my dad and i took the boat out for the first time this year. it was terribly windy and didn't look like it was going to be a good day. but not too long into the trip my dad hooked up with a nice little 1 pounder.
then it got really slow and we moved down to the other side of the lake and i caught this awesome 5lb 10oz bass on a DT 10 pulling it over dead lily pads:
release:
little bit further down the shore we found a nice spot where my dad caught another 1 pounder, i caught a dinky bass about 10 inches or so, and then my dad hooked a monster 27", 3lb 15oz pickerel (scale reads 3-12 in the pic but it was settled on 3-15 before he lifted it for the pic):
we tried going up a productive creek but the wind drove us out, and we headed back to the truck and stopped one last time, where my dad caught a little hammer handle pickerel and dropped it as he was lifting it in the boat, and i caught a pickerel about 16" or so.
all in all a great day, despite the crazy wind.
looks like a good day of early spring fishing to me.
That's a nice fish you got there.
thanks! we're taking the boat back to that lake after easter dinner can't wait. my dad caught a 5lb 8oz bass there last year after easter dinner.
.dsa, nice lunker ya got there. The underwater shot came out really clear.Makes the bass look bigger!
After Easter, more photos would be good.
hopefully i'll have some fish worth taking pictures of by then!
Great fish. Just beautiful. You can tell thats a big fish for that lake. Reminds me of Minnesota bass, where there length is stunted and the big girls are only 20-21 inches but fat all the way down to the tail. Great fish, that's exciting. Where did you catch it? If it's private then saying a private pond will suffice!
Nice big fish!
Nice fish Dave
Great looking bass, good job!
Call me crazy but I kind of like this early season cold weather fishing. The fish are so clean and healthy looking.
Way to go dude. Great fish and excellent photo.
thanks guys. i caught it out of jameson lake. i've caught several 4lbers out of here, and my dad caught a 5.5lber last year, and he's also got one or two 4lbers from here. it definitely produces the biggest bass out of all the ponds i've fished. i didn't measure the fish, i wish i did, i only weighed it. it wasn't a very long fish though, i'd say somewhere around 21 or 22 inches.
VERY nice. Congrats Dave!
Love your pics; Feel like I'm out there with you guys.

Great pics and fish! Is your avatar from the movie "Gummo"? If so, that is one @#$%ed up movie.
Great bass, great pics! Good job man!

yes sir it is i'm surprised how many people from BR recognized it!
great fish. that is a chunk for sure!
Nice fish my brother, almost a six pounder on your first outing. That's what its all about.
Really nice fish & great pics. Congrats.
Nice way to start the season with that good looking, fat bass.
I like that avatar, too. Gummo is a very memorable flick, but I like strange indy films like that. Same writer as "Kids."
nice fish and that jack fish looked a little out of proportioned lol
BTW Dave I've been on this site for a while and dang youve been growing up. Pretty soon you will be posting on here looking like Jimmy Page. Unless you're a late bloomer (for your sake I hope no Gary Coleman disease) Haha man I'm just messing with you
hahaha can't say i've ever been compared to jimmy page before...
Alright Dave!
Super! Great! Outstanding!
Thanks for sharing.
Keep those pics coming.
By the way, did I miss seeing your PFD in the pics?
First safety rule, wear your PFD. Water is still cold and when it comes to Dave vs The Water, the water will win.
Dave glad to see you still make good posts.
Has your dad registered an account at bassresource.com yet? Just wondered since he seems to enjoy fishing as much as you do and is in a lot of your reports.
pfd is right underneath me as a seat cushion. we always have them on hand but don't usually wear them.
nah, he doesn't have an account here, i've told him to cruise around here for info before, i don't think he ever has.
