We had this year almost over now,not much left of it, but has your year been what you expected it or the same?,or better than you expected it ? mine was about less than i expected it . but what's left i'll try and make something out of it, fishing that is !
and did you do anything new or different ? or just stayed with your normal technique ? mine was the same. imo!
Mine went well better then expected id say. I mostly stayed the same, however did experience with some hollowed body frogs and had some success.Every now and then id lay down my much used texas rig and sub in a jig and keep trying to get better with it and actually made a close run at my PB on a jig so id say its been a good year hopefully ill stay successful through fall and winter. Best of luck to you Squirmin!
Better? As far as fish and fishing less than yrs. pass but we stayed busy all spring & summer with only 6 or so times on the water. As far as bussiness goes, a great yr. in the tackle buss. Our tournament trails will start in another month and the pro/ams and opens soon after. I made myself a promise to fish all the pro/ams & opens on Oroville (if there's any water left in it) Clear lake & some on the delta. I've got this brat kid that's been hanging around the shop trying to learn the bussiness and seems to be getting it quite well. He's my great nephew so he's got no choice!
Give an old man more time to fish!
It went really well, not sure if it was better than expected (I typically have a positive attitude and expect to do well). Figured out a few different seasonal adjustments to what I had been doing, both in location & lure selection/presentation. The result was a new PB, multiple times besting the most fish in a day and substantially raising the average number I caught per trip. Then again, maybe my home lake is just finally coming into its own...
Plus I saw a raccoon play "where did I leave my car keys" inside another homeowners docked boat.
Mine has been great! I've moved to TX from CA and fishing has been very good. And I don't think the winter is real winter around here. Only minus is that I don't have fishing buddy yet.
Mine was worse than I expected and I would blame the ever changing weather, but my refusing to adapt to those changes is the reason. This is very different from the way I've always approached my time on the water, normally I'm very observant and quick to change tactics when necessary. Guess I'm just getting too set in my ways as I get older.
Number wise far from my best year, if the fish aren't here you just can't catch them. Size wise, pretty darn good year so far and "my season" is just staring.
Numbers have been good, but size has been off. I haven't been skunked this year, but I haven't had a lot of lunkers either.
Numbers and size are down for be this year. Very long winter followed by a mild summer combined with weather changing daily makes it a tough year for fishing I guess. I'm catching a lot more northern pike than I am bass this year.
I'd say a fifty-fifty fir me, the river hasn't produced the size I was hoping for, but I stumbled onto a nice little pond and have caught two good ones and one that could be my PB if I can land her. I have learned a few new techniques and knots though and they have paid off well, plus my first smallies so overalls I'm stoked. And here in GA/SC it's starting to cool down so it should be getting good here soon!
This year has been good, I've learned more this year than every year before and have caught good fish.
This year has been one of my best.
It isn't over for me just yet. I will be fishing until thanksgiving or until the ice is so thick I cant break through it with my boat.
Best year for number of bass, 1296 bass and counting.
No personal best this year yet but definitely the best for numbers of big bass, 46 bass larger then 5 lbs and still counting.
Won 3 consecutive tournaments this year and won Angler of The Year as a non boater in my bass club.
It has been one of the best years so far and it is far from being over.
^^^^^^ wow! Wtg mainebass!
The numbers haven't been there for me. .. but I have caught two bass over 8lbs, my PB smallie on vacation, and some really nice sized redfish this year.
I'm in Florida so. .... I still have till Jan 1 to make this "year" a numbers success! I'm going to try to go south this Xmas and catch a peacock bass...... that would make my year!

I need a bigger boat. Cant quit my job just yet.... Openwater is only from April through Nov.
I need to become a better fisherman first.
I am not going to act like I didnt have a lot of good times this year. But performance wise not so good. I still havent had a 20lbs plus day! Not to say I wont get there before the ice as smallies around here get stupid and easy to catch.
Honestly guys, the whole family thing is getting the best of me, I find myself fishing less and less each year by choice. I'll get out in morning, get one big bite in the boat, and lose motivation to string a pattern due to missing the family. What a shame.
This has been my worst fishing year ever. To the point that I've asked myself several times if I really had any idea what the heck I'm doing....and then I come on here and see I'm doing all the same things you guys are. I don't know....this has been the coolest summer I can remember ever. I talked to many fishermen in this area that weren't even 100% sure we had a spawn this year. I never saw any evidence of it. Oh well...any time fishing is better than any time working
I've had a great year considering I have had far less time this season and I'm still way up on fish, size, regularity and gear.
Still haven't been able to bring in the big lass from this one spot though... It's my only real "goal" for this year. I just want to weigh her and say hello. If I can do that it'll be a total success!
This year has been great. I took 3rd in AOY points in a new league fishing 8 lakes that I had never fished before. although I didnt win any event I was competitive in every event (except 1) and it was fun learning all of the different lakes. I recovered all of the entry fees, and the winnings helped pay some of the gas and tackle expenses ( a small fraction lol). Most of the days we were just missing the 1 or 2 big bites that the guys who did realy well were getting, but our bag was always a nice average sized bag which put us in position to make a run for it if the big ones did come out to play. outside of tournament fishing this year has been great for just recreational fishing, with a lot of fish over the 4 lb mark and a few over the 6 lb range (both SMB and LMB) none over 7 lbs yet but the fall is still the best time to get a giant up here. I did things quite a bit different this year, I worked on slowing down when I was in an area that I knew had fish and thoroughly cover it with multiple baits, and it paid off(especially in mid to deep water). Big surprises for me was the craw tube was my #1 producer (T-rigged), and i hardly ever used a spinnerbait this year ( last years #1 producing tournament bait). Total numbers this year are probably just over 3000 LMB and about 50 SMB, so good over all numbers on the season, and looking to add more over the next month or so before ice up.

3000 LMB since ice out ? Very Impressive. Catching 500 bass month. Wow. You keep a fishing journal ? How many times a month were you fishing ? Impressive season.
The bad news is I have caught half the fish I caught last year and less than half the size. The lakes around here are way down. All the structure I used to fish is high and dry. Good news is I live in San Diego, so fishing is far from over! Caught my PB last year in December!
Numbers were good but the amount of 4lb and up fish was down from last year. I even fished more this year. I did however beat my Pb that I caught last year by 1lb. So I'm happy with this year overall. Plus I have about another 6wks of fishing so I can't complain.
Mine was much better definentley changed it up alot as far as fifferent techniques.

I dont keep a fishing journal as i dont want to have more influence than i already have to fish memories. I fish 3 days a week for at least 8 hrs a day and an average day is usually around 40-50 fish caught, and the time between finals were done till june 1 i fished 6 days a week, so i went like 15 days in May. Some days have been well into the 100+ fish category and the worst days have been like 10-15 bass ( which i can count on 1 hand except for 1 tournament i only caught 2). MN is an amazing bass fishing state ( when the water is soft ) the fish density is probably among the highest in the country as far as bass/acre, and though their are not many DD's swimming our waters, the number of 3-5 lb bass is incredible. But it sounded like it was a great season for you so congratulations on your year as well.

Only bad day fishing is....? Nope, can't think of one. Some days fishing are better than others.
This year has been an up and down year but definately a good year. We started off the year with a 3rd place finish and then dropped a bomb and caught 1 fish in the next tournament. Then we lost the fish to push a top five for two in a row before winning one and having two 3rd places finishes in other tournaments that we fished. Given the size of the tournaments (100 boats) we couldn't of asked for more. We had plenty of good luck on our side to finish as well as we did and of course the bad luck of losing so many fish that could of pushed us to a few more higher finishes.
To be honest, even with the ups and downs, we have to consider this year a blessing because we didn't have the time or money to practice for any tournaments. We used our methods to the best of our ability and proved to ourselves that we could compete in such as crowd.
