Go-to Lure to Entice Even the Most Finicky Bass 2025

fishing user avatarBig Fish Small Pond reply :

Everybody has a go-to lure when they want to procure a bite on the slowest of fishing days. I am curious as to what lure it is that people here on BR reach for when the going gets tough.

fishing user avatarYakalong reply :

The hotter the weather, the bigger the worm and the slower I fish it :occasion14:

fishing user avatarRoLo reply :

I'd give the nod to plastic worms.

fishing user avatarNoahWatts reply :

3/8 oz black neon pitching jig

fishing user avatarBadContrakt reply :

Hands down wacky rig.

fishing user avatarcgolf reply :

Two that are not on the list, a tube and 5" kalins grub I can drag super slow.

fishing user avatarSlefler reply :

Shakey head

fishing user avatarthebillsman reply :

More often than not I'll stick to plastics. Pennsylvania fishing is always finicky fishing no matter the time of year. I have been doing a lot of pond hopping waiting for my new boat reg to arrive. I've had the best luck slow hopping a mini skirtless chatterbait with a craw trailer and shakey head fishing finesse worms.

I have had no luck with the usual winter suspects.. lipless cranks, jerkbaits, etc.

Tomorrow I'm fishing a private two acre pond at a local university. I'm going to start with a 1/4oz Owner Shakey Head with a Creme Scoundrel in natural. My second setup will be an RC STX 110 in gold and black.

fishing user avatarBurntorangefan reply :

Senko or spy bait.  I voted plastic for the Senko...

fishing user avatarscaleface reply :

I have never been able to catch the most finicky bass .  I think I saw her laughing .

fishing user avatarYeajray231 reply :

Soft plastic is a very wide category.. @cgolf your tubes and grubs would fit in there as well as all worms , soft plastic jerkbaits, creature baits... I think it's a safe bet to say the soft plastics category will win by a very wide margin...

This ^^^^^^. If you can't get a bite on a Ned rig, might out to think about going home. :(

X2, I like to upsize it and use the shroom heads with a zman finesse worm

fishing user avatarhunterPRO1 reply :

a tiny underspin with a 2" white or black grub (depending on time of day and water clarity.)

fishing user avatarSenko Junkie reply :

Just like last Sunday, if I cant catch fish on these, its just another good day paddling my kayak or relaxing boat ride....lol

For Largemouth it's a 7" worm.

For Smallmouth it's a 2.5" tube.

Senko or Finesse Worm. T-Rig or Wacky or Shakey Head.

If these don't work it's time to pack it up and go home, cause I've already tried everything else lol

What about that "clip worm" you created years ago.lol. I was digging in the archives awhile ago and seen a thread you had made about the Yama kut tail worm. And found your post funny about your "clip worm" and its abitiliy to catch even the most finicky fish :D

If you upsize it more than 4" or 3/32oz head... Then supposedly it's not a Ned rig!

Jig worm I guess.. lol.

fishing user avatarfishballer06 reply :

I will not vote until there's a senko option

fishing user avatariceintheveins reply :

The ned rig, if I absolutely need to catch a fish.

fishing user avatarCTBassin860 reply :

Black/blue Dinger on a T-rig.Not my favorite way to fish but I'm just about guaranteed to catch something.

fishing user avatarSlefler reply :

I should have clarified my answer. A Zenith Shakey head from Mike at Siebert Outdoors. I was prefishing and not really trying to land fish just get bit but every fish that bit I landed and couldn't shake off not matter how hard I tried. 6lber I caught in a tourney on it last month in a brushpile on a dock.

2 3/4" tube for me.

fishing user avatarN Florida Mike reply :

Senkos.( Usually ) To me, plastic flukes are a very close 2nd,if not dead equal.

A friend came over and fished his senko wacky, and I fished zoom super flukes.I caught 10.He  caught 9. Needless to say,I went out and got me some senkos, but I don't ever catch them with wacky. But T-rigged I catch a lot.
