I was wondering what your favorite plastics on a carolina rig are. I'm currently using zoom brushhogs, space monkeys, and lizards but I would like to broaden my c-rig horizons. What do you guys like?
I like lizards, but also use zoom trickworms and flukes.
Ultra vibe speed worm. in my not so secret color.
Shoot, almost any plastic works on C rig, my fave is a 6" roboworm in a few different colors. A bait that I think may be my goto bait, is the ragetail lizard..this thing has major action..
8" curly tail worm or 6" lizard
Lake Fork Tackle ringfry--deadly.
At the time I have a couple of favorites. For my big c rig I use a lot of 8' lizards and 10" worms. On my reg c rig I am really loving Gambler Ugly otters,Wave Tiki Monkey, and Grande Bass Mutants. If you can gets some mutants look into them, they are killer.

A movie could be made, starring that creature.
You could name it: "ALIEN IV- THE OFFSPRING"

;D ;D haha yea its pretty strange and gnarly looking but it works and produces quality fish thats all i care about lol.
It amazes me how many people don't use senko type baits on it,unless of course they are just keeping it a secret.
Flukes, sluggos, trickworms are among my very favorite
Other baits I frequently use would be brush hogs, sizmic and horny toads, sweet beavers, and especially paca craws. The hollow body of the paca is very well suited for a c-rig.
Also would like to add that instead of always switching baits try changing leader lengths. This can make the difference that most people miss.

I like the sound of paca craw on a c-rig...
Rage Tail Craw's and big 10" worms.
In no particular order:
Berkley Beast
7" super fluke
GrandeBass Mutant or Rattlesnake
10" worm
I like the idea of a Paca Craw.
May sound funny but last time I was tossing a Carolina Rig I was using a Floating Stanley Ribbit Frog. I was absolutely killing them on it. I may not go back to what I was using before ;D

Cool! Thanks for the idea 8-)

Don't ever put a small piece of a foam earplug into the body cavity.Oops did I just say that? :-X
Hey Guys,
I like to use brush hogs a whole lot, these things have pretty good action. Great idea of using the senko.
Anybody ever thought about using a three-way swivel to put more than one bait out there on a c-rig?
I have heard of folks tying on two leaders with sluggos or flukes attached.
Ya you can do that and make a chasing bait kind of thing but when casting it can all become a huge mess. I wouldn't reccomend it. Oh and I also like Carolina rigging a a DD22
No one said anything about the old standby! The GRUB, like the Chompers or Kalins grubs or one I really like is the new Netbait twin tail grub ( 3 in. ).
I also like the idea of the frogs or floating frogs. I will have to give that a try.
A big ole worm like a 10 Anaconda or Gene Larew 12 El Salto Grande

Check your state law on that one - might find it to be illegal.
what kinda rod do you guys use...im trying to start to fish it but ik what kinda rod to use

Also see the carolina rigging tips sticky thread at the top of this section.
You will want at least a 7 ft mh fast for chucking 1/2 to 1oz sinkers. A lot of guys just basically use their flippin sticks or frog rods.

Agreed. & just like Bassin_Fin@tic said, you must use at least a 7' rod. IMHO don't go any shorter. You need that long rod to move a lot of line when setting the hook. Also your main line should be fluorocarbon or braid. Both of those will increase your sensitivity & are low stretch for setting the hook. After doing it long enough you will be able to tell if the bottom is rock, mud, grass, gravel, etc...

X2 People automatically think lizard. On the Roadtrip at KY Lake, Uncle Leo was dragging a senko and a 10" anaconda. If I recall, he smoked me that day.
If I had to go with one bait it would be the RageTail Lizard hands down. Best leg action for c-rigging and any other rigging for that matter but no lizard I have tried has any leg action when dragging a c-rig slowly along the bottom except the RageTail.
JMHO
Good timing on this thread. Just starting to try a C-rig. How about a Smoking Rooster or Pit Boss?
I realize that this is an old thread, very old. But informative.
Zman lizard
Top 3 in no particular order are: Lizard, Creature Bait and Grub. I know, I know big surprise right? haha
