Favorite Fall Fishing Lures/ Techniques 2025

Its that time of year with summer in the rear view the air is getting cooler by the day and so is the water. As bass begin to move into deeper water to prepare for the winter the fall is one of my favorite times to fish. I have been having great luck on Senkos, lipless cranks, square bills, and my favorite weighted creature baits (Berkley Havoc pit boss, strike king rodents) so i ask you, what has worked for you in the past and what is working for you right now?

Hard jerkbaits (large sizes) for sure. I'll also use soft occasionally as well.

Around here they are not heading back out to deeper water yet, they are coming shallow feeding on bait fish back in the coves.
Small top water baits like the spook jr, weightless flukes, finess jigs, small swim jigs, small poppers, shakey heads, small crank baits banging into brush piles or off of rocks, small spinners everything works under the right conditions for each.
If I had to choose my favorite this time of year, the smaller swim jig would be my go to bait, it's killer around shallow cover.

Yeah, I agree with the fish coming up into the shallows to feed before winter is what they do around here too. Last year it was all about the small squarebill right up along the bank. I was catching most of my fish within 5' of the bank using small Bomber SquareA's. Unfortunately I haven't been out much this year lately to see what's happening although I tore them up the other night for about a half hour before dark with a jitterbug.

Right now, Drop shot, spinner baits, and cranks are starting to pick up, topwater is working also. Once it gets colder, hard jerkbaits. And I wouldn't call it a favorite, but the A-rig bite should start going pretty soon.

LFT Live magic shad in the smallest size on a Kalin's Scrounger head has been my biggest producer so far.

Anything top water right now. Tiny torpedos, flukes, poppers. Gonna pick up some Rage Shad this weekend and see how those do. A buddy got a pack last week and was killing them.

here on table rock, there will be a shallow pattern developing and a deeper pattern too. i prefer going after the deeper pattern, and a spoon will be the best tool for this deeper pattern. a spoon can catch them from top to bottom, and i do not know of any other lure that can put them in the boat as fast as a spoon can.

nothing beats the original rebel pop r in my opinion, my most successful colors have been bass, foxy momma and silver and black.

just picked up a white/ charturse chatter bait with a gold blade trailed it with a crem/ sliver flaked zoom tube.. worked really well today caught a bunch a bass and a nice 6 pounder out deep.. dragging then ripped, to a pause ..

i love fishing my zman original chatterbait white and chartreuse with gold blade with a strike king rage tail grub in pearl. Always had great luck with it, its my secret weapon.

In the past rat-l-traps, jigs, and plastic worms have worked. Lately I haven't been able to get out very much.

double fluke rig has been awesome so far. This is the first year I have used it and it has been the best thing in my arsenal lately. Also have luck with chatterbaits, pegged texas rigged plastics with a light weight (1/8-1/4) used more like a swim jig, spooks, square bill and lipless cranks, spinnerbaits....in that order.

Right now I am really doing well with a Zara Spook in baby bass.... I caught these on that lure in back to back outings.

KVD 1.5 & 2.5 are red hot for me right now. craw colored jigs and Lipless cranks are my other 2 favorties for fall.

Tim4vols what color rage chunk do you use with the white chatter. And parkman what color kvd 1.5

Successful colors may vary from one body of water to the next. I use gizzard Shad because that's what the fish are feeding on heavily right now. I also use chartreuse black back if the water is a little more dingy than usual. Craw is always successful in fall for me as well. Mainly gizzard Shad though.

I usually fish for deep schooling fish or shallow water. I like to work Rattle Traps through deep fish I spot on the depth finder or hit the banks with shallow diving cranks.

Rapala DT4 in parrot has been good in stained water, and a baby bass or gold chug bug.

The lake I fish the temp is 60 Degrees. The sluggo in Arkansas shiner color has worked well this past week.
