Berkley vanish line 2025

fishing user avatarCTBASS reply :

What is the opinion of the forum on Vanish line?

:)

fishing user avatarTriton20XSD reply :

I'm sure you will get varied responses.  I thought it was junk when it first came out.  Then I tried the Transition which I didn't think was too bad but I just don't trust it.  I think I may have had a few bad spools when it first came out and find it hard to buy it now.  I like P-Line Fluorocarbon better.  I bought the new Berkley professional grade fluoro and tried it over the weekend.  I seemed to hold up much better than the Vanish.  I was fishing rocky areas with hair jigs (8# test) and got snagged several times and the line was pretty hard to break.  Personally I would stay away from the Vanish. Just my opinion.

fishing user avatarWayne P. reply :

Ditto on Vanish. I made it vanish from all my rigs. As far as the new Professional grade, it has a larger diameter than the same pound test in Vanish. Not even interested !!!!

fishing user avatarKy_Lake_Dude reply :

A lot of people swear against it but I really like this stuff. I highly recomend it :)

fishing user avatarburleytog reply :

I never had any problems with the stuff.  The 12 lb. was good line and always treated me well.  Like all flouro it was very picky about knots.  Had to cinch very slowly and lubricate very well.

fishing user avatarshoff reply :

Possibly the worst line that I have ever tried.

fishing user avatariceintheveins reply :

Vanish stinks. Has no abrasion resistance, terrible knot strenght, and gets brittle quickly. If you want to use an all fluoro line. I recommend P - Line. Their lines rock.

fishing user avatarlow_pro reply :

I found it pretty sensitive but I could only get half of my knots to stay...  I tried several different knots (even the recommended trilene knot) and nothing was any better.

Don't trust it....

fishing user avatarJake. reply :

It liked to snap on me at very innapropriate times.  >:)

fishing user avatar5bass reply :

Vanish has gone thru different stages with me. When it first came out, it sucked. Then they changed a little something and it got better 100%....I used it for a good while with no issues at all. Then it went back to crap and I havent messed with it since.

The Berkley 100% is probably the best on the market right now in my opinion. I use the KVD Line and Lure Conditioner on it and it's really good stuff. Holds a tight knot, easy to cast, low memory, abrasion resistant and very strong.

fishing user avatarohiobassmaster93 reply :

i like i use it and it works good for me

fishing user avatarbasser89 reply :

Like 5BL, I've gone through stages as well. When it first came out I was ok with it, then they "improved" it and I was sold on it! When Transition came out, I thought I'd give it a try, IMPO, Transition SUCKS (VERY VERY VERY brittle)! I tried switching back to Vanish and found it to be just a brittle as the Transition is now. I''m a Berkley fan but I won't use another Berkley Fluro. BPS XPS series fluro is my favorite.

fishing user avatariceintheveins reply :

I have found many of the berkley lines to be brittle, especially after they changed the formulas. XL used to be good stuff, until they changed the formula. Then it got brittle and UV rays seemed to do a number on it much faster. Stren all the way for me.

fishing user avatarHot Rod reply :

I like Vanish and Transition.  But I had problems with breaking off right at the knot until I started using a uni-knot exclusively.  No problems but I only use it on my baitcasters.

I use the Trilene 100% for spinning.

fishing user avatarKodiak Zach reply :

Spend $6 more and get Berkely Trilene 100% Fluorocarbon since it is about 2x to 3x times stronger. I used Vanish exlusively for 3 years until I switched to the 100% Trilene Floro. What a difference, instantly noticeable. If you get snagged with Vanish, all you have to do is a tug a little and it will break. If you get snagged with Trilene Floro, it's a d**n TUG OF WAR to get it to break.

fishing user avatarjrhennecke reply :

Use it as a leader on my spinning rod, and have it spooled on my flippin stick and crankn rod.  Never had a problem.

fishing user avatarRainman reply :

I agree stay away from Vanish. Here a lot of good things

about Berkely Trilene 100% Fluorocarbon.

fishing user avatarNoboat reply :

In this month's In-Fishermen, a Berkley rep was quoted as saying that Vanish was neber designed for "repeated casting and heavy lures".  The article stated that it was originally designed for walleye and vertical jigging.

I wonder if it states that on the package it comes in ?

fishing user avatarWayne P. reply :

Hmmmmm, I wonder if anyone uses the Vanish in 20# for walleye fishing or verticle jigging light baits?

fishing user avatarba7ss3in reply :

I didn't like it when it first came out. Didn't hold up well, I was re-spooling because of breaks.

fishing user avatarThe Next KVD reply :

The stuff is absolute garbage.  P-Line is WAY BETTER!!!!!

+1

I've got the 2000yd spools of the 12 and 15lb Berkley Pro-Grade; it only took me one filler spool of each to realize it was the fluoro I had been waiting for.  I purchased a filler spool of 20lb to throw swimbaits on today, and it casted effectively with relatively no memory.  I actually purchased two filler spools and gave them away to a couple of fluoro users on the Bass Pro forums.  I was one of the first ones to get the Pro-Grade last summer, and I was so excited about it's performance I wanted someone else to try it.  How about you make a phone call and get us on the pro-staff so we can bathe in this line!  I would spool every reel with it, but as of now only my jig and worm rods get the good stuff.

fishing user avatarWillzx225 reply :

I spoke to the Berkley rep concerning my distaste for Vanish and he gave me the same answer.  "It was mainly produced for Dropshotting and other light line vertical tactics"  I'm glad that it was written on the box when I bought it because I wouldn't have broken off a few crankbaits trying to get extra depth out of them. >:)  I also broke my line when I hung one up and tried to "pop" my line - - > it really did Pop but it was right at the reel.

fishing user avatarCFFF 1.5 reply :

I have had no problems with it and actually like it a lot. I use the #20 to throw crankbaits that I don't want to dive as deep. I have never been broken off.

fishing user avatarMichBassMan reply :

It's been a couple years since I tried it in both 8 and 10lb test. I tried both vanish and trasition. In my opinion, in 50yrs of fishing it is perhaps the worst mono I've ever used. I found it fragile, weak, and undependable.
