How Do You Guys Peg/pin Your T-Rig's Weights? 2025

fishing user avatartcbass reply :

I saw Bill Dance using a small length of thick fishing line to peg a weight on a T-Rig once. But I couldn't see how he really did it because the camera didn't zoom in enough.

How do you peg/pin your T-Rig weights?

And if you use a commercial brand what brand do you use?

I like rubber t stops.. theyre super cheap they don't hurt the line at all and best thing is I can still move the weight anywhere on the line and have it pegged. theres been times I texas rig and move that weight up the line a few inches and start getting bites, that rubber t stop allows me to peg the weight wherever I want, whether that's right on the bait or up the line. I like that cuz I can be very efficient and versatile to figure out what the fish want. bobber stops cant do that.

Where im from in pa a lot of lakes have sparse clumps of grass, I can take my flipping rod and put that pegged weight right on the bait and flip right in the middle of the grass and then when I get off the clump and on my way up to the next one I can slide that weight up the line, cast and work it like a Carolina rig. great way to figure out a plastic bite.

Punch Stops

Even when not in use, they're not an encumbrance on the line.

99% of the time I don't but for that 1% I use a toothpick!

fishing user avatarrippin-lips reply :

Bobber stops for smaller weights and T stops for bigger stuff.

fishing user avatarjonnyblazex reply :

Bobber stop. I like the bright green ones. Sometimes I think it may give me a slight advantage and catch the fish's eye. If the hole in the bullet weight is too big, you'll also have to use the matching green bead, or you could use a glass bead for clacking sound. The other nice thing about bobber stops is that they can slide up the line if they get a lot of stress. I can't tell you how many hogs I have dragged through big rocks, and the stop slipped, line was heavily damaged, but caught the fish. Best pegging or holding method on the market, and cheap too. Tighten it down good, then trim the ends nearly flush.

A piece of rubber band.

Skirt strands work great,  I had a skirt fall off a Spinnerbait and kept it for pegging weights and just stuck a swimbait on the spinnerbait for now.

fishing user avatarFish Murderer 71 reply :

None. wont peg a T-rig.  If I get to needing a leader I switch to a speed rig- just like a C-rig without the bead or clacking ring and a rubber stopper in the bullet weight at the barrel splice.

Tooth pick.

Dollar store has boxes of 500 for a dollar. That's 1000 pegs for a dollar. They're cheap, they work, and they're biodegradable!

fishing user avatarJar11591 reply :

I just use Eagle Claw bobber stops. You get like 20 for a buck.

fishing user avatarArv reply :

don't really peg, but if I do I use bobber stops

fishing user avatarww2farmer reply :

I also use the 6th sense stops. At $1.99 they make for a great item at TW when you only have $49 worth of stuff and need to get over $50 for the free shipping lol.

fishing user avatarA-Jay reply :

I used to tie my own bobber stops with old braid.

Then I starting using the 6th Sense stops and they work very well.

Then another BR member (and I apologized for not remembering who or in what thread, the CRS kicked in again)  mentioned that he had found a good deal on ebay.  So I looked and found these.  They come in sizes.  I've used the medium and large and they are very good too but come at a most reasonable price.

That's what I prefer to use as well. The only thing I can add is that it's a good idea to keep a piece of wire handy so you can push the peg of toothpick through the weight when you are done using it. I just use a piece of an old light wire worm hook I cut off at the hook bend.

When not in use, I'll leave it on the line and it gets in nobody's way.

Bobber stops. Brand doesn't matter. They all work. Or I'll use a rubber peg it. Sometimes both.
