I know they are new, but has anyone put a hand on one of these? I am thinking about getting one in the 7' Heavy, x-fast (3/8 oz - 1 oz) or 7' MH, fast
(3/8 oz - 1 oz) for pitching and flipping.

i was looking at one today when i went to get some more line. im just so once to using cork handles now that the foam handle felt funny. but im looking for a new setup myself i was liking the johnny morris signature series rods. i also like the rcx rods too. dont know how the will handle but like the way the felt. and the rcx i can get down with the purple lol. i dont know bout their reels didnt mess with them there. im looking to do a combo deal when i get my next setup. im thinking bout a 7' as well. but liked the 7'6. i was even checking out some of the other pro qualifiers i have the 6'6 mh.
How was the weight of the rod? What do you think of the backbone of the rods and the flexibility of the tip?
its very light but i cant hand feel the weight difference from the carbonlite to the like of other rods i was holding. heres is another thread on this rod from this site. hope this helps you.

Thanks. My wife just called my local BPS and they actually just got the rods in today and they don't even have them on display yet, still in shipping packaging they said. Fortunately she called when she did cause they only got one in the 7' H, XF. So she asked them to hold it, guess we are headed to BPS tonight.
are you getting the combo set up or just rod?the mag says their 189.98 for the 7' H rod combo and 179.98 for 7' M rod the reel is a 7 bearing system with dual breaking system and a duralumin gears, the reel color is gold. but it seems to only be a 6.4:1 ratio though. and weighs 6.7 ounces. if u do get it and when uses it or have any heplful info on them pm and let me know cause i will be getting a new setup down the road.

I've been more interested in the reel than the rod. While the Carbonlite rods seem like good deals, and at least one person on the other thread actually fished with a prototype and gave it a good review, there are other brands of split-grip rods of similar features as the BPS Carbonlites, all pretty close in price. However, there is no other reel with the specs of the Carbonlite reel that is anywhere close in price. I will be waiting for the reel to go on sale and grab one for sure (unless the bait monkey gets me and I actually pay full price for a BPS reel! )
They have them at the richmond bps and on the shelves, when I went today. They are light feeling and seem pretty well made for the price and probably compare to similar price models from other manufacturers. I know that I could not give up my zillions or imx's for it or even compare them to it. Once again in the 80.00 to 100.00 price range, could easily be compared to vendettas etc. IMO
I messed with the carbonlite yesterday at Portage In. BPS. I thought it felt tip heavy and I do not like these rods going back to foam grips. Just my opinion folks.
I used to not like foam grips but found I like it alot since I got my zillions and feels more comfortable to me now . Indiana Bass1 is right they seem a little tip heavy but sure balances out with the right reel. NOW since I am not on a budget would I buy one, probably not. But for someone who is why not.
Well, I had to do it. I went up and picked one up. The guy at the counter said that the store just got them in that day and I got the only Heavy they got in. Awesome feeling pole. I have to decide on a reel to go on it. Any suggestions guys? I will mostly flipping and pitching and throwing jigs with it.
I have a brand new package of 30lb Suffix just aching to be spooled, lol.

im surprise you didnt get the carbonlite reel to for a combo set up. together would saved you about 40 dollars. i just dont much about the reel i posted the specs on it earlier. but i didnt handle one in the store.goose52 says hes is interested in the reel more so than the pole.
Fish it about a year then give us an honest review on it.
Actually I am trying to work it now. They had no reels or info on them or a combo online even. I just talked with online customer service and they were no help as I did not have the part number for the reel, but they said if I can find the number etc...that they should honor the price. Guess I am going to call my store back. I do want the reel though!
if this number is right in my bps book the combo item number for reel is 21-952-902 (the reel item number is 21-351-598-00)
Thanks so much! I will hit them up right now!

no prob anytime
The woman kept giving me the run around so I just asked for second level customer service's phone #. I will call them and get it straightened out. I did find out that they are back ordered for 2 weeks to 1 month.
man people must be jumping on these. i hope their a good quality reel an rod.
The Carbonlite reel has now sold-out 3 times on the BPS web site. They posted it initially and it sold out and they took the listing off the site. Then they got more, reposted, sold-out, and then pulled it from the site. The third time they pulled it was yesterday or the day before. When the reel sells out, they also pull the combos...
We don't know how many they have sold, but it's obvious the interest is there. Also, all the right-hand Pro Qualifiers are sold out as well.
I held the BPS CarbonLite Trigger Rod and CarbonLite reel today at BPS in TX. The 7' rods felt pretty good for a $99 rod. I can't find out the actual weight but its VERY light. Felt like no more than 6 or 7 oz. The CarbonLite reel is only 6.7 oz and looks more like their ProQualifer reel and has the same features including dual (Centrifugal & Mag) brakes. It felt really good for a $179 combo.
Thanks for the report Steezy. Maybe I'll have to get a combo instead of just the reel!
All said and done, almost one hour later, I got the reel (on backorder 2-4 weeks) for $60 and free shipping. It was worth my patience this time.
congrats on reel!! so how much did your total come out too with rod? did everything cost more than the combo price or less cause i think your combo price would been 189.98 i think with your 7' pole. u did get the H right? just now have to wait the those 2 to 4 weeks.

Wow - great score. I'm gonna fight the bait monkey if I can and wait for a sale ...
I got the 7' H XFast. I paid the $110 at the store and then I ended up getting the reel for $60 with no shipping. So all in all they took care of me but I have to wait till the reel comes off back order. The key was asking for upper level customer service.
I bought one of these yesterday at the BPS in Dallas...its a great feeling rod and very light. I bought the 7' MH moderate action and gonna try and use it for cranks. I figured it was only 100$ so I couldn't go wrong.
I have several of the prolite finesse rods and LOVE them. I held the carbonlite rods this weekend. They should be a hit as well. They felt just as light but do seem a little tip heavy due to the lighter split grips vs a solid full bodied grip on the old rods. I always said that I wished they made a mh prolite finesse rod and now they have MH and H rods in the carbonlite series. I will have to give one a try if my Johnny Morris Elite rod breaks that I use for worming.
