Guys i have decided on which two reels i like.Need your help which i should buy.The Quantum Code Red baitcaster or the Abu Garcia Revo S,this is the one that sells for around 100 bucks both of them do actually. Thanks for your help guys
I own a Code and an Abu Garcia Pro Max which is similair to the S. For my money I would go with the S. Casts much better and seems better built to me.
Neither, here is much better reel for less: http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?_DARGS=/cabelas/en/common/catalog/item-link.jsp_A&_DAV=MainCatcat20166-cat20331&id=0053216122487a&navCount=1&podId=0053216&parentId=cat20331&masterpathid=&navAction=push&catalogCode=UJ&rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat601233&hasJS=true
Out of the two you have chosen, I would get the Revo S.
BUT
You can pick up a Citica D for less than $100 now

d**n right! Thanks for the heads up, gonna stop at Cabela's on the way home tomorrow and get me a couple. I love the one I have now, can't beat it for the price!
Yep, the venerable Daiwa TD-A platform is a great design. I have a couple of Sols, a Black Widow II, and a HSTA. Just a great design.
i would get the REVO S , that's what im gonna get !!! i have heard so much good things about the S that i feel confident that it is the best choice .......
well i'm getting either the revo s or the revo sx if i can scratch up some more dough for the sx! ;D
Go with the SX, I know it's more money but you will get a reel that can fish any pattern/application with ease.
Go with the Revo

Well, that didn't last long. It's no longer $75. Boy did that tick me off, hopefully they will go on sale again.
Id get a revo stx...... u can get one brand new on ebay for 120 if you look around a bit........

If you ask RW nicely you can probably get his "barely used" STX for that much too.
i don't know about that reel , i clicked the link and checked the reveiws and they aren't that good , i think the REVO S is a way better deal ..............QuoteNeither, here is much better reel for less: http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?_DARGS=/cabelas/en/common/catalog/item-link.jsp_A&_DAV=MainCatcat20166-cat20331&id=0053216122487a&navCount=1&podId=0053216&parentId=cat20331&masterpathid=&navAction=push&catalogCode=UJ&rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat601233&hasJS=true
Bad reviews? It got a 4.2 out of 5 in 22 reviews. That's pretty good, since most reviews only crop up when someone wants to ***** about it. Two guys had defective products, and another guy was using it for steelhead, LOL. I have the Daiwa version (they are made for Cabela's by Daiwa, was the 153HST), and a Black Widow version, and can tell you that this is one of the best budget reels Daiwa has made. The Daiwa Tierra is what they now sell in that similar price point, so check teh reviews on that as well. A LOT of guys are using them. My fishing buddies have both the STX and SX, and while they like them, in my opinion, they suck. Especially that STX - WORST brakes I've ever used in a modern lopro reel. Sorry Abu.

The Prodigy is built for Cabela's by Daiwa®, but as I have been told by the factory it isn't supported by the factory....
Stick with the Revo S out of the 2 you have listed.....
Tight Lines!!!!
I too will vote for Revo S,I like how easy it is to throw weightless plastics w/o hassles.Stick with the factory centrifical brake setting of 2 on-4 off.Very light "thumbing" needed.
Go with the Revo.
Falcon
Another vote for the Revo S. Among the most versatile LPs available. Excellent quality and great customer support.
Certainly like my Revo's, what blows me away is how much popularity they have gained on this site alone in just the past year.

I bought the revo s at wal mart today.Just wondering how you get to the braking?Does the side the brakes is on slide down?up?Thanks
Loosen the knurled chrome screw head on the reel handle side. It won't come all the way out. Once you've loosened it, rotate the sideplate on the brakeside clockwise about 1/8 of a turn. The sideplate will come off. Then you can adjust the brakes.
I don't think that's color case hardening. It looks more like some trick titanium deposition or anodization finish.

MICRO , i think you posted this in the wrong topic , should of been about the special edition REVO S with the PT like finish ,
Yep, I was wondering where that post went. ;D

I'm not sure what you saw but this is on sale for $79 now only $ difference
Also last years Citica's are $89 that is a great buy
If I hadn't have just bought a top line Pflueger and a Curado I'd buy a couple. I'd probably be smart to sell both and buy them anyway.
P.S. This is the one and only time I've ever seen someone recommend a Cabela's reel on this site. I've seen the rods mentioned fairly often but never a reel. That doesn't automaticly make it bad just food for though

I just set mine to 2 on 4 off.Hope this is a good setting

what i've noticed is that different forums have different personalities and, thus, different favorite brands. i participate in another forum that raves about the prodigies (actually, rebadged daiwa tierras).

Thanks,
Good post people ( including me ) can always learn something new everyday
that is the truth .................
Its good Bass Bro,you tell me when you get it down. Two afternoons showing my nephew and he got it....wants one now!As always on windy days(10-15mph head winds or higher)use to the wind to help the cast, don't fight it.I think down south they call it Kentucky windage, after awhile you'll know exactly how the wind will carry the bait precisely onto the target. Its a great reel,man...I hope you enjoy the heck out of it!Good Luck!
Abu Garcia; I think they make better reels than Quantum IMO.
QuoteAbu Garcia; I think they make better reels than Quantum IMO.
ABU GARCIA makes good quality reels through the whole price range (100-300$) where as with quantum , it either an inexpensive reel that sucks or an expensive reel that is good . seems they don't offer a good reel for budget minded people . just my opinion , by the way ..............

i figured it out. just do a search for NGJ-122487 and you can still get it for $74.99.

IM just going to throw this out here, but have you ever tried all the abu garcia products for a period of time where you can say these are quality reels and are a great value they've held up etc. The same goes with quantum have you tried all lines of reel and tested them to come to a conclusion i know i haven't which is why I don't make statements like this. I know you've said in my opinion but really how did you come to this.
Jeeze im starting to sound like muddy.
I'd buy a higher end Quantum in a heartbeat.
The new Tour Edition PT baitcaster and the Tour Edition PTi-B spinning reel are awesome looking and the smoothest reels I think I've ever turned. The drag on the TE PT Bbaitcaster is right up there with the Revo.

i think by listening to everyones feed back on quantum and abu garcias reels , feedback from everyone that does or has owned them . in this forum and other places , you don't really hear that much (if it all) about lower priced quantum reels , but on the other hand , you hear ALOT about lower priced abu g. reels . and no , im not talking about the black max or any other ''max'' reels . im talking about the REVO series . most of the time , and i think you can agree , is that barely anyone praises the ''code'' , ''icon'' , and ''burst'' reels . a great majority of the praise is for the ''energy'' and ''tour'' . well anyhow , it was just my opinion (observation) , didn't mean to make a fuss about it btw , check out the post above , kinda what im talking about ...........

I see, but can you see where im coming from there are people that love both reels in diffrent price categories it's better to talk of this you have experience in.
Also to the person that said something about buying the reels NOT funny ... :
