with one.

One think I forgot. Mostly because I haven't done it but keep meaning to. People are replacing skirts with swimbaits nowadays. It's supposed to give them an edge when fishing pressured situations. Seems like a great idea. Don' throw that SB away when the skirt gets destroyed.

I kind of feel that way myself. I sort of stopped throwing spinners for a while and usually tossed chatterbaits. This year I found a local place to get all the materials for spinner really cheap. I started changing their things out on ones I already had or just making new ones to play with. Because it was something I made it makes me want to fish them. Being able to whip up any crazy blade combo and color ect on the fly is kinda cool. I can for sure say I can take a $.99 Walmart special and make it custom and out fish any name rand I might have only because of blade size, type, and color. I can't say it will catch more fish then a name brand that had the same everything but the blades, colors, even beads and the blade spacing seem to make a difference.

If you're getting into spinnerbaits and want some for every situation , those S K rocket shads are great for fast current and deep water .

zaplures makes a nice spinner bait. (Custom) they will make what you want. I throw white and only white I've tried other colors just can't seem to get bit on anything but white.

I too like War Eagle the best out of the spinnerbaits that I have tried. I have the most success with double willow in 1/2 oz. i like how they have great action even at low speeds. I have been experimenting with different trailers on my spinnerbaits this year. I never used a trailer in the past. Some days the bass really like a paddle tail on the back.

Pepper custom baits are the best. Terminators and Nichols round out the rest of my arsenal, though Terminators aren't what they once were. On double willow models, the front blade often has trouble spinning. Not so with pepper or nichols.
Other spinnerbaits that are very good from what I've heard are Revenge, Northstar, River2sea, and Stanley.

As far as colors, I like white, white chartreuse, golden shiner, chartreuse shad, a plain shad, and black. I like double willows in clear water or for fast retrieves, tandems for all around use, and single or double colorado for murky water. Silver is best for clear, gold for stained.

War Eagle or terminator T1s, if your fishing really clear water try a War Eagle in their mouse color. It's deadly!!!
