K Imae, the gentleman behind Evergreen, is coming out with a custom, limited edition Revo with his name on it.  Looks pretty slick!

That what I figured, but still an awesome looking reel.

fishing user avatarMicro reply :

Any idea, Robert, where the handle and drag-star is available?  Definitely has a cool Daiwa look to it.

fishing user avatarKYntucky Warmouth reply :

The neat special editions are always japan only

fishing user avatarRedlinerobert reply :

True, Rick, but you can purchase these reels and rods from Ebay and one of several Japanese sites that ship to the states.

Micro,

I have no idea if they will be available seperate or not.  As soon as I have pricing and availability on the reel I'll make sure to post.

fishing user avatarplastic ninja reply :

It needs a mag brake, and a paint job.

I'll say.  Notice the lack of the mag brake!

You know what that means.   :)

Yes, the Skeet Reese is the same way, but I am sure that it is modified on this one.

Too much like a PT

Well this reel came out in 2000 which was well before the PT. I'd say that the PT looks too much like a Ryobi

why would you want a rainbow colored reel?  :-? No thanks.

There are some sweet reels out of Japan though, too bad they cost an arm and a leg.

fishing user avatarDan: reply :

I just don't get it. Are they just culturally more inclined to fancy things, or are Americans just frugal? It seems like their products are much more modern design oriented than American versions

fishing user avatarfirefightn15 reply :

Redlinerobert, awhile back I asked you about having some work done on a reel and you left me with contact info which I haven't used yet.  I now have a revo sx on a carrot and want to have the spool, handle, and cast control done in a burnt orange.  I know you can't give exact pricing, but can you tell me about what I am looking at.  As with most people, especially nowadays, I need to be frugal and am just wondering if I can swing it.

Thanks, Brian

Rainbow colors mean one thing only  :) im a black on red red on black chrome blue yellow kinda guy im not a skittle with sugar in my tank :)

fishing user avatar21farms reply :

isn't that look achieved by color case hardening? if so, not only does it look cool but it makes the finish much more durable as well.

fishing user avatarMicro reply :

I don't think that's color case hardening.  It looks more like some trick titanium deposition or anodization finish.

yes, i think you're right. i looked up tackle tour's review of some quantum reels with that same look and they said it was hi-temp titanium deposition which is "actually extremely hard, and much more durable and scratch resistant than the painted finish of traditional reels"

fishing user avatarkikstand454 reply :

also...

its not "rainbow colored" it is irradecent. it changes colors at different angles. like when you look at that oil slick your evinrude just left in the water. ;D ;D
