What is the strangest color of hard or soft bait that you have used that catches fish? Include the color and the type of bait!
I really can't think of a color I'd call strange, which is just a point of view.
Mother Nature exhibits every color in the rainbow and then some. In fact, that's the reason
why I hold color in low esteem. On the other hand, I've seen some pretty strange names for colors,
for instance 'Brown' is now called 'Pumpkin'

I'm a big fan of pink, especially for smallmouth. I make a bladed jig in a color I call Funky Chicken that they really hammer at times.
Skitterpop ,clown
I have to go with pink too. Woo Davis showed me years ago a pink jig that he said he fished,I thought it was a joke,he was not joking! I never did the pink jig thing but pink worms, you bet!
I agree with the hot pink colors are un natural as it gets. The first time one of my buddies brought out hot pink trick worm it looked like joke and the joke was on me as he out fished me. The second time wasn't as bad, we were fishing DVL and he started using another hot pink worm with chartreuse tail tip Roboworm called delta dawn. DVL is gin clear water you can clearly see the bottom at 25+ feet and this pink worm flies in the face using natural colors, but works good at DVL for both rainbow trout and bass.
The ugliest worm that works good for me is a pea soup green with light purple blood line. Keep a open mind regards to colors bass may like, not always what you think.

If I had a pet flamingo and a coral snake,
I'd have to cover their eyes so they don't see that word "unnatural"
Joking aside, newborn rodents and many worms are "bubblegum",
as well as featherless hatchlings that fall from the nest.
I have seen the green pumpkin work in almost every situation...
It I had to pick 1, the GP gets the call
Remember the polka dot era lures? A few polka dot colors are still popular.

Strembridge Flip Tails the green was teal green or a blue hue green, may still have a few somewhere. Today you can find a similar color in baby bass GYCB cut tail worms.

I always joke with my wife when my 5 year old daughter always wants to buy whatever is purple or pink when we are wandering down the fishing aisles but when we buy them my wife uses most of them and she usually catches something with them. Strangest was a Berkley Backslide in cotton candy color which is a purpley pink color with silver sparkles in it. Caught fish when everything else wasn't.
Zoom Trick Worm in Merthiolate. Killer bait weightless Spring thru Summer. TW is out of stock for a reason...
I was given one of these things and tried it out in WV fishing a lake with a lot of brush, trees, etc. I threw this thing where an old car was in the lake and a lot of bush type things around it and gave it a couple jerks and got a couple nice bass off of it. probably caught more bass on this thing than a normal worm.
Electric chicken is a popular color in salt water, and bass and pickerel hit it with abandon. There are several versions, but most have pink, chart. and lime green.

Green pork chunk with white polka dots on a Gold Johnson spoon!
Won a tournament with a pink-n-chartreuse skirted spinnerbait!
Catalpa Worm
i don't guess it's all that unnatural really, but morning dawn/chartreuse tail worms are killer in the warmer months for me. that doesn't really mimic a single thing in the lakes that i'm aware of, but man it works!

This exactly!!
One time I caught a bass in the delta on a bright pink crankbait. No eyes, no texture, nothing... just pink...
Baby-diaper Yellow & Boar-snot Gray
We was on a float trip one time on a river in Missouri and my little sister had picked out some pink worms to fish with and then the next thing you know she was lighting up the smallies! Everybody was wanting some of them pink works then.
Cotton candy lizard with a chartreuse tail, I don't get it but the bass sure hammer them
A few years back I caught a largemouth on a Heddon Big Bud that I had in my tackle bag. I was joking around and said I wonder if the bass would like a beer. I guess one did.
Cotton Candy has been very good to me, in most plastics I have tried it on a as well as on a Vibrashock Blade Jig.
