I wonder if anyone will come out with a reel lighter than that to one up them. Will you be buying one with your residuals from Let's make a deal, Mr. Gameshow?

fishing user avatarJ Francho reply :

Probably not, Revos aren't my cup of tea, and I would never spend that much on a reel.  $300 is about my cutoff.

I dont blame you. Id like to make it to that cutoff one day...Im at the 2s but haven't gotten there yet

fishing user avatarbassinbrian reply :

I'm not a big Abu guy either, though I just purchased 2 Abu reels .....but that being said I'd rather spend that $400 on something else personally :) I do want to hear people's hands on impression/review.

Holy moly! Like the guys in the pizza parlor insurance commercial, THATS A LOT OF DOUGH!

fishing user avatarflyfisher reply :

At what point does the lightweight design take away from durability?  For me in a kayak i find myself banging rods and reels a little more than when i am in a regular boat.

It does look pretty sweet though....

Seems pretty aggressively priced to me.  It's aimed squarely at the Daiwa Steez crowd, for a $100 less.

I don't know about the Revo, but I have a few Shimano CI4, as well as a few Daiwa Ziaon reels, and they are nothing like the old, graphite framed reels. They are as durable as any other reel.

fishing user avatarDoubled Over reply :

Looks cool but is a bit pricey. I would like to hold one and see what it feels like but I don't see myself spending that much money on a reel.

fishing user avatarSouth FLA reply :

Looks sharp!  I like that they didn't spec it with mag brakes, the best casting Revo I own is the original Skeet Reese model with only centrifugal brakes.

yeah, but the MGX uses IVCB brakes, a variation on centrifugal brakes with different braking characteristics

Product promotional videos are over the top unless the video is from

a BassResource.com sponsor. There is some gray area when the post

is instructional, but that is determined on a case by case basis. The Abu

Garcia video has been removed.

True, but I was thinking something else.

On a side note, now that this sexy little hunny is coming out, daddy might be able to get his hands on a regular MGX for cheap!!!! :respect-059:

fishing user avatar*Hootie reply :

4.9oz., $499.00

That's a $100.00 an oz!!!....to rich for my requirements.

And you would think that with cutting cost on materials it would be cheaper.

fishing user avatarDyerbassman reply :

$500???!!! Not a chance. The price is only as high as someone is willing to pay. And I'm not willing to pay that.

fishing user avatarGlenn reply :

Hey guys, I'm going to overrule on this one.  I don't think anyone was trying to "advertise" with a video.  Can you please repost the video?

Thanks!

I have enough gift cards stocked up at this point, I will be getting one of these. I love my current mgx.
