Carrot Stick LTX first impressions. 2025

fishing user avatar=Matt 5.0= reply :

WOW! This thing weighs nothing! Very well made, looks like it should cost more than a buck fifty. Feels great, balances nicely with my Stradic2500, it just looks ugly as sin with that light blue/pearl reel!  ;D Can't wait to go catch something this weekend if the weather co-operates.

IT still needs to be blessed and christened :o Good Luck with it, you earned it, you came a long way this year. ;)  Remember those couple of days, learning about the spawn?  Those were some great trips, good times.

fishing user avatarlubina reply :

Good luck with it....I'll be getting one soon. ::o

fishing user avatarTin reply :

Ahhh yes christened and blessed, dont leave marks on your handle like I did though   ;D.

fishing user avatarmichbass reply :

Like the looks of them, Look nice with a sol mounted. What has your experience been with grip in the rain or if your hands are sweating?

Can't comment, haven't fished it yet. Tin2Win can give better insight than I can.

Good times indeed, this year went by way to fast   :-/

It's strange, a search on the net brings up mixed reviews.  Here at BR, it's getting rave reviews, being compared to Steelz and GLX's but on other forums (Tackletour) being one, they are getting rather poor reviews, for example, low sensitivity, bad guides, reel seats and poor handles =/

Now I don't know what to believe  :-/

fishing user avatarLow_Budget_Hooker reply :

I threw it a few times, not enough for a full review but the 2 stand out +'s in my hands were

1. super light, even with  spinning reel on it. (but still not as light as the ML Steez of I used at RedlineRoberts.)

2. super sensitive.

The negs' (in my eye) were

1. Ugliest rod I've ever held, bar none.

2. I hate foam grips

3. The eyes seem a little cheesy.  I had eyes like those on an L trout rod once, it was an El Cheapo.  Maybe it just reminds me of those but...very "dainty" eye.

4.  Butt ugly.  So ugly, it deserves 2 mentions, lol.

Change the grips and eyes and the rod is a steal for $150 IMO, but a rack rod is still a rack rod to me.  I'm quickly turning into one of those "Customs only" kind of guys but not because I think the are better or make me better,...it's a karma/sentimental thing for me.

:o

LOL...

That's is odd. Any other time the anglers on this site would be hanging on every word written about any tackle on TackleTour.

The only positive review on that stick I have read here is from Redline and Tackle Tour review after the show, and since Redline has returned from his big trip after Peacocks with it, I haven't seen any words other than these written about the gimmick of the year.

Just my .02¢

Tight Lines!!!

fishing user avatarSimonSays reply :

Ahhh, I'm guilty of putting too much faith in TackleTour myself, but when BR members put up their own reviews I take those into account also, which in my opinion is as great as the information at TT.  Must question everything to find the truth!...left other philosophy from my Bio and Physics majors working  :o!

Weight, action, quality compare to a Steez.   I mention that in the review earlier...... :o

and it's comparable to one according to RedLine ;D

fishing user avatarTin reply :

The only complaints I have about the spinning carrot stick I have is I wish the handle was a little bigger and how you have to buy a sol or paint a reel to match the rod, lol.

The guides are pac bay's with titanium inserts which I really dont know much about because I have really only used rods with fuji guides. But I do know after a year of use I create grooves in the guides from setting the hook with the braid. But with the titanium wont it be a little harder for the braid to create grooves?

The only way I can describe the rod is that is lighter than any rod I have ever felt, and with the sensitivity of a loomis. Which is a pretty sweet deal for only $150. And as for the people giving them bad reviews, you cant make everyone happy  :o.

3.2 ounce rod, full lifetime warranty, very sensitive, one of the best rods for cranks I have seen, great craftsmanship all for $150,  sounds like a gimmick to me :o

fishing user avatarbassrogue reply :

I have been able to fish with the spinning model a few times.

I've been using it as a search bait type rod. Lipless cranks, and shallow-medium divers mostly. Not ideal but I also used it as a drop-shot rod fishing for crappie. It is a very light rod(lightest rod I've used to date). As far as sensitivity goes it is very sensitive, closest rod I own and use to compare it with is a Avid 7' MH/Fast. It has plenty of power to bring in a 3# LM bass(unfortunately biggest caught on this rod so far). I guess grip material is personal preference. The foam grip doesn't seem to lose grip when wet to me.

One draw back in my eyes is as LBH says, the guides do seem to be a little flimsy. The rod I got seems to be a little tip weighted too(not bad, just not perfect). But e21's web site says the rod can be balanced by removing the butt cap and adding weight. I'm going to see if I can find some weights that will work or see if switching the reels will help balance it out. Right now I have a Symetre 2500FI on.

As of right now I think it is a great rod for price.

Exactly my point, 3.2 ounces, sensitive, lifetime warranty? what else do you want for $150?

Yup sure is!

The LTX...These are not the original Carrot Stix that were in the ICAST show.

Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!

You're comparing two types of rods that cost more than twice as much..... :-?

fishing user avatarblade reply :

If you will do alittle research the site will tell you that they aren't the ones from the show, they are more of an entry level priced carrot stix,  The ones from the show are available for pre ordering now and are to be shipped in the next couple of weeks.  But still they are the same blank just alittle different components and the grip is different on the new ones which are called " carrot stix ltx plus"  Can you tell me where else I can find a rod with all of these features for $150?

fishing user avatarblade reply :

I just looked at your rods that are for sale, and they are absolutely beatiful pieces of art too.  You do some awesome work.  But I noticed that they are around $220-$230 and only have a year warranty and weigh over 4 ounces.  So why are you knocking the carrot stix?

fishing user avatarRedlinerobert reply :

The Carrot Stick was the hands down favorite rod of my guide, Ze Bodo.  This guy knows a thing or two about rods.....

I haven't posted anything else because there really isnt anything else to post about it?

Regardless, I think it's a fantastic rod at any price point and I repeat,  many thought that "carbon fiber" was a gimmick when it first came out as well.

It isnt the same rod as the one at ICAST, in my opinion they made some great improvements on it.  The foam handles are awesome and I am leaning towards those types of rods due to the non slip of the foam.

fishing user avatarblade reply :

I couldn't agree more  8-)

Went out with tin2win today for four hours. Air temp was in the mid 40's, water temp was in the low 40's. Man, this rod is sick. Fantastic for shaky heads and finese fishing. I switched back to my BPS Extreme to toss some jigs around...and the Extreme felt like a pool cue or a broomstick. Honestly, the Carrot Stick is so comfy with the Stradic I didn't want to put it down. Love the split grip with the foam...so comfy. I was never a fan of the foam grips, but these are nice. The rod also casts a country mile, using a 1/4 oz sled head and #8 Yo Zuri ultra soft.... LOVE IT!

fishing user avatarTin reply :

But I dont love the torment we get about how cute we look together with our matching orange fishing rods. lol         :-[ :-[ :-[

That's it!!! I can't take it anymore! Could you tell me what exact model you have? For $150, I just might need to get me an early Christmas present. Thanks! This ought to compliment my Lamiglas Certified Pro Drop Shot special.
