Mine- The Pork-O
years after this was considered dead and gone a buddy and i went to lake fork in march to fish with a guide for 2 days. the weather was bad to say the least. we had to stop and break ice off of our rod guides several times to kinda give you an idea of the type of conditions we were fishing. nothing was working that our guide has us fishing with so i tried my "ol pork-o". in a matter of 30 minutes i had boated 3 fish weighing 4-6lbs . the buddy of mine that had made fun of me when i tied it on was now begging for one! another guide that was a friend of our guide came over to see (in his words) "what the hell we were fishin with". neither guide had even heard of pork-o's .
i gave the other guide and his customers a can of them to try and we continued to kill the fish on them for 2 days. we met up with the other guys at the cafe that evening and they had done well too. our biggest fish was 8lbs but several in the 5-6lb range. a trip i will never forget!

I still throw the Mister Twister 6" Phenom worm. This was the first plastic worm that I learned to throw around 25 years ago. It is my confidence lure. When all else fails this what I use in L.A. (Lower Alabama). My (or should I say the fishes favorite color) is Black with Fire Tail and Motor Oil.

I have a few packs of old culprit worms, from the 80s I think, that I still use on occasion and the great thing is they work and they are more durable than most soft plastics that I use today. The only bad thing is that they won't last forever. :'(

yes it was strike king. the bait is about 5 inches long. 1 inch wide at the top and tapers down to about 1/4 inch. it kinda resembles a huge slug. the action is still unreal and i think what makes it different from similar baits (flukes,senkos,slug-o's etc) is its fall rate. it takes a lot of patience to fish correctly.

HA! I just looked on my peg board in my basement shop and lo and behold there is a unopened pack of Strike King Pork-O Lightnin' Strike Hooks. I knew they were familiar. I have a bunch of jars of Strike King Bo Hawg Frogs, they were my favorite "pig" for my jigs back then, especially the Olive green.

Still my favorite low light topwater lure for bid smallmouth is the South Bend Bass Oreno. I haven't tried the new reincarnated version of the Bass Oreno made by Luhr Jensen, so I can't comment on them.
Did a night trip with a friend of mine last year. He was killin' them with an Arbogast Jitterstick. They're discontinued now, and usually go for $15-$25 a pop on ebay. Lucked out and got a few for $4.99 each (the guy spelled them wrong on ebay).
Another favorite of mine is the 4 Slider Worm (rigged on their different slider jigs) for when fishing is tough. Still made and works great, just don't hear much about them any more. Over winter they unload leftovers for $1.00 a bag. That's when I stock up.

If you buy culprit worms today they are exactly like they were in the 80's. Only difference is, today you can get more colors and they will be salted, which just makes them better. They are my #1 bait since the 80s.

Here's a few i still throw: Cordell's original spot, Crankbait Corp.'s (don't remember the names),Whopper Stopper's Hellbender & Hellraiser, Bomber Waterdog, Pinfish, and original Bomber,Lindy shadlings,Mann's Razorbacks,Storm's Thinfin, and a couple of 70's Shakespeare's wooden topwaters. The first 2 stay in my box, the others i'll break out a couple of times a year.(mostly retired)

Model A bombers still catch a lot of fish for me. Uncle josh porks, rooster tails for whites and hybrids, and rebel pop-r.
Forgot to add the rogue. Been catching fish on it since I was a kid
