Has anyone tryed this Rage Tail? Or is it just another Frog type of bait? I was thinking of ordering some but, before I did I wanted your input.
Wal-Mart is carrying them. So you may not have to order them.
I bought several bags from Academy but I haven't tried them yet but by looking at how they are designed they look like that will be great.

i am not to keen on the frogs, horny's and cane toads still are supreme with me. with that said, i love the craws as a trailer for my jigs.
The Craws and chunks are bad to the bone! Now, I don't use anything else, but those on TX Rig or jig trailers. Might better rethink the Rage Toads. That bait has a variety of action and noise depending on speed of retrieve that will rival a buzz bait on quick retrieve, and jitterbug sound on super slow retrieve. So far, can't find any other frogs on super slow retrieve that make any noise, but these do. I think they should call em 'Big Foot'. By the way, the longer you use them, the better they get, but I had a hard time figuring this out, cause the fish would tear em up pretty bad.
Also don't make the mistake I did on the Rage Tail Toads and Shad. There is a small on the feet and tails that you have to pop loose before throwing them. That is to hold the feet into position to avoid distortion. I left them attached the first time I threw them and said to myself, Wow, they don't do much. After I realized I had to detach the tabs, I threw'em again and then I was hooked and so were alot of fish.
do you guys use a rattle in the craws if so what kind
Haven't used a rattle in th Rage Tail craws, haven't needed them. If I did, I would use the small glass rattles as the craw body's are on the smaller side but have big claw action . I understand that they are coming out with another group of great designs including a BIGGER craw. That's what I'm talkin about!
Who says the fish won't hit top on cold and windy, windy, windy days. Did I say windy? It was windy. My buddy and I fished yesterday from 12 noon to 6 pm and hit'em pretty good on the Rage Tails. The shad was best in the winded areas and the Rage Toad was best in the quieter pockets. We picked up several fish on craws as well. But the top bite was both surprising and welcomed. I think I'm gonna have some fun on these Rage Tails this year.
These baits move water and the thing I really like about them is that they seldom flip over on the retrieve like some other baits.
I still use Horny Toads and Cane Toads though, depending on the mood of the fish. I have yet to find a toad that falls through the water like a Horny Toad when I kill it next to cover. The Cane Toad is a little smaller than the others and seems to get bites on days when the fish ignore the other baits.

Looking into the "Rage Tail" designs. Does the frog float or do you need to keep it up by retrieval?
QuoteLooking into the "Rage Tail" designs. Does the frog float or do you need to keep it up by retrieval?
Nope. You gotta buzz it along or it sinks.
On that note,I'm not too sure I like the action of it under water.I'll stick with my sizmics for dropping into holes.
Hey Fin_atic, A group of us just got back from Falcon and the Rage Toad was the ticket on top. Used the Bright Green belly and Green Pumpkin back and slammed'em in 4ft and under. One of the locals there had about 30 packs of the Toads and gave me two packs and I wound up melting them back together with a lighter if they got tore up too bad. Wound up with about 35 fish to 8lbs on them before I ran out. When we dropped them in the holes, the fish whacked them too. I kinda like the softer plastic of the solid colors. Good Fishin!
That summer toad color you mentioned is a killer.Great color on the craws too.
I'm syked over the rage products but it really didnt seem like the toad had much action on the fall or twitchin under water.I'm sorta stuck on the sizmics for that.I rig em with a slight bend in the body and it walkes the dog under water.
Kool, I gotta try that too.
I watched one of the fishing shows yesterday (basically just a 30 minute infomercial for Strike King) and they were buzzing the RageTail Shad.
I was having trouoble understanding how to rig it. Looked on Strike Kings web site but they weren't much clearer. No pictures, I need pictures.

Supposably you rig them through the side, instead of under the belly, with the tail sticking up, like in the pic in this post http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1203382761/0. (Scroll down a bit, its near the bottom)
OK now I get it. I could see where that would make a lot of top water commotion. Thanks!
Here it is. This is the best I've found. These baits are awesome.
Yep,thats how to rig it,except I "skin hook" the point to get it through the junk without snagging.
Just to chime in...first post on the forum:
I saw these on TV infishermanTV show...basically a infomercial for strike king, anyway, I was sold, went to Gander Mtn and bought two bags of Rage Tail Chads, white and blueish. I was hoping to find a photo of the rigging, but common sense tells you to rig as seen above.
My third cast, bass on! I must have hit him the head because I didn't even get the lure on surface before he hit it. Later that day I had a great top water hit on a quick retrieve.
As for these baits, I like plastics and these are versatile as I can rig a 4/0 offset hook and switch from Chad to Senko without tying a knot ;D
I give them thumbs up!
Welcome to the site, EconBassMan. 8-)
I bought some Rage Tail Shads after watching that show, but the cold and the snow have kept me off the water. Hopefully, by this weekend things should be different.
Right on! senile1, thanks.
Here's hoping for some warm bass catchin weather for you. It was 82deg here yesterday(central Florida), windy as all get out, but was kayaking a small river so all was good.
Welcome aboard!

Thanks for sharing the pics - helped with me rigging them up.QuoteHere it is. This is the best I've found. These baits are awesome.
One question though what size and type of hook does everyone prefer to use with the Rage Tail Shads?
5/0 wide gap just like the pictures show works best for me.
Sounds good - thanks for the tip.Quote5/0 wide gap just like the pictures show works best for me.
