I Got My First Jdm Rod 2025

fishing user avatarJohn G reply :

Major Craft MLC-67/BFS 6'7" 1/16 TO 1/4OZ 4-12lb line

The only shipping charge was the original $50.00 from Shimreels and there was no customs fees do at signing. I went to my local FedEx yesterday to inquire about the shipping fees that I may incur upon delievery and the lady could not tell me that info but she did say the package was valued at $85.00. That would really suck if the rod got damaged cause I may only get $85 instead of the $260.00 that I paid.

I ordered this rod from Shimreels in Viet Nam on ebay June 16 and it arrived today, July 24. It was shipped using economy shipping and it was scheduled to get here July 14 and on July 16 I sent Shimreels a message asking about my rod. They said that their shipping dept says that it was shipped back to them the previous week and they will resend it via FedEx International Express. Well, they sent it FedEx International Economy. The first time around, I did not get any tracking info. The second time around, I did. I am shocked that this rod arrived in one piece. It was shipped in those semi long boxes with three boxes taped together and inside the boxes was a fair amount of newspaper and bubble wrap along with an extendable aluminum pole that was extended to the length of the rod. LOL

It is definitely by far the prettiest rod that I have ever owned and the attention to detail appears to be flawless and to my surprise, it isn't whippy at all. I will be throwing Strike King Bitsy Minnows (2.4 grams) with it tomorrow and hopefully catch a decent size Bass or Bluegill.

I do not know where it was made as it does not say Made in Japan or China and anywhere else.

Major Craft has it going on. The styling and the build quality at a very affordable price is hard to beat IMHO.

Purdy!!!!  Congrats.  One of my rods (shipped from Amazon) came in a 3 sided cardboard container.  Very flimsy.  Like you, I expected at least 2 pieces to come out of the box, but nope, it was fine.  Flip side I received a rod in a sturdy tube.  Opened it to find the tip broke off.  Sender put nothing around the rod to keep if from sliding back-and-forth in the tube.  You never know what you are getting until the rod is in hand.  You got lucky.  That box looks like a heavy breeze would destroy it.

Thanks everybody! Your dang right it's worth it. I have read all the comments about Major Craft rods and they are all true. The attention to detail is excellent and these rods are a steal at their asking price. My only gripe is the packaging. I can deal with the wait but the packaging sucked.

fishing user avatarkickerfish1 reply :

Yea that packaging looks sketchy. I think my Christmas tree box is in better shape and more sturdy! Luckly it wasn't damaged or broke.

Good choice on the reel. Now you can get a few accent parts from Hedghog Studios and call it complete?

Is that a ZPI handle and Daiwa knobs on that Shimano?

The handle is a complete ZPI Platinum Handle with ZPI carbon knobs. I bought it from Japan Tackle last Christmas by mistake. I thought that I was buying a handle without knobs and I got this instead. I have tried to put Shimano knobs on it but I can't get them to spin correctly. I like these knobs after using them for a while but if I can, I will be replacing them with the aluminum ZPI BFS knobs that The Hooligan uses. Great minds think alike because I ordered a red Avail spool from Japan Tackle last week and it might be here tomorrow. I'll post a side pic of the handle tomorrow when I get home from work.

Nice! Winter time usually brings out the best in us that are snowed in for a few months. That is usually when I am bored enough to think about upgrades. Sounds like you have a good plan coming together for this one.

Please give us the run down on this setup when you get the chance plus pictures of the final product!

Awesome rod John

fishing user avatarOzark_Basser reply :

The craftsmanship looks top notch. Very pretty rod. I wonder how much it retails for? With titanium framed torzite guides and all those nice components, that rod shouldn't be cheap at all.

I'm assuming they are titanium frames since Fuji is the only company using torzite, and they only make them with titanium frames.

fishing user avatarHogsticker reply :

Yes, they are titanium framed guides. This is Major Crafts top bass rod. They retail between 240 and 280 depending on model. It's a lot of rod for the money. Even factoring in the 50 to 70 bucks you'll pay in shipping for a 1 piece, it's still a lot of rod. Major Crafts build quality is 2nd to none. They have a factory in Vietnam where all rods are assembled. It has also been confirmed at Icast that they are bringing over 2 lines to the US market this year. One is the Corzza, the other I haven't confirmed yet, but I have a suspicion it will be the Speedstyle.

fishing user avatarOzark_Basser reply :

Between 240 and 280? A steal indeed. I wonder how they pull that off?

I paid $260 and Plat has it for $250. I can't imagine that Plat would do the crappy packaging job that Shimreels did. I wouldn't mind paying a little extra for shipping just to know that my rod was packaged well. I did not shop around when I bought this but I will next time. I want the 6'5" model now and Plat has that one to. I can't find a flaw in this rod and I also don't know how Major Craft is building this nice of a rod at this price.

I did not get a chance to use it today because of all the rainstorms that we have had so the only use it has had is throwing the Bitsy Minnow in my pool.

With my Aldebaran Mg7 mounted on it, the balance point is well behind the locking nut.

fishing user avatarbootytrain reply :

Next time go through Plat. My MSX shipping from Plat was only 65 and I got it in a week. Its crazy it took a month to arrive! And Plat sends in a PVC tube.

Thank you Mike. I have the Conquest 50 gear sets on the way from Plat and when I put the new gears in, I am putting a Conquest 50 on this rod. It's either going to be a Conquest 50 with an Avail spool or I am going to get an Aldebaran BFS XG Limited.
