H2O Lures? 2025

fishing user avatarrboat reply :

Just got an Academy store in the neighborhood. I like the looks and the price of their H2O line of baits. Can anyone tell me which ones work the best? Thanks.

fishing user avatarjunyer357 reply :

Ive had pretty good luck overall with them. I like the prices much better than so many these days. I use mostly squarebills. I wont venture to say what works best. Thats like buying paint for the house without asking the wife first, just an arguement starter.

fishing user avatarABW reply :

I dig the CRS squarebills

fishing user avatarHardcoreBassin reply :

I bought a TON of the H2O cranks late last summer ( squarebills, deep and shallow divers as well as lipless).  I love them!  I like the colors, they are sturdy, the hooks are strong and sharp.  No complaints thus far.

 Good luck with them!

i like their sales on the h20 stuff. picked up 3 swimjigs for 98 cents apiece. one was 68cents. and grabbed 3 frogs for 98 cents each as well. the h20 stuff does seem to be noce quality

fishing user avatarrobster80 reply :

fishing user avatargardnerjigman reply :

Good baits, great price. Like the squarebill sand frogs

fishing user avatarCrank Bait Nut reply :

fishing user avatar1201vilbig reply :

I really like the flat sided squarebills. They fly off the rack in my area.

fishing user avatarscyounggun reply :

I use almost nothing but H2O lures and love them

fishing user avatarprimetime reply :

all the ones I have tried have exceeded expectations and I use their Pistol Minnow and double prop topwaters in that red ear sunfish color they have and bluegill pattern, barfish, bone and a few others, lipless cranks, little wake, all really good. The are not Lucky Craft like some say online or the same OEM but they are a heck of a deal for $2-$5 online and in stores I know they have deals from what I am told. We are getting a few in Orlando soon and I can't wait.

  1. I grabbed a 25 pack of their worm hooks online and they are every bit as good as the Gamakatsu,VMC, Owner Hooks I use. I can't tell them apart from which is what they are sharp and strong.

The Pistol topwater is good, I like the saltwater version better, hooks and rear dressing and a dollar less and colors are good. The small lipless are awesome for small baits in grass.

It seems all the house brand lures are good, Cabela's has some good one's now, bass pro has a few as well, but Academy has best color selection and sizes . Great deals. stock up.

fishing user avatarkikstand454 reply :

I have not had a single issue with anything branded h2o. Lures, reels, hooks, etc. ....all have been great.

I'm probably going to pick up my next crankbait rod from them and I'm sure ill be happy with that too.

I go to acedemy 5:1 over bps.

fishing user avatarCatch and Grease reply :

I like most of the H2O lures, I really love their squarebills!

fishing user avatarrobster80 reply :

plus. they usually have ridiculous sales on em from time to time

fishing user avatarbc4393 reply :

Squarebills are money.  CRS Chartruese Shad is killer in my pond.  Crappy, Largemouth, even cats.  I use the 2nd from smallest size.   I also use the poppers after reading good things about them compared to yellow magic.  Not as good, but d**n good for a fraction of the price.  Caught a few on bone and ghost shad. Got a couple on the flat sides square bills late last year but didn't have a chance to really test em out yet.

Edit: And someone else mentioned the hooks.  Forgot those!  Its all I use for Texas rigging.

fishing user avataryakingfisherman reply :

I heard good things about their cranks. They look good. Have to order some online soon and see how they produce myself.

fishing user avatarBluebasser86 reply :

I haven't been disappointed by any of their products I've tried yet.

fishing user avatarncbassfisher1496 reply :

I have some of their crankbaits and really like them. I haven't tried their jerkbaits though and am wondering if anyone has had any experience with them?

fishing user avatarscyounggun reply :

I got 2 of their jerkbaits to try last year and I like them.  They perform well for me.

fishing user avatarMemphisFF reply :

Just bought some cranks and jerk baits interested how these hold up they look good and really reasonable..

fishing user avatarrobster80 reply :

i just left academy. going back tomorow tho gonna try a couple of the h20 prop baits and one of the swimbaits

fishing user avatarGoose52 reply :

My LMB PB was caught on an H20 "Rattlin' T" lipless crank (an Xcaliber XR50 clone).  All the other H2O baits that I have used have been great as well.

They seem to work, catch fish...

Nice Fish Goose!

fishing user avatarBluebasser86 reply :

Their Megabass 110 KO is a very good bait that I've caught lots of fish with. Both of our local Academys have a hard time keeping the good colors in stock in fact.

fishing user avatarMcKinneyLonghorn reply :

I've never used or owned a swimbait but last night I purchased two of the 3.5-inch H20 swimbaits, one shad and one sunfish. I got out this morning  but was in a pond where there is way too much grass to use any treble hooked baits so all I was able to do was tie them on and pull them around near the bank. The swimming action seems pretty nice and natural, although admittedly I have nothing to compare it to. Looking forward to trying them out this year. For less than $6 each I figure I have nothing to lose.

I'm a big fan of the H20 hooks and the Mettle reels as well.

fishing user avatarrobster80 reply :

^ i sawthose. woulda grabbed one but i wanted bluegill color and they were out. ill probably grab one regardless next time i go. i did get one of the smaller ones in shadtreuse color. along with a lipless crank and a prop bait. may go out to the pond this afternoon and try them out

fishing user avatarBluebasser86 reply :

Has anyone tried their new segmented squarebills? The concept piqued my interest so I grabbed one the other day.

If you are talking about the jointed ones I have some. They have a really nice action to them. I haven't caught anything on them yet because right after I got them, I tore a tendon in my elbow & fractured the ball joint. No fishing for me for a couple more months :cry4:
