There are a number of threads here on the BR forum that include 'rod warranty' stories. Some positive - some not so much. Here's a positive one.
While fishing in Mexico earlier this month, I had a St Croix Travel rod blank fail on a hook set (from a surprisingly small bass). This has happened in the past and the first time St Croix replaced them under warranty.
Since then, most all of these rods have failed in a similar fashion. I no longer ask to replace them as I've decided to go another direction for my travel rod needs. Instead, I've utilized the Gold Star Up Grade Program - including today.
As required by St Croix, I sent them the damaged rod along with the required documents (proof of purchase & a short note describing what happened along with my up grade rod request / selection.
Spoke to Gretchen at St Croix today - who said that they had received the rod. (took about a week) St Croix reimbursed full credit for the damage/exploded Tidemaster rod towards the newest 2018 Legend Tournament Jig rod - They are spinning me up a new one - should be here right after the new year - cost me $20 bucks in return shipping - I'd say that's fair. It should be noted here that the two rods (the damaged & replacement rod) had / have the same MSRP.
As a faithful St Croix customer, I have 'several' rods from a variety of their rod lines - these travel rods Are The Only Ones I've ever had to mail back.
While each rod warranty situation is different, the few times I've had dealings with St Croix, the interactions have always been friendly, professional and super easy. They have met or exceeded my 'customer satisfaction' level every time.
So if this is something that is important to you as a potential customer - I'd say buy with confidence.
While I hope you never have to use their warranty program, rest assured that if you do, they'll be there.
YMMV

I will second your solid recommendation of St Croix. I have used their warranty program several times, all but one my own fault, so I gladly paid the greatly reduced fee for a new rod. The one time a rod broke while actually fishing, the only thing I had to pay was the shipping to St Croix, and even that was reduced through their FedEx shipping plan. Their customer service is top notch!
I've used their warranty twice, once on a rod failure with a Rage rod and once was probably my fault so I paid the replacement fee. Both times it went smoothly and the process was much faster than I expected.
I had an old Imperial fly rod with a lifetime warranty. I broke it twice. The first time they fixed it. The second time Isent it in, they sent me a brand new one. Fabulous service. Refreshing.
St. Croix is awesome. I've had defective rods...they've made it right. I've broken several...replacement program is fantastic and easy. Oh, and their rods are pretty dang good too!
All of the rods that I currently use in my regular rotation, are St. Croix, mostly Avids. One day, after a particularly hard hook set, my medium action Avid spinning rod snapped in half. I am fortunate enough to do a lot of fishing within 45 minutes of the St. Croix store in Park Falls, WI, the home of St Croix. I walked in to the St. Croix store, handed them the rod, and they went in back and got me a brand new one.
I noticed that the new models (speaking specifically to the 2018 Tournament Legends) only carry a 15 year warranty where the older models carry a lifetime (limited) warranty. 15 years is a long time, but there is some piece-of-mind about a lifetime warranty. Wonder why St. Croix shortened the warranty?
If sales suffer with the shorter warranty, the lifetime warranty will return. Lifetime warranties are an expense. How much more would you pay for a longer warranty?
I think the 15 yr warranty is more than fine. Honestly, I'd want to replace them all long before the warranty is up anyway so it doesn't bother me.
We are fortunate that our sport of fishing has both rod and reel mfr's that support their products and customers with great customer service and warranties. St Croix has earned their customers support by supporting their customers and hope they continue under the same ownership and business philosophy.
Good write up Andy, do you still plan to use 2 piece rods in the future? I know there is a risk of shipping long rods to Mexico in advance of a trip and cumbersome taking on the airplane.

If you break a rod after using it for 15 years, it certainly wasn't broken due to a manufacturing defect. You more than got your money's worth out of it and it's time to buy yourself a new one rather than expecting a company to replace it out of their pocket.

Thanks Tom @WRB~ These were 3 piece blanks. And Yes - I do prefer the travel rods for the reasons you've mentioned.
It's just Very convenient (and comforting) having all my sticks with me as carry-on on every plane (commercial & private air) While the majority of anglers prefer & take the full length tubes (as check baggage) It's not for me. Seen a few arrive smashed to heck or not arrive at all. Paying all that $$ only to fish with someone else's gear doesn't appeal to me. Currently using G Loomis Escape's and most recently Fenwick Methods sticks in both MH & H, so far so good.
Fishing with them for several weeks prior to a trip is a very good way to acclimate to them. However, truth be told, they both 'fish' like any 1 piece rod I've ever handled, so there's not really much to get used to - just a confidence thing for me. Seems to work though.

The Fenwick ferrule design is excellent, if I travel will look into new travel rods.
Thank you for the detailed reply.

Appreciate the notice but I’m full-up on travel rods at the moment. Had this been a year ago I’d have been all over it but I picked up a few inshore travel spinning rods at Cabelas.

Cool ~ Thanks for the response -
Looks like it's heading to the Flea Market to find it's new home.

I have one of the 2018 LTB Rods and it said 15 year warranty when I received it. 15 years is more than enough piece of mind for me. I will be well into my 40s when that warranty expires so I’m sure I will have something to replace it by then.
I've had a similar experience. I broke a Rage, my fault, and not due to defect. I was able to upgrade to a Legend Elite for essentially the difference in price between the two rods and it arrived faster than they'd expected. They were super pleasant and professional and worked to match me up with the rod I wanted in time for a tournament just a few weeks later. I could not be happier with the service or the quality of the Legend Elite.

Truer words were never written.
99% of the fun of fishing for me is using my own gear.
Nice! I just bought my first St. Croix rod, actually for my kid, a Mojo Bass spinnerbait rod. He likes spinnerbaits and crankbaits and this one had a slower tip that could be passable for crankbaits.
I also like that they're made in the US.

Well, the Mojo Bass rods are made in Mexico.

Oh I thought all of them besides the Triumph were made in the US. Nevermind then.

Mojo, Eyecon, Trout, Panfish, Bass X, and Triumph are made in Mexico.

Aren't the blanks made in Mexico but the rod's are assembled in Park Falls or did they stop doing that all together? Not that it really matters either way.
Designed in Park Falls, built in Mexico, per the website. I believe the mandrels are the same, but there might be a slight difference in the layup. Maybe someone in the know can chime in on that. I have an Eyecon and Premier with the same taper and power, and they're identical. Those rods are at least 5 years old, though.
The mojos are still great rods and in that price range who can compete with the quality the blanks and the warranty.
