Well, I made a search on "shakey head", and couldn't find anything relating towards what baits work best on this rig. So I decided to post on it. I just started getting into this rig, and have had minimal success, and I plan to try to get more experienced with the shakey come spring. Now I know straight tail worms are typically the favored bait for this rig, but from what I've seen in various posts, there are many other baits that work well on the shakey style.
Can you name your top 3 most used baits on the shakey head? Thanks guys .
1: Berkley Shakey Worm
2: *** ***
3: Zoom Finesse worm
Definatley the Berkley Shakey Worm because of the scent and it stands perfect on a Spot Remover head. Can't wait to try the new Slim Shakey Worms they are coming out with...super-finesse 8-)
I almost always throw a straight tail worm on my shakey heads but I will occasionally use creature baits like beavers or Paca craws to resemble crawfish. I've seen people use minnow baits like flukes and what not to look like feeding baitfish also.
Roboworms 4 & 6" straight tails, works great for drop shotting too.
Paca Craw (hollow body, stands up indefinitely)
Brush Hogs
Trickworms
Net bait T-Mac (like a trickworm but less salt)
Yum dinger(need a large enough hook on the head)
Yum Bigshow Paddle tail 6 inches
Oops-more than 3
I would have to agree with ghost on the robo worm.
The one and only.............
Zoom Trick Worm (Watermelon)

6" straight tail worm
8" straight tail worm
3" craw
I love the Berkley Shakey Worm, it has been by far my best worm for this presentation. Oddly I love Roboworms for dropshoting, but have zero confidence with them on shakey head. I really don't fish much else on the shakey head any more since "discovering" the Berkley worm, it has worked for me everytime.
I use the Roboworm Zipper shakin worms all the time. 5 inch size

3: Zoom Finesse Trick worm
I mostly agree with Matt, just made one slight change. It's really hard to beat that Power Bait Shaky worm, once they get a sniff, there's no going back.
6" Roboworm Straight Tail. They're hand-poured which gives them a little quiver that bass can't resist.

1- Zoom Finesse worm
2- Grande Bass Rattlesnake
after that I've tried alot of different stuff with varying success
by far the yamamoto 5 3/4 inch kut tail in green pump/lg blk flk. its amazing what this rig can do with a 1/8 oz spot remover and just dropping it next to trees. they love it on the fall

I caught more shaky head bass in 08' on the Berkley Power Shaky Worm than any other plastic. I can't wait to see the slim Powerbait version too.
I picked up quite a few packs of the Berkley hand-pours this past fall, and I can't wait to give them a shot this spring as well.
Is there a time when bass prefer one action of a shakeyhead worm over another?
I ask this because some worms are stiffer and dont have near the action as a longer more shakey worm.

1) Webb's Baits black magic
2) Berkley Power Craw
3) Berkley Beast
Those are my top three. If one's not working, another one is.
4 to 6 inch strait tail roboworms are it for me. cant beat those
Grandebass baby rattlesnakes
Flappin hogs & roboworms
sometimes I'll put a baby brush hog on a shakey head too
Yamamoto Thin Senko
Not a true "shakey head" presentation, but a weightless trick/finesse worm fished like a shakey is killer.
1. Trick Worm
2. Finesse worm
3. Fish Stalker 6" finesse worms

try strike king's 3x finesse worm. its made out of this really cool material that stretches out to like 3 feet long and then compresses back into the original position. also zoom finesse worms
