Your Favorite Knot? 2024

fishing user avatar*Hank reply :

As the title says what's your favorite all around knot?

I personally like a 6 turn San Diego jam!...

fishing user avatarBig Bait Fishing reply :

I use the improved clinch for everything !!!

A Palomar for dropshotting ..

A uni to uni or an Albright for joining two lines..

fishing user avatar*Hank reply :

The improved clinch is deffenetly my 2nd favorite it's easy and fast!

fishing user avatarCharlie Hicklin reply :

i use the shark knot for almost everything but braid.... i haven't found a stronger knot that i can tie... just google "mark zona shark knot" in videos if you don't know how to tie it... i watched his video a couple times and have been using it ever since...

fishing user avatarOzark_Basser reply :

I think the albright knot is the coolest knot for some reason.  Second would be the double uni connection knot with three tag ends. I think it's a lot like the San Diego jam knot. It's hard to beat the palomar though. Probably one of the strongest knots out there and yet such a simple knot.

fishing user avatarBasshunterJGH reply :

Mono/fluoro: 6 turn San Diego jam

Braid: Palomar

Connection: Blood knot

I use the San Diego jam the most. Works for braid, too.

fishing user avatarBluebasser86 reply :

Palomar for all around knot. I use a SDJ for fluoro most of the time.

fishing user avatar*Hootie reply :

Been using the Trilene knot for about 3 yrs, now. Never had a problem with it.

fishing user avatarcbass12 reply :

Palomar for everything, except for Braid to Leader and for that I like the Modified Albright.

fishing user avatarFisher-O-men reply :

Was palomar, now a Uni convert.  Why all these San Diego knots?  Palomar Mtn is in SD county.  I know the SD Jam originated on the offshore boats.

fishing user avatarjitterbug127 reply :

Palomar and triple surgeon are 99% of knots i tie

fishing user avatarjignfule reply :

Same here.

fishing user avatarAcwood04 reply :

I use the pitzen knot(just like the san Diego jam) for everything including braid. I like the Palomar as well for drop shots. I also use the Albright special for attaching flouro to braid...

fishing user avatarWIGuide reply :

Palomar for everything.

same for me

fishing user avatarChoporoz reply :

Frayed.

No 'favorites'.  I probably use Improved Clinch the most.  But, I still need Palomar, Albright, Anchor Hitch and others.

fishing user avatarannexation reply :

I always use the Palomar for braid - for those times when I want to conserve some of my leader with a smaller tag, I like the improved clinch.

However, after browsing this thread I'm considering giving the San Diego jam a shot.

Just learned the Alberto knot for joining braid and fluorocarbon and I've had much more success with that one than the uni-to-uni, so it's become my favorite line-to-line knot.

fishing user avatarthehooligan reply :

improved clinch for mono

palomar for braid

double uni for leaders

fishing user avatarwytstang reply :

Palomar knot 99% of the time

Uni for open eye type lures (spinners, buzzbaits)
