Quitter-Rig 2025

fishing user avatarTwoCan reply :

We all have one. When the bass just aren't talking and telling you what they want. I'm talking when you can't even catch a cold or a sunburn, what do you throw?

Mine has always been a whacky-rigged senko. I'm bound to catch something.

fishing user avatarHoosierHawgs reply :

What do I throw?

I throw my rod... In the water. Take hit to my pride, get butt hurt, and go home and cry for 3 days over the fact that an animal with a pea sized brain outsmarted me.

fishing user avatarDarren. reply :

Wacky. Almost all the time. Something takes the

bait. Could be a skunk, but most of the time it is

a fish!

A grenade....

Used to be a watermelon seed trick worm, but I haven't used one since last year. Don't really have a go to bait right now.

All Terrian Tackle football jig

fishing user avatarSonik reply :

6' light/fast spinning rod with a white panfish jig. Pull up on a brush pile and catch some redear, bluegill, and crappie.

fishing user avatarrippin-lips reply :

Bobber and a hunk of crawler!

fishing user avatarpapajoe222 reply :

I could lie and say I get out my spinning rod and drop shot a French fry worm, but I would have already tried that. It would take about five hours of hard fishing fire me to even consider a drop shot, so I'd likely tie up to a dock and take a nap on the deck.

fishing user avatarriverbasser13 reply :

4" stick worm, weightless and tejas rigged, if that won't work, then it's time to find some shade and catch up on some sleep.

fishing user avatarMaster Bait'r reply :

I throw... My hands up and just be thankful I can be out there. Soaking up the moment and surrounded by some of my favorite things in a beautiful place.

If I can't buy a bite I will usually tie on something new and just mess with it to get familiar with it's action and get dialed. Sometimes trying too hard can be a problem in and of itself IMO.

fishing user avatarthe reel ess reply :

Wacky, T Rig Craw, Rat L Trap.

I'm still gonna try a chicken rig sometime, but I haven't had a day where nothing would bite in a while. Something keeps saving my day.

post-53667-0-43370600-1437395412_thumb.p Notice the nail in the big end and that it's rigged backwards from the middle. It looks like you could get it close to overhanging branches and it would fall into the bank, not away. But it looks like a technique where you need to have a good idea there are fish there to tease with it. Not a search bait. Also looks good for bedding bass. But I'd prefer a bubble gum, lime or methiolate color Trick Worm for the visibility.

This looks like a Zoom Ultra Vibe work with tail cut. I know they sell them that way or you can cut the tail straight on a curly tail one.

fishing user avatarA-Jay reply :

"Quitter - Rig"  ?   Hate the term - implies the wrong frame of mind to me.

If I'm on the water, I'm fishing.  When I'm not locating bass that will bite, I'm still fishing.

If it goes on too long, I'm eventually throwing a jig & craw.

So if I happen to bump into one, it will probably be a good one.

A-Jay

fishing user avatarjschult184 reply :

I throw everything I have in my tackle box for no more than 30-45 minutes each.  I also move along the shore (yes, I am boat-challenged).  If I still haven't caught anything, I take my ball and go home.  The bass are not going anywhere... I'll be back.

fishing user avatarcgolf reply :

Can't really say I have one. I do have a progression I work through depending on the conditions. If I had to say I had one it would be a 5" kalins grub or a tube. The problem is I start many trips with that and end on something different if they didn't work.

fishing user avatarbigbill reply :

When this happens it gets my juices flowing.

First I haven't used live bait in decades.

I will cast out my usual variations of my ritual baits. If nothing happens I'm stoked to figure out what pattern will work. I will try every bait, every size, every color, every presentation till I get action. The pattern can be as simple as a firetiger, a electric blue worm, a amber gold flake senkos. Take your time the fish will tell you what they want. I love a challenge.

I even relax and practice presentations honing my skills even to the next level. I even try new presentations. Take advantage of the slow time to expand your know ledge.

fishing user avatarI.rar reply :

Well, I usually have a very limited time to fish when I go out. That being said, I have a hand full of baits I have a ton of confidence in and I always have those with me ready to go.

Those baits depend on the power rod I'm fishing which is usually light/ultralight tackle (now bfs).

fishing user avatarSirSnookalot reply :

If the bite were really bad I might put a senko on, something I've done maybe 2-3 times in the last 12 months.  Quite often I start off with a roostertail, not a bad fish catcher at all won't go skunk too often.  On some of the toughest days I 'll go to a top water, may not catch much but sometimes I surprise my self with a really nice fish.

Wrong, the pea sized brain animal didn´t outsmart you, you simply didn´t find what it wanted ....pretty much like women.

Welp... There's all my insecurities summed up in one post ;)
fishing user avatarblckshirt98 reply :

I throw a dropshot with a Molix Sator Worm.  If there's bass/small bass/crappie/bluegill and they're biting, they'll at least nibble at the tail.  If nothing then it's a dead day to me, and I'll go throw my money at the tackle shop.

fishing user avatarsmr913 reply :

Green Pumpkin Ultravibe Speed Craw with a 3/16 oz standup skakey head. It can be 100 degrees and blue bird skies, but I'm going to get a smallie on that.

My father in law taught me if you can't catch them, at least you can tick on them. You get the idea.

fishing user avatarHogsticker reply :

Love that auto correct function. Tinkle, not tick.
