How well do you do at Shawnee Mission?
+1 for Park City!
I was practically raised at El Dorado lake, but I've been broadening my horizons lately towards lakes that actually have fish
QuoteQuoteOlathe - no boat yet, so I spend most of my time at Shawnee MissionHow well do you do at Shawnee Mission?
Shawnee Mission Park - I generally catch a few (knock on wood) every time out, but nothing really big though. A lot of the people out there are trying to catch catfish or bring there kids out to catch the blue gills...
The best fish I caught was around 4 lbs and I was shocked when it surfaced! I've been around others that have caught wipers - which put up a mean fight!
Do you ever go out there?

I go out there a couple times a week. I usually catch a couple shorts each time, with an occasional 15 incher. I seem to catch bigger fish in the spring, more solid keepers, several around the 2.5-3 lb range, and my friend caught one that was about 4.5 lbs.
N E Kansas here Have boat will travel as long as there is fish around ;D

i dont know how good shawnee mission park will be after dropping the water level about 8 feet. ive only been there a few times. kill creek is a better choice with or without a boat 85% of the time.

SMP is a lot better after they dropped the water. You can walk all the way around the lake to the south side, where its less pressured, and there is also better cover over there to fish. Since they drained it, I have been catching atleast 3x as many fish as before.
Another Kansan on board here. I'm near Atchison
