Z-MAN Shroomz Micro Finesse Jig 2025

fishing user avatarHurricane reply :

Anyone use this? Thinking of picking up a couple..

fishing user avatarNHBull reply :

I use them for the Ned rig and it can be used for shakey heads and weighting a wacky rig

fishing user avatarBluebasser86 reply :

I haven't used the Z-man, but recently started making my own that are very similar and have had good luck with the 1/8oz size with either a 2.75" YUM Craw Papi, or a half a YUM Dinger on the back.

fishing user avatarTeam9nine reply :

Personally, not a fan. Won't buy one. I think they're just trying to capitalize on the popularity for $$. Plenty of really good "true" finesse jigs already on the market (of which I own many). That said, it's a jig - it will work. They all do.

fishing user avatarfishwizzard reply :

I use them and like them.  They are a good size for small streams and catch pretty well with a zman leech or their tiny chunk trailers. They are light enough that my ML Ned rig rod can handle them, while most finesse Jigs are too heavy for it.

They are also also pretty cheap, so I am willing to throw them into logjams and other gnarly snags.

fishing user avatarDarren. reply :

Haven't used them before, in fact, I don't think I've

seen them until now. I had to make sure they weren't

the ned rig jigs, or a new one. Similar, but actually a

skirted jig.

Might try one out in the future.

fishing user avatarYeajray231 reply :

They're small. It's a "ned" mushroom head with a skirt on it...

My "finesse" jig and chunk choice this time of year is the SK bitsy bug and rage chunk..

fishing user avatarHurricane reply :

well, i ordered a pack of black/blue and a pack of green pumpkin, the deal trd to add to my trds, and 2 packs of shroomz 1/15 jig heads.... ahh the bait monkey wins again...

fishing user avatarNorcalBassin reply :

They look pretty good for a finesse jig and at $2.50/ea I'll definitely be giving them a try.

fishing user avatarchadmack282 reply :

What size hook do they have?

fishing user avatar1201vilbig reply :

I tried them out & got bit almost immediately. But I could not keep them hooked. I played with the weed guard, sharpened the hook, & still could not land a fish. I don't have any issues with the regular mushroom head.

fishing user avatarPaBassMan13 reply :

I just ordered 3 packs of these in different patterns and also Netbait Baby Paca Chunks for a trailers. I am thinking these should work very well in the pressured waters that I fish. I held off a while in buying these to read more reviews and I finally saw enough. It seems many folks like the jigs but complain about the weed guards being to stiff. I did read a professional review where they stated that you have to put more of a "V" in them and also bend them down closer to the hook point. They state that they are not set up properly out of the package. So I will make those adjustments and see how it goes; if I start losing fish then I will cut them off like most already have. But the Ned Rig has performed very well on my local lakes; I love throwing small jigs as well; so I think these should be a winner for me. I'll put up an official review of them once they arrive and I have had a chance to use them a few times.

@PaBassMan13, I used the SK Bitsy Bug Finesse jigs this winter with Netbait Paca Chunk Tiny as trailers and did very well in highly pressured ponds. My favorite combo was a black and blue jig w/ this Toledo Special (see pic). Great scent too! Looking forward to your reports, but I've quickly added finesse jigs to my winter line-up needless to say.

fishing user avatarKtho reply :

I fish a TRD on it and it works quite well, I prefer different head shapes for other types of plastics.

fishing user avatarfishwizzard reply :

If you guys like these little jigs, you owe it to yourself to try the zman leech on it.  The tail quivers in even the slightest current and the package works great for shallow, slow dragging.

fishing user avatarLooking for the big one reply :

Just a PSA for some of you guys, this thing is truly tiny. It's the same size as a ned rig jighead, so don't expect to put normal sized craw trailers on it.

fishing user avatarBluebasser86 reply :

I can't remember who pointed me towards them, but I've been using the ISG Bambino Finesse Chunks for a trailer on my 1/8oz jigs and have been really happy with them.

The smallest size YUM Craw Papi works too, but the tiny pinchers rip off easily. They're pretty inexpensive and the action is good, so I still use them a lot as well.

The Finesse Chunk is really a tiny little trailer, but the jigs I'm fishing them on are tiny too.

Those bambino finesse chunks are great on small bucktail jigs in colder water to, haven't tried them on regular ultra finesse jigs yet.

Been working well for me.

fishing user avatarMaster Bait'r reply :

I'm a big fan of the mono spin jigs, eco gnats and the like but usually opt for the tiniest trailer I can over a chunk type.  Crusteaz, the tip of a roboworm tail, half of a 3" slug-go etc etc...  I have been pretty obsessive about the micro presentations in the past few years and I have come to feel like chunk trailers throw off the balance of it even if they improve castability.  Just a personal thing, but cool to see people getting into the ultra finesse game nonetheless!

That Snootie jig is wicked effective!!!!!!   I use the larger sizes to make compact flipping jigs, it gets in and out of cover better than any jig I've used. I keep wanting to get the smaller version to add another finesse type jig but I haven't gotten around to it. BTW, love the look of your jig with that chunk, where did you find them at, I'd greatly appreciate any info!!

fishing user avatarfishwizzard reply :

Sadly I think the eco gnats are out of production. I have like 4-5 left but I guess I should just fish them until I loose them.

Thanks, I buy mine right here,

http://www.ebait.com/ISG/product/BamChunk.html

I bought some special weedguard pins from @cadman to allow  me to use either 1 or 2 weed guard fibers and it's worked great. The jigs are so light that a single weedguard strand from a stiffer weedguard bundle keeps it out of most snags. I've got some I poured with no weedguard too. Just the way the hook rides pointed up keeps them out of most snags as is.

Yep, I use the same pins to use FG-9 and FG-12 weed guards on hair jigs and my micro finesse jigs. I prefer the fiber although I do like using wire for rocks.

That's why I ordered the mini Paca Chunk; it's only 2.5" and should be a good matchup.....hopefully, haha!

Thanks jerk, You made me go and check out the site, and I ended up ordering 6 Bambino Jigs and a few bags of the finesse chunks... You must work for the Monkey.:laughing7:  On another note, the prices are decent.
