So I was doing some tight quarters combat fishing and managed to catch a bush in my back cast.No saving this one!
Haha yuck!
The good news is its Yo-Zuri and not Power Pro.
Go ahead, be a man!
You can get that out!
If it were mine it would be Power Pro!

I had the mother of all backlashes Wednesday when some cottonwood pollen got on my line and then stuck in my line guide when I cast.
The only way I was able to get it out was to cut it.

Those are my go to scissors when I throw in the towel too.

Ugh cottonwood....it's all over the place right now and aggravating when it gets all over your line. All my Ash trees are dead from the Emerald Ash borer, why couldn't they go after the cottonwood instead.

Same here.
Hopefully that was cheap mono. My backlash was on 14lb Trilene XL which is easy and cheap enough to replace

KVD braid cutters in my bag.The Rapala scissors are in my TV remote holder so i can sit on the couch and be comfortable during the surgical procedure.

Yo-Zuri Hybrid. 10 bucks for 600 yards is cheap enough and i still have 400 yards or so left.
We all must use the same pair of scissors too!
Just for the record, they cut braid pretty well too when you lose your mind.

Dude, that is seriously impressive!!!!!!
That's one nasty backlash. How did you manage to backlash so deep? it looks like its at least half of your line
Championship caliber over run right there.
Be proud of that one.
A-Jay
We have all been there done that. I feel your pain!!!!!
Nicely done but i've picked out worse. Nanofil is expensive. When it's a non braid it's best to cut it out and respool. Picking at it seems to damage it.
WOW!!
NICE!!
You let out a loud grunt and a crow hop on that cast didn't you?
Looks like its time for "Fluffy" to comment on this thread.

Not bad.

That looked like my Chronarch CI4 when I hit a tree branch on a cast earlier this year.
Bill Dance said you might just want to trade that one in!
I cast forward but the jig was already in the bush behind me haha.I packed up a went home.

I don't know how it works, but I have had backlashes that weren't anywhere near that bad, yet I had to pull all the line off the spool to clear all the loops out.
Somehow that makes me feel better ?
Yessiree, you've had a MOAB. Scissors are your friend there.
Gotta hate those trees and such behind you when you least
expect them to be there.

I usually look behind me but it was a school and I was so excited to catch more. Instead I had one setup with me in Florida and silly me forgot to bring my back up reel. Instead I couldn't catch anymore. I was bummed!

C'est la vie.
One reason I like to stage my rods laying down in
front of me in my kayak. I inevitably catch one of
them sitting in the crate behind me.

I know what you mean, you pull out all the big loops and then there's just as many smaller ones that have to be pulled out
Been there, done that...
got a similar looking back lash out last year, took an hour and a half, but i saved my 4 bucks worth of line >.>
OP if you want a little trick to stop those really bad backlashes I got it. Spool your line up and take your rod&reel to the backyard or local park or lake. Bring with you a roll of scotch tape (also called clear tape). Make a cast and pull off about 30 or 40 more feet then put a piece of scotch tape where the line meets the spool. It will stop backlashes from going any further than the tape and if you need to move the tape just pull it off and pull 30 or 40 more feet of line off and put the same piece of tape back where the line meets the spool. Trust me it works.
I can do that! Time after time after time! And I don't even need help from the local flora. I just forget to turn all those little wheelie thingies on the sides off my reel when I change lures.
