I am right handed, left eye dominate, and I reel with my left hand. How about you?
im right handed, i reel with my left hand and hold the rod with my right when using spinning and casting tackle
I'm right handed and reel with my right

Me too. I cannot fish with a normal baitcaster, must have one that reels left.
Right handed, reel left
Right handed, cast right, and reel right. I didn't know this was not the norm for many years. My fishing partner laughs and says I'm not as efficient as him but before the lure lands, the rod is switched to the right hand.

I'm right handed, right eye dominant and I spin the handle of a casting reel with my right hand.
However there are no sights on any of my rods, so the eye dominance factor really doesn't come into play . . . .

I couldn't figure out why I felt so awkward when I switched from my left reel spinning setup to a bait cast setup. It's because it was right retrieve. everything I purchased after in bait cast was left retrieve. I couldn't understand why I would want to keep switching hands after casting also (because I cast with my right hand).

Boy, are you behind the times! I'd get to BPS and pick some up before ice out. My casting accuracy went up 83% when I mounted mine on...especially on my jig rod.

OK - Solid advice.
But do you find that casting with your head pinned to the rod hinders your distance at all ?

I am right handed and fish all lefty reels. It just seems natural to set the hook with your dominant hand. I would actually love to be able to fish righty or lefty for the days tendonitis makes even holding the rod painful, kinda like a switch hitter so to speak.
Yous Guys!!!! I thought my eye dominance might be a factor in which hand I reel with. Smarty pants.
Left handed. Most my reels are right handed I just flip the rod over though because my whole life that's what I'm used to. I just got my first left handed reel which is a bait caster. It feels odd having it set up this way.
I'am backwards I guess, Left Handed and reel in with my right

I gotta tell ya , try casting with both eyes open, it wont matter
It's hard to find left handed bait caster's so I am training myself to cast left handed. I am a rightie but have always done the switch over because I didn't learn any better as a kid.
Never understood why baitcasters were backwards from spinning reels. Once I started with a baitcaster I used a left hander even though I'm a righty. Just makes sense to me, but it does make finding reels difficult sometimes.

I'm left handed, left eye dominate, cast left and I reel with my right hand.
Also, I play golf from the right side, but I bat left handed.
I am right handed. I reel spinning reels with the left hand, reel bait casters with the right. I learned it that way and don't have any problems. My son is left handed, started on spinning reels using mine. I bought him a left-handed model (back before designs made it an option for any reel) He continues to reel left handed on spinning reels, also left handed on casting reels. This is PROOF that I am more versatile......

Ohh, you gotta get the raised sights....
Right handed, cast right, reel right with a baitcaster. With a spinning I cast right and reel left. I've never had a problem doing either, so if it ain't broke don't fix it! lol
Also, I palm my baitcasters, those of you that cast with the right and reel with the left do you do the same? Just wondering because to me not having used one it seems like it'd be hard to cast with the reel palmed.

Exactly the same here. I prefer to set the hook with my left, and it's my weak side. Do you do same?

I do, I've never been known to have a light hook set either....just ask those that have sat in the back of my boat when I haul water on one and the bait comes flying back whizzing past their head!
I write left handed.
I cast with my right hand and reel with my left.

I know it well When flipping and pitching, with the slack in the line and a second to compose before the hookset, I'll swing with both hand on the rod and reel. My old partner always said it sounds like a golf club swinging away. Especially with a 7'11 generating the speed.

I keep both hands on my gear when I set too even though 98% of the power is generated from the left, the right just kind of follows along. The worst is if you have a dink hit really close and slam him and that's what goes flying past your partners head haha.

Ah yes, good times! Sometimes gotta duck out of the way of those dinkers. Can't wait to get the season going!!

Same here! Only God knows how much ice is left up here though :/
Im right handed. Use left hand retrieve baitcasters and spinning reels. Was right eye doninate but after an injury to my eye ik left eye dominant

We had 26" so you must have had a bit more. I'm just a few hours south of you. Either way, we're just not getting warm enough to really cause some damage to that base layer. At this rate, we're gonna have some cancelled tournaments. Work tomorrow, off to sleep! Talk soon.

I've asked this question before and never really got an answer. I tried a left handed baitcaster when I was going to get my first, and the move from the trigger during casting to palming was more awkward than just switching hands, and I couldn't cast while palming the reel.

Thanks for a definitive answer! Also it's a lot cheaper than going out and buying one to try since as far as I know everyone else I've fished with and around I've seen doing the same thing.
