I may have to go pig hunting.
Thats sad,Another chunk of bass fishing history gone.Gonna pick some up while i still can.
Someone's just going to have come up with a new product that has all the in water properties & action of pork but won't dry out.
I'd imagine this what may have lead to the product falling out of favor with so many anglers.
There's no doubt it works but when compared to present day plastic materials it's simply too inconvenient.
Still - It's accounted for many many big fish.

Not going to lie, I'm freaking out a little bit here. The ONLY meat products I've ever used are Uncle Josh's and the sinew I get from our deer. Really not looking for something to fill the shoes of Uncle Josh's.
We call this progress.
Yea. Right.
Sad news.
But thanks for letting us know.
Guess I'll have to buy all the jars I can and then sell them later at 3x the price as vintage pork trailers......lol

Or you could sell them for 1 cent and 19.99 shipping...
That actually stinks, pork rind trailer on a jig in cold water is a favorite of mine.

I've seen deals like that on there. $60 cheaper until you see the $59.99 shipping cost. But good marking gimmick. I guess for 19.99 shipping standard ground isn't gonna cut it for most....lol

The story is Cabela's sold flies in a catalog and charged 1 dollar for the fly and 1 cent shipping. Sales were low, so they sold flies for 1 cent with 1 dollar shipping and sales skyrocketed.
Pork baits are reusable . I guess most people let them dry out and then quit using them . I have about three lures that excels on large bass and the jig n pig heads the list .
I've never used the "pig". What makes these so much better than a rage craw or beaver?

Not enough apparently.
Pro - baits are indestructible (especially once they dry out)
Con - very limited shapes & designs (especially once they dry out)
Seriously though, in todays world of bass fishing where boats are Running & Gunning all over the lake with many rods all rigged and stacked on the front deck, this bait just doesn't fit any more.

It happens, times change and somethings become obsolete.

Pork trailers float and the thin legs move a lot at rest along with the fact that they have strong scent and flavor to help make the bass eat and hold on. Those reasons are a major part of why they're so popular during cold water, but guys who only fish them during the winter months are making a mistake IMO. Bigger fish seem to prefer the pork trailers in my experience. Very sad news.

I wouldn't say that pork is obsolete. Obviously nothing can provide the same type of action as pork, and no plastic is that indestructible. Apparently this is due to the lack of fat back on the market.

You ever fish Super Pork Blue? It's Tom's (WRB) favorite and he turned me onto these. They went out of business a few years back, but I still have a few jars stockpiled away. Mostly because I hardly ever fish pork. On the few occasions I did fish those, catching was good; even swimming that dead action trailer.
Its pretty sad really. One of the great bait makers, who helped make bass fishing get to where it is today! Ive used it for 27yrs and still do. A wet rag will keepem from dryin out? Properly storing jjs magic, takes more time then wrapping a piece of pork? Its just easier to use plastic for some.
I think over the years, sales were down so much because so many quit using it. It brought them to where they are today. If major tourneys were won USING it, the store shelves would be full again?
Supply& Demand: The supply would be there, if there was a demand.
The supply of pork would be had,if there was a demand, even if it was going to add to the cost?
Sorry for the rant everyone

Nope, never heard of them. Looks like a good bait though, too bad they went out of business. I found a site awhile back that had bulk tubs of Uncle Josh but now I can't find it anywhere. I guess I'll have to fish the ones I have and then just wish after that.
looks like i'm going back to bass pro to stock up tonight

I'm hoping there's some left by the time I get a chance to go. They're overpriced, but not like they will be once all the stores run out.
exactly and really i don't think there are many people up here that use them so i think i may be able to pick up a fair amount before they're all gone

Lure makers spend millions trying to get their bait to appear and taste like real meat to a bass. What could taste more like meat than, well.....meat. Those of you who don't use it..........thank you.

You're welcome - and I did mention above that the product does work but again it's inconvenience factor is only 1 or 2 notches down from Live Bait; and we all know that works pretty well too.
Finally, when I did use it - I was partial to Red.
